Surprised there's not a thread on him. In my c25 years of watching I'd put him close to Schindler as the best I've seen.
Very rarely gets muscled off it, mobile enough to cover the channels and bosses it in the air. For a strong defender he's pretty good against tricky attackers as well. Can look a bit clumsy at times, and some of his distribution is wayward, but he's reliable enough on the ball.
Player of the season so far for me. If we had 11 players at his level we'd be pushing for promotion.

He came on leaps and bounds under NW - I would add Rob Page to great centre halves

Probably our best player, will do well to keep hold of him I think. Seems a good character too.

Our best player imo - need to keep him - readymade new captain when Hogg calls it a day

He's been a really good signing. Dominant CB, good passer of the ball and chips in with a few goals.
I think with Yuta back in we have a solid defence and one of, if not the best keeper in the league. It's a solid base for Moore to work from. With Lees and Turton to come back in aswell I think defence is the least of our worries.

Didn’t understand why more didn’t realise the coup his signing was, been in two championship teams of the season while at Barnsley. There were loads of nonsense comments about him being average last year. He had one of his toughest games against Sims last night and still came through on top. Class act.

One of the few to come out with any credit for the first half performance as well last night.
POTM* by a mile even before the goal.
*yes I'm still getting used to not saying MOTM

Superb signing really, very strong, a good team player, decent footballer. I like how he sometimes breaks forward as an extra attacker & his finish last night was expertly taken, it wasn't a tap in.

When watching the women's game I say Player of the Match, but only because that's what the commentators/authorities called it. If they'd said Woman of the Match originally I'd call it that instead, which I do occasionally anyway.

Took me by surprise when they first changed this, I was looking at it on my telly for ages and thinking that just doesn't look right! Took me ages to realise what they'd done! Idiots!

Good point, a centre half randomly attacking the box on a counter attack could cause havoc and creat space for the strikers. As well as score like he did last night.

A Barnsley fan I know said we'd signed one of the best Championship defenders but after watching him in his first few games I assumed he was winding me up.
He looks like he gets better with every game he plays for us. Easily one of the best in the division. Playing alongside Pearson makes him look really cultured as he can actually carry the ball forward and nearly always finds a Town man with his pass.
If Kitching went from League One to Coventry for nearly £5 million then Helik has to be worth at least that

I'll be disappointed on his behalf if he isn't brought back into the Poland squad in a couple of weeks time.
His form alone is worthy of a recall IMO, but also the new national team manager, Michal Probierz, was his old boss at Cracovia.

On the one hand I LOVE seeing our players being called up by their nations, including the "minnows" like Curacao and Luxembourg. On the other hand I always shit myself that they're going to get knacked by some overzealous player in their international match and be unavailable for us.

Started slowly last season, which was understandable as he had missed a large chunk of pre-season and was just regaining fitness. Injuries and shocking start to the season caused us to go in for him as we wouldn't have signed him otherwise. So, he only joined through adverse circumstances. But, what a player. An absolute rock and genuinely makes very few mistakes (Coventry at home last season being the only glaring one). Strong, dominant, front-foot defending without being reckless and an unflappable character. Our biggest asset by a mile and we need to build the team around him.

Factor out Schindler having the balls to bag that penalty and IMO Helik is a better player than Schindler ever was in the Championship for us. Cost less too.
Schindler in Prem season 1 was completely different gravy and whether Helik could hit those heights I dont know, hopefully we get to find out at some point. But I stand by the above.

He came on leaps and bounds under NW - I would add Rob Page to great centre halves Page was good for us - transformed our defence - but only played 18 games before signing for Chesterfield. Up there with Monkou being treated like a legend (21 games). For me, you need at least a full season to deserve such accolades.

I think our league position probably didn't help him which is ridiculous, almost as ridiculous as Henderson playing for England despite 'competing' in the Saudi league.
