Nah not having that. He looked poor on the ball and well short of this level. He's now looking like a quality championship full back. Strong in the tackle, fast, composed on the ball. Aside from his mishap last week for their goal he hasn't put a foot wrong Agreed. Pre loan he was a boy. Post loan he has bulked up and is a man. He is a brilliant player. A few months ago I was wondering whether any players in our squad had any value at all. Now we have loads who I would say are destined to be sold on for millions/play in the PL. And if there's any justice our right hand side should be appearing for Norn Iron and Wales in their next games

Brodie Spencer is the genuine article. He has pace, good positioning sense, good in the air and boy can he tackle. He could go all the way to the Premiership, hopefully with Town, and at this rate will be attracting admiring glances from teams already in the top flight. He would fit right in at City already he is that good. What a player we have here. Plays like Kyle Walker. Has all the attributes. Kept up with and pick pocketed Dan James. Balker and Helik with Headley and Spencer either side is a formidable defence for our level Agreed but.. How can you leave out Pearson and lees?? They’ve been outstanding recently.. 🍻

If we'd have signed him in January for £2-3m we'd be well pleased with the business we'd done. Biggest loan player butsting on the scene since Jack Hunt. Think that goes to Vinny Daloo, glad Josh Korma doesn't have that issue.

Can't explain how good this tackle was. Against one of the fastest players in the league, playing on his wrong side, so having to tackle with his right foot which is unnatural in that position and to come out of defence with the ball like he did. Deserved the ovation it got at the time...

If he plays this well for the rest of the season we'll be lucky to keep him for next year

Why is it whenever we talk about how good a player is it’s accompanied by anxiety about how we’ll be lucky to keep him, or how X player will definitely be off.
Can’t people just enjoy the moment without anxiety about what may or may not happen.
An American billionaire has just bought us and has shown his ambition with the manager appointment and January signings. Relax, Spencer won’t be sold on the summer because we’ll be having a tilt at promotion next year.

We are heading upwards and this won’t be achieved by getting rid of our best players.

What a prospect we have. The kid has all the attributes and is so versatile.

As good as Lees and Pearson have been, I don't think they can continue to be in the first 11 next season if we want to progress. Their use of the ball just isn't good enough and for a manager looking to play attacking football you need your defenders to help the flow of the game and not be shaking it out for throw ins 4 or 5 times a game

THAT tackle yesterday was like watching Maldini, hooked the ball, took the player out then back on his feet to turn and run. 👏

He actually looked decent on his rare outings for Town before went up to Scotland.

He actually looked decent on his rare outings for Town before went up to Scotland. You could see he was quick and technically very decent. What he lacked was confidence and aggression. He had a tendency to give his opponent too much time and space, and positionally he was often too close to the centre-back, making the pitch wider for the opposition and narrower for us. His loan at Motherwell has toughened him up and clearly been the learning experience he needed. It has to be remembered: the kid is only 19. He's always been highly-rated, making his international debut (albeit for Northern Ireland, who pick players based on whether they have a granny who visited Belfast once) before his club debut. He's showing at the moment that he really is a fantastic prospect, and doing so out of position more often than not.

I think years of Hoylesterity has naturally made town fans a bit anxious (😜) about holding onto talents and feeling under dogs to everything.

It's a fair enough comment though, it's a conversation I was having in the pub with my mate after the game. I was of the same opinion as you, I think we'll keep him - it feels a bit different to the last few Hoyle years where we bend over and accept an offer because there isn't any higher offers about. I did just check his contract though and became a bit more worried when I saw it is only til June 2025. There'll be some serious contract extension offers going into Brodie's agent at the moment I'd imagine.

Cracking tackle, I remember watching old school training videos from the likes of Maldini, Gary Neville featured in it actually about the art of tackling, and Maldini was going over the "hook" tackle, and the "Heel" tackle (similar to this one). But, Brodie had a 3-4ft head start and if didn't make the tackle Dan James would have been away, good thing a strength of Brodies is tackling though!

Agreed with this. Remember watching him for NI seniors too (my buddy plays for NI), so I watch a lot of games from them, and I remember Brodie being lightweight then. He's gone to Scotland and came back as a solid first teamer! If only all our loans were like that.

I wouldn’t be trying it anytime soon but wonder what he would be like in centre mid, quick strong tackler who can drive well with the ball.

He's gone to Scotland and came back as a solid first teamer! If only all our loans were like that. He's still never played for the NI U21s (and probably never will now). He got fast tracked into the senior squad after he and a few of the other U19s were invited along to a pre-Nations League camp at St George's Park in 2022. It was a point in time where NI had lost a load of senior players to retirement / long term injuries, and Ian Barraclough was forced to try and develop some new ones. He obviously wasn't really ready for it, but Barraclough / NI believed that dropping him into that environment would help to accelerate his development in the medium term. Like Town, it looks as though they were right. They're suddenly well stocked at RB with Brodie, Trai Hume and Connor Bradley (although the latter will end up playing further forward). His recent displays on the left will do his international aspirations no harm at all...
