Have any towels being thrown in before the season has started yet. Criticize the critics all you like, but this match has all the same players doing all the same things they did last season and before. OF COURSE it's early days but we are desperately in need of new faces. Hopefully we'll get them, starting Monday ? I disagree that all the same players have been doing all the things they did last season. Each separate 1/3 team has played the same way & there is actually a pattern of play detected, unlike any time last season. There was also a much better tempo & less passing around at the back for passing's sake. Of course it's only Emley & of course we want better players but there is a style emerging already, more movement, shorter, quicker passing with a view to sliding players down the side of the penalty box. It's been an ideal first friendly, getting all players 30 mins in their legs, though no sign of Hogg or Lees. Slight concerns, though very early days, that Radulovic was hardly involved, Ward missed 2 sitters & Nicholls didn't start in the 1st X1, I would've thought if he was staying, he would have played as much as possible with Sorenson. Big positive for me was Wiles, he looked to get on the ball more & showed a bit of pace, not seen at all last season. If, & I know it's a big if, we can keep Jones fit, I'm positive there's a real player there, though may need to play as a 10 as I'm not sure wingers will feature strongly. Sorenson looks a real athlete & was very dangerous getting forward, though his crossing wasn't brilliant.

Decent workout that. Liked the look of Stone when he came on.

Irrespective of who we are playing, did anyone that watched us last season expect anything remotely different this time around without at least 4-5 new faces minimum? No, but it's the hope that kills you. I'll be criticized for being negative but without a lot of new faces we are going absolutely nowhere.

Helik, Baulker, Austerfield, Jones, Sorba and Wiles stood out for me.
Koroma - okay
Ward - worked hard missed a couple of sitters.
Sorensen - heavily involved but didn’t really offer much going forward. Most of his crosses were blocked.
Thomas, Jones their pace stood out a mile.

Don't think there's anyone that doesn't expect us to sign another 5 or 6 for the first team, more if players leave.
My first team currently looks like this
Nicholls Sorensen Spencer Helik New CB New LWB New CM New CM New CM Healey May?
I wouldn't want any of the others from last year as starters.

Balker looked good, and would be a starter if he stays. Jones also looked decent, but fitness is always the big question with him. Also, can he play in the wingback role that Duff seems to play?

Sorensen will be a very astute signing he’s full of energy and can get us up the pitch. His final ball needs work but overall great signing Clear to see duff is signing players to suit his system
Hopefully Mickel Miller fits the system on the left hand side for us UTT

I thought Sorenson had more or the ball than ant other player and he looked good on it. Yes his crosses didn't always land but Emley is a very small pitch, more width and he will be flying.

What was the final score? 5-0 although Emley had a goal ruled out for offside.

Agree on the points made.
The midfield and forward line looks desperate for investment. We are poor on the ball, lack creativity and therefore can’t form patterns of play.
Our bench isn’t particularly fantastic for options or creative players/ wingers who can be rotated in a very busy season.
I really hope we can execute as a club in the transfer market. We have been fairly poor since last summer with signings that support a style of play.

We are going somewhere, we are going down Even without any new faces, I wouldn’t expect another relegation scrap. We wouldn’t be troubling the top end of the table either but neither would we be in danger of going down again.

Have to agree. The last thing a pro footballer needs is a serious injury reaching for a ball against Emley. Friendlies are fitness sessions with an emphasis on shape. Theyre good for local clubs coffers and community spirit.

Ticket sales along with beer and food probably put around £20k into Emley’s coffers, which for them is a huge boost. Appreciation of Town coming there was mentioned by their announcer a couple of times and hoped we could do it again in the future. With regard to the community spirit, the raffle raised £400+ which was donated to the local primary school and some other Emley local organisation but I can’t remember which one he said. Oh, and there was also a guy there who went against the community spirit and for the bantz obviously, turned up in his Leeds shirt 🤷♂️

I see Birmingham City are playing local sides Solihull Moors, Walsall, Shrewsbury (all away) pre season so hopefully some feisty games for them. Also play Paderborn (in Austria) plus Rangers & WBA at home a week before start......Could possibly pick up a couple of injuries with that line up.

I think it is pretty piss poor that qe haven't announced the Austria friendlies yet. Seems to be a real lack of quality opposition in what has been announced so far.

Good game .. Youngsters did well... Simpson wasn't great before he scored. Not a great scoring record in league one last season... Think he needs a league 2 loan
Sorenson looks class Austerfield looks like he could bring something along with Jones. Maybe a sub role for both
My team for the season would be
Maxwell(sell Nichols) Spencer Balker Helik Sorenson Koroma Kasumu Buy/loan CM Thomas Healey Buy/loan striker
Bench players Austerfield Jones Headley Ward Hogg Pearson Lees Radulovic Burton
Mix of youth and experience
I'd loan out Iorpenda L2 Harratt L2 not shown me much....bad egg. Last chance. Hudlin...conference Chapman L2 Simpson L2 Stones Conference Ayina L2/bottom L1
