Just had a look to see who we played last time we were in league one & only five teams are joining us from that year, next season. Without peeking have a guess, clue is they are all down SOUTH......Last time Town won automatic promotion (3rd tier 82/83) we played Exeter at home in the 1st game of the season then a week later Wrexham away, both ended 1-1.

I know we haven't seen much of him but if Balker stays I think he could be one of the best centre halves league one has seen in years.
You just don't get centre backs with his pace at that level nor any who are so comfortable on the ball. Some of his passing at Rotherham just looked so out of place with the rest of that game. The physicality of it might take some adjusting to but he's a big lad so I'm sure he would quickly enough.
The type of player we should be building the squad around if he's prepared to stay. I think there is a good chance he will because his injury record will put many off.

I can see him getting bullied by big centre forwards. I think he'll look better in a good team than a bad one, in the sense that he can focus more on creating attacks from the back, and someone else can cover the need for a hard bastard.

A centre back partnership of Helik and Balker gives me endorphins and certainty looks a lot better than one of Helik and Pearson.

Balker as the spare man in a back 3 could be brilliant in this league. Some teams would go 5-4-1 against us so it could be great if we could get a naturally left sided centre back that could go forward - then balker plays the new guy could do the overlapping centre back kind of thing that Sheff United used to get out of this league.
Even if we just had Balker as sweeper/ spare man he’d be the best centre back in the league on the ball and would be good stepping into midfield.
All dependent on him staying fit of course.

They like to think big in Small Heath & some of the fans have really let it go to their heads, they have installed two giants screens at St Andrews last week so I'm guessing the new stadium is a few years in the distant......All positive talk off the pitch but the trouble is getting it right on it, as we know.

They're talking about a 62k stadium but couldn't fill St Andrews the last time they were in the prem. Where are they going to find 35k+ extra fans? That's IF they get to the prem. Plenty of billionaire owners kicking around the EFL with the same ambitions.

No idea why the rest have such delusions of grandeur.

The new noisy neighbours........Trying to emulate the other City? Good luck with that. A different era of financial regulation and backing on a whole different scale. Plus Man City were a much bigger club than Birmingham to begin with.

My favourite away days of old: Wallsall, Bristol Rovers "The Gas Heads", Charlton, Blackpool and of course Oldham. I reckon we should do around 12,000 season tickets not bad really after the last few seasons.

If we can get some movement on the ins and outs in June ready for pre season. Early transfer business and fitness key to having a chance. I hope so

Do we have any players on international duty at the moment? The EFL rule to have a game postponed in league one is 3 or more during the international breaks......Last September only two games went ahead as planned in L1, I know a number of fans who book jollies around the breaks.

Play offs. Ideally winning in the final 🫣😉💙 Only if the final can be at Cardiff & not Wembley........How many fans who played a final at Cardiff during Wembley's rebuild would say this, nearly all I reckon? EFL could be moving the play offs to Tottenham.
