Read all about it… Professional footballer in ‘drinking a pint at a village lights switch on event’ shocker. I can see that in the Examiner tomorrow… Now, if Danny Ward had been seen in the Grove at 11AM on Saturday downing a couple of Guinness, before appearing on the bench against Soton, then you might have a disciplinary matter to get wound up about. Bobby Campbell and many others will be laughing their heads off looking down at the modern game, and modern day supporters getting all outraged. No Guinness at The Grove (or 11am opening).

Think about it though, nobody actually knows what was wrong with him. The squad is so delicate right now that perhaps DM didn't want to risk the potential spread of any illness. He has also been away for months so keeping him away for one more game wasn't going to make much difference. Also for all we know he may have only been considered for the bench and minutes in the second half so if that is the case what's the point in risking having him around the squad at all? He may have thought he was fine but the club thought better to be safe so of that's the case he is quite within his rights to go for a pint with his family. Again, nobody knows the facts so making assumptions doesn't make sense. How dare you be a voice of reason? What a spoilsport for those desperate to find a twig to beat the club with. Desperate to find a twig? Read my posts, many will back me up when I say I'm normally one of the last to beat the club with a stick.

Guys allowed a life outside football... To be fair I'm with him, the first thing I want when I start feeling better is a pint.
He must have been feeling well(ish) to be out the house attending the event anyway.

Fantastic that he's stepped up today. VR seems a happy hunting ground for him. Must confess, he was gash in his last two sub cameos, but he's the daddy today !

Was he just back from illness today or did JW just choose to not play him?

Always loved DW.
He gets some flack from some fans which i've never fully understood?
Some folk forget how pivotal he was in getting us promoted in 2012.

E4b’s couple of DW threads from today merged into this one. Bit more coherent then.

He needs to keep the momentum going now. Let's not forget, that's only his 4th goal in his last 20 appearances (16 starts) His best game in quite a while and he only played half an hour.

Whilst he’s never been the most prolific of strikers for us, he has scored some very important goals and has been a good servant to the club. Been a real shame he’s missed as many games as he’s played over the last couple of seasons though.

Amazing how things change from week to week as not that long ago whem alot of town fans wanted Ward to be loand out.
Wards recent good form should make him a starter v L--ds and could be the answer to additional fire power up front .
This makes the result a little less predictable plus the addition of a fire up new manager

Well played Danny Boy! Stuck one up the haters today!! A stopped clock is right twice a day....although gotta say they were 2 cracking goals, especially the header..Let's hope this is the start of a goal scoring spree for him, we certainly need it..

This makes the result a little less predictable plus the addition of a fire up new manager "recent good form" ? you mean the 28 minutes he's played...? But yes, he deserves a spot on the bench as our 'super-sub'...

If he repeats the same impact in 2 or 3 more games his signiture will be seen as a good move!!, he also has to put himself in the spotlight, it is highly unlikely he will get another contract at Town after next season.
