What was Kouassi like for Sutton? Blackpool fans already talking about him looking destined for the Premier League after one start. Did you tell Town to have a look? Kouassi was getting increasing opportunities with Sutton last season, mostly as a sub, he got the occasional start. It was expected that this season would be his breakthrough season at Sutton but it was a big surprise when he rocked up at Blackpool. I thought he had a lot of potential, but I agreed with the general consensus that this season would see him as a starter at Sutton. He’s very powerful and strong, good on the ground and OK in the air for someone who is only about 5’ 10”. He’d give defenders a hard time, bit of a unit. I read that he’d done well for Blackpool last weekend. He might be a bit of a Novak-type foil for Rhodes. I hadn’t mentioned him to Town, but I did tell them about Rudoni. You did mention Max Watters as “the new Jamie Vardy” though.

I thought the lad did OK yesterday.
Sure, he runs funny.
Sure, he didn't get anywhere near looking like a goal threat.
But....
For someone who was playing non league a year ago, struggling (?) in L2 last season, he won plenty of aerial balls, held the ball up well on couple of occasions, and linked play too.
He's nowhere near being the finished article but I quite warmed to him...he tried hard. Let's hope he can keep that trajectory going.

It can't be easy being a striker in a team that can't control the midfield,or string two passes together.

"Kyle Hudlin was a minor revelation up front, offering the kind of link-up play that has been badly missing from the side all season; he received a standing ovation upon his departure for the bench. "

As well as being enormous, he has something else you can't really teach, which is a really good awareness of players around him. I've also been impressed with him in interviews, seems to have a great attitude.

Thought he played really well bearing mind he was dragged to the floor pretty much everytime he went for the ball. Gave 100% which where we are now is as much as we can ask fir.

I bet he was a bugger as a kid for being the first to see the sea on trips to the coast

I thought he had a great game. I’d be happy to start him v Hull, give him some starts to build his confidence and fitness.
Such a shame the Ref didn’t play the bloody advantage after he knocked it inside to Thomas.

It was a great game by his usual standard. Very happy for him but let’s not pretend he isn’t still the same player who couldn’t get in the Wimbledon team. Currently behind the player who couldn’t get in the Bradford City team.

Currently behind the player who couldn’t get in the Bradford City team. Agreed. His selection is emblematic of the poor stewardship of the club, however his efforts yesterday should be applauded. All we can ask from the players is the best they can do, which he did.

If anyone thinks it is acceptable for him to lead the line for a Championship side then you need help.

I think it's a sad indictment of the transfer policy he's even at the club in ghe first place. I don't see any other Championship clubs signing non league players, I believe Middlesbrough signed, Isiah Jones, one a few years ago bug I can't think of any others.

I like him. Definitely a 10/20 minute cameo from the bench to change things up as and when require, though - as opposed to a starter. It would have nice to see a few crosses into the box for him yesterday, daft to pick a giant up front and not launch it into the box at every opportunity.

The thread was about the lad, and the recent ones regarding how well he played yesterday. Why are you dragging up the same old stuff about transfer policy? It has been done to death on pretty much every thread for what seems like years. Just let folk appreciate a player giving his all at a time the team really needed him.

I'll say what I want on a public forum and again, it's sad indictment that how low Town fans expectations have fallen if an average performance like yesterday is classed as good.

If anyone thinks it is acceptable for him to lead the line for a Championship side then you need help. Of course it's not acceptable that the lad has been put in this position, however, he did the best he could, won some headers, brought others into the game, won some free kicks (& should have won more) & did a great job, despite being knackered at half time, he's just not used to playing minutes at this level.

I don't see any other Championship clubs signing non league players, I believe Middlesbrough signed, Isiah Jones, one a few years ago bug I can't think of any others. Koroma and Thomas were both also non-league and have done alright. Some of our past cult heroes as well such as Darren Bullock. Anyone who knows a thing about English football knows the strength in depth our league pyramid has, and that some of the best players this country can produce can come from non-league. Jamie Vardy, Michail Antonio, and Jarrod Bowen to name a few. Signing from non-league is low risk with high potential reward, particularly if you get someone with as unusual a skillset as Hudlin. I like that we have a few of these interesting wildcard players like Hudlin, and players such as Thomas who've had to work in regular jobs before turning pro. Far from a sad indictment of the transfer policy, it adds some personality, graft, and rough diamonds to the side.

Nah..
He’s not a footballer..
He’s got the athleticism of a drunken baby giraffe..
He may try and do his best etc..
But frankly it’s embarrassing that the lad is starting for us..
