Also, lots of town players live in Leeds! It's not big news. I'm sure there's a few Town fans who live in L***s too, like you say it's not a big deal.

I came back up with the wife and kids and spent ten minutes walking round town center before deciding to drive over to Halifax. Center is awful, looks tired empty shops everywhere. As said above is it past saving? Maybe Having been brought up in Huddersfield and spending many years going out in the Town Centre in the evenings , it does sadden me to see what it has become in the last 10 years or so. I’m sorry to say, the only time I now visit my birthplace is to see the football, once a fortnight. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the redevelopment of the market area - the plans look promising but whether they can ever do enough to transform the place is up for debate. I hope it will make a difference but I've zero trust in the council. My guess is they'll spunk a load of money away with zero benefit. The fact they're calling it the cultural heart and demolishing car parks just says to me they know nothing. They need to attract businesses and then customers, in that order. The basic fabric of the town is fine but why would you go when there are no decent bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, you can't park and it's scruffy and run down. Add to that everything newly built that isn't part of the university is a monstrosity. And of course because it's a shit hole it's full of the types that frequent shit holes, making it even less appealing. They can't even build a half decent bench or plant pot! Compare with nearby towns and cities, who are spending money improving and using good design to blend in to existing architecture.

Compare with nearby towns and cities, who are spending money improving and using good design to blend in to existing architecture. I’ve not been able to come to terms with those giant planters they sited around n the Town Centre. What’s that all about? It’s no longer a Town Centre where anyone older than, I’d suggest, 30ish would consider having a night out and it’s certainly no longer a shopping destination unless you are a binge vape shopper. My wife and I go out to Wakefield frequently for nights out with friends. Despite its reputation, you can go there and l find pubs, bars and restaurants that are used by all age groups. Another contributing factor though, is the very poor and unreliable bus service catering for people living in outlying areas like me. I can’t even consider venturing into Huddersfield unless I drive. Obviously, if you drive, you can’t drink.

What an absolute flannel. Can't be doing with these professional footballers on god knows how much money coming out with the 'poor me' excuses.
He has looked terrible so far and judging by his previous appearances and interviews doesn't look like he's got any fight in him to turn it around.
He'll end up being another one of our spectacular big money signings that leaves on a free.

Number one - I think that this thread has misconvinced people about what was said, his first language isn't English, Duff also said the same and put it far better. He also has said he is feeling better now so no excuses from now on. Number two - Spectacular big money?! Less than 1 million is really not that much in today's market. I would say the signing that is probably more likely to end up as you describe is Healey, through no fault of his own, more the fact that we paid double for him what we paid for Bojan, and his injury problems leave him far less likely to be bought by another team.

Always loads in the station on the way to Town games when I lived there circa 15 years ago. If was in my 20's, on my own and with a high level of disposable income I'd live in Leeds city centre all day long over anywhere in Huddersfield. It's nothing to get salty about, there's just more stuff to do and actual shops worth spending your money in. Alternatively, live in Manchester which is better again. If the club want folk in this category to settle they should be actively pushing that to them! Different story as you get older and your identity and requirements change.

I meant big money in terms of us as a club. Take the premier league seasons out of it and anything over a mill is decent money as far as town goes.

Eeh times are a changing. Huddersfield Town player admitting he finds Huddersfield boring and is enjoying life now in Leeds (22 minute mark), whilst getting paid very good money for doing next to fuck all. Wish the reporter would have delved more into that! I mean it's a bit of a tactless thing to say unless you're a bit of a self-important, arrogant sort of twat. imo. Don't like him. He finds Huddersfield boring so moved to the bright lights of Leeds (seriously), yet another over paid entitled footballer which is OK as it goes with the job but being crap is not a job specification.

When we were half-decent under Wagner, all the young lads lived in Leeds. Family men tended to be the greener outposts of the Holme Valley/Fixby. Can't remember any complaints then (surprise, surprise). Have the been into the town centre recently? If you're earning 6 figures, you'd need to head checking to choose to live anywhere close.

I haven't been in the town centre recently but the councils Blueprint looks promising after years of neglect. I lived in Fixby not sure about a greener outpost but it was more family friendly than some areas. I've lived all over the country north and south and whatever the salary the problems always start and end with people. I know a guy who is a multi millionaire he lived in a caravan until it burnt down, though money gave him the freedom of choice. Huddersfield used to be a nice town but modernity and brutalist architecture reared its ugly head, maybe the Blueprint can return some of its past glory. “We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us” Sir Winston Churchill.

Sure there's a song in there somewhere. 🎶 Bojan, Bojan, living in Leeds, doesn’t like running, doesn’t like speed, Huddersfield’s not his cup of tea, but he’s our player, can’t you see? He might not score, he might not stay fit, but we’ll cheer him on, bit by bit, Bojan, Bojan, give us a smile, we’ll support you all the while! 🎶 FMR! 👊

Staying in some absolute dosshole places in the process. As well as living out a hotel Monday to Friday for a number of years in this country due to work contracts including offshore work. What have you done that's so precious where you can relate to the trauma of working abroad? He's a footballer. In a privileged position, where the stress of money is not an issue. A short plane journey from family. Blaming your prolonged poor performances on living in the area is embarrassing.

Personally I’ve never had a problem with moving about and being away from home due to the amount of moving we did while dad was in the army But maybe not everyone is as resilient as me or thee, some people find it incredibly hard to adjust to stuff like that Not trying to make excuses for him because he HAS been bab, just pointing out different people take longer to adjust to changing circumstances and I genuinely think he looked sharper in his recent appearance against the Tykes

He's been underwhelming for sure, but not every foreign player settles in this country straight away. Robert Pires, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Patrice Evra are 3 very recognisable names who instantly spring to mind when it comes to not hitting the ground running in English football. I don't think anyone could argue that each of them went on to more than make their mark after slow starts.
He might end up being a complete dud, but I feel the lad deserves a bit more time and consistent game time before we all write him off in my opinion.

We shouldn't really be writing him off until he's had a consistent run of starts and preferably with the same partner upfront.
Hopefully Healeys situation is resolved, Duff says he's full fit, so let's hope we can get them both playing consistently.

You were away Monday to Friday, what did you have to come back to on a weekend if you don't mind me asking? The bit about Bojan that rings true with me is the rootlessness bouncing about between different short term apartments, minimal contact with family and friends back home, and no networks where I was living. And, as with Bojan, no option to just nip home due to how time consuming the work commitments are.
