I'll add to the baseless wishlist.
Sam Gallagher is out of contract in the summer. 28 years old, bags of championship experience and hasn't really been given the main striker role before. Id like to see us sign him. No worse than what we already have
Bit more of a project but Duncan McGuire from Orlando City averaging a goal every 2 games ish. 22 years old and seemed to hit the ground running at Orlando especially compared to others who were drafted around him for the MLS. Hopefully American connections would help especially as a couple of Championship clubs are apparently already sniffing around.

I don't mind people posting names that they hope we will sign. The issue for me is that the majority of names poster are for old past it players with no or little championship experience. We have to improve in January and we can't afford to replicate the random bag of poor players we brought in last January. I have no idea what our budget is, but based on the majority of names posted on here you can see that out sights are set very low at the moment. I just wonder what the other clubs around the relegation zone are planning in January, because if we don't improve more than they do we could end up going down with a better team than we have currently. Championship clogger, never excelled, no potential to sell for profit, would want 2+ year deal and likely would be on 10k a week as a minimum which makes him a top earner for us. Pass Would much rather have a young, hungry EPL loan or lower league talent. and (yes, and) I think given that we're lead to believe there is some form of budget; I'd like to see us getting value and picking up a striker from europe akin to The Zorg that has attributes required for the championship; pace, power, relative youth and appreciation potential. I think we all want proven championship quality but for a striker of that ilk we wouldn't have the coin...

Been outstanding for Vale. Class above League 1 and lots thinking he has all attributes to go to the very top. However, he is out injured for 5-6 weeks so it would either be an end of Jan one or it may be that Wilder keeps him for second half of season.

So we need a midfielder who can pass. A creative midfielder who can get the the ball from a midfielder who can pass and can then create chances for our striker. A striker who can score chances created by the creative midfielder who can get the ball from a midfielder who can pass. Simple. Not sure we need two full-backs. A first-team-ready right back will do (Jackson and Turtinho deputising). Yuta, Headley, Ruffels and Jackson to choose from on the left = we're fine there. A right winger to enable us to rotate out Sorba (or cover for injuries and suspensions). A creative midfielder who can control the tempo of the game and pick a pass (a Mooy or Eiting type). Needs to be first team ready. Defensive midfielder as a long term replacement for Hogg. Two strikers. One of which might be Rhodes but we need another to be a first-team-ready first choice. Think we’ll be lucky to get 3 first team ready players let alone five. There’s no way we are getting a RB, RW, 2 CM’s and 2 Strikers although I’d love it all those positions were filled with first team ready players. The spine needs fixed ASAP.

Yeah, that wasn't a prediction of what I think we'll get. Just what I think we need. Which of those positions gets filled will probably depend upon what deals we're able to do as much as anything. Priorities though: Creative midfielder Striker Hogg replacement

With Hogg injured we need Kasumu in CM and Spencer has been doing well in the SPL and can slot in RWB
Rhodes is obvious as we don’t have a striker
I’d also get Simpson back. Just as an extra body and to say “clean slate show what you can do”. If it’s nowt bin him off in the summer. However we’d know by then. There’s clearly a player there though as he showed when scored for fun at Swindon.

Surely we've got to be looking at Langstaff from Notts County. The lad is on fire, a natural finisher who could easily make it at a higher level. A hat-trick tonight for him. County saying that they don't need to sell, but I'm sure they would for a certain price.

I'm hoping to be wrong, but aren't we limited to the number of senior players in a squad? At the moment we have five strikers. One on loan, the others crocked. Is it the right thing to take up another spot with a sixth striker, or do you say to someone, that their season is over, so that a new guy can come in? Similarly with the defence, Turton is a squad member, which must help keep him motivated, but he's taking up a squad place. Do we say he's out, to make space for someone else? How would he then feel?
Folk reckon that we need to sign at least four players, but do we have four available places? Probably not, so, someone is either going to have to be sold, or told that they are in the "bomb squad" and will not play for us again this season.

Ward can be taken out - maybe see if he can be one of the ball boys.

I don’t think this should even be a consideration, we need to stay up, players feelings are secondary. If we can get the right players through the door then we can loan the “season over” players out to other clubs in need lower down in the leagues. If you are doing a job and contributing to us staying up, then you are worth keeping, if not, then they need to move on.

Valid point, and not one that I suspect many had thought of. As things stand: Nicholls Maxwell Chapman REG Ruffels Pearson Helik Headley EdwardsTurton Jackson Lees Yuta Hogg Rudoni Koroma Sorba Kasumu Wiles Austerfield Burgzorg Ward Hudlin That's 23 players (the others are U21 so don't count towards the total). Assuming that we send Edwards back to Stoke that still only leaves space for 3 coming in unless we get rid of someone on that list. Seems so odd to say that when our squad looks so thin

Also no time for sentiment, REG should be sent out too, if not, don't register him.

In terms of moving players on, obviously you'd hope that they could be fixed up somewhere else - whether that's on loan or permanent - but it may be the case that we need to just not register players for the second half of the season if the numbers are an issue.

I would get shut of Hogg, loan Wiles, Austerfield and Rudoni out to L1 teams. I never thought I would say this but Danny Ward is past his best and has to go along with Hudlin. That’s 9 gaps that need filling.

Hogg should still be in the squad, but, perhaps more of a Whitehead role now. I would happily see Hudlin and a few of the younger lads loaned out once we get replacements in. I wouldn’t be against having Rhodes back as an option from the bench.

First job should be to recall Jordan Rhodes and Brodie Spencer. Just as an extra body and to say “clean slate show what you can do”. If it’s nowt bin him off in the summer. However we’d know by then. There’s clearly a player there though as he showed when scored for fun at Swindon. The way we've played the last couple of games, a big, quick, powerful lad as an option is good. Simpson fits that criteria if we have to spend the money elsewhere. Either as a back up to Del, a more direct, less showboaty version or alongside him when needed.

Have to agree on bringing Spencer and maybe Rhodes back. Fills gaps at no cost. Unsure on Simpson but he would be an alternative option for the second half of the season.
REG and anyone else not being offered a new contract should be shifted on in January if possible. REG isn’t up to it and trots around like a lame horse.
