I don’t particularly post about commentators as I think it’s a tough gig and underestimated how difficult that job is.
That being said, I can’t listen to Danny Murphy.
So it’s going to have to be ITV for me if Murphy is in the building.

Shame that town didn't have game on some how, I'm down the pub now and very few in here are proper football fans.
Just a bunch of people out for the occasion, which is fine but to watch it with day in day out supporters who are really into football would be better.

Whatever happens I hope that song is dropped going forward. Hopefully because we've finally brought something home but if not it's just an excuse for every nation to take the piss out of us. Thirty years of hurt will now be 60 by the time the next WC comes around if we don't win tonight. If we win it’s impossible to take the piss and it’s just banter what makes footy so great. Great song as well. Thing is, those who take the piss (and many of those who sing it) are misunderstanding the song. "It's coming home" was referring to England hosting the tournament, not to England winning it. Thing is, it was among the best football related pop songs ever written- so it was bound to get re-used out of context. Nobody seems to ever play the updated 1998 version these days. Likewise the "official" 1998 song never gets an airing nowadays, but mostly because it was shite. Little bit of trivia, who can even remember what it was or who sang it? |

Aye well - In and around ma wee estate today (24 houses) doing my grass and did wish Stan The Newcastle fan across the fence, Lewis The Leeds fan next door and Gary The other Newcastle fan down the street a few yards good luck tonight - (The same goes for youse fine lads and lassies on DATM as well of course)...
I might get into trouble if I admit that to some folks that I know all the same...
I did stop short of promising them a crate of Tennents Lager if England win though - as I’ve got the annual raid on The HTAFC superstore to contemplate fairly soon ! 😉

Although the two bookings thus far were bookings, I always have a bit of sympathy for those booked in those circumstances where they’ve gone for the ball and misjudged it. Unlike a certain Carvajal, who got away with having no intent for the ball. Why is the benefit of the doubt given to those with no intent for the ball and not those who have made a simple misjudgement?
