I will be disappointed if we lose May for £25k. If we have been pushing this for a while, which it sounds like we have, how do we suddenly get pipped without the chance to increase our offer? Is this just more internet BS? It's more than £25k. If both teams are offering 3year deals, you could be looking at close to a £1 million over that period if they're paying £5k a week more It said £750k vs £775k. That is just the payment to the club not the payment to the player.

I know that but you're saying we're losing him for just £25k I'm saying that if we match that and the wages their probably paying then it's actually way more than just £25k

Now Neil Mickey chief sports reported for the Sunday Peolle suggests we are still most likely to sign him. Haha what a saga.

I doubt we'd have any issue raising the £25k fee but as mentioned elsewhere if they're offering a bigger contract which we can't match then there's not much to it. Birmingham's owners are very wealthy.

After all this, watch him be a flop next season, whoever he signs for.

On another forum it is said that Michael Duff has been telling supporters at Emley that May could well be on his way to Birmingham very soon ...

That's his dad, Birmingham Moxley He has 20.9k followers, including Gary Neville and ‘claims’ to be the chief sports writer of the Sunday People. Ah, sorry just realised I put Daily Mirror instead of Sunday People in my original post.

Clearly he would never say anything like that to a fan.madness to suggest it.let’s hope players/especially ones we’re after see Birmingham for what they currently are,a little bit of a shambles behind the scenes and give them a wide berth.

For me if we get him I’m sure it would be a great signing and a big statement as well. But this saga is more than that. We have doubted our ability to get the big signings and once we fail with one it’s game over. If we don’t get him so be it, but we have to demonstrate that we have options and that we are not scrabbling around for someone else. My disappointment so far with this transfer window is that we already knew we had a weak squad with little depth and we don’t seem to have addressed this in any way. Marquee signings like May are fine but I thought we had more issues to start to resolve.

The deal to Huddersfield isn't going to happen. Birmingham have come in with a much better offer last minute Maybe he was right after all!

Supporting Town for over 50 years nothing will ever surprise me with our transfer dealings. It seems a trend that we get fucked over with potential signings that could ultimately make a big difference to our upcoming seasons,if you really want a player that can push you on and make a difference then stump up the dosh.

If we are to lose out on May. It’s gonna really show how Kevin, Cartwright etc react to such a big loss when we came so close. Because we’d have to bounce back from it especially to get fans on side because they’ll be extremely unhappy. Need to get another big name through the door within the next week or so if the May deal falls through. Maybe Evans that would make up for AM deal falling apart.

Not sure what you're meaning here? Apparently, we did stump up the dosh & had our bid accepted. The rumour is now that Birmingham have also had a bid accepted. Charlton, as the selling club, obviously want to get as much money as they can & if 2 clubs are going for it they will be able to eek out that bit extra. For me, it's now up to May if he wants to come to us or not. Will he improve our front line? I strongly suspect he would, his record in League 1 suggests so but if he wants to go elsewhere that would mean he's not fully committed, so let him go. Whatever happens, if we have had a bid accepted the first part of our club's job is done, the second part is agreeing terms, are you suggesting we should pay whatever the lad is asking, no matter how much that is?

You're absolutely raging that Birmingham City have put in a bid for a striker we're after? The amount of pissy knickers on the forum is staggering, isn't it. Imagine what they're like with things that really matter 🤣 This weird obsession with wetting the bed reminds me of last season when anyone criticising the club's decision making was accused of it. Turns out they were right to be worried. Just saying.

Had an argument with a bloke on facebook last night. Said it was amateur hour. What a load of rubbish. We’ve had a bid accepted and apparently so have brum. We’ll defo be working with a structure. If it doesn’t happen we move on. Folk carrying on like entitled kids

Tedious and creates division.

It will either happen or it won’t I guess.we will have done the groundwork and seems lazy on the birmingham part.I know we complained about seemingly how things were done last year but we seem to have got our act together whereas they have not. You’d also think if they’ve hijacked this deal could they be doing/have done it to others. If that’s their way of doing things it’s something ourselves and other clubs will have to contend with. In terms of the player himself, again we will have done the groundwork,we will have been speaking to him and that has to count for something. That and the duff connection.Although if Birmingham are throwing round 3 x the wages(this is a complete guess) then that could also sway it.All in all I’d just hope it’s still sorted Monday/Tuesday as has been previously mentioned. We aren’t desperate for strikers by any means but it would definitely have been a welcome addition and probably somewhat of a statement of intent to the rest of the division to bring in last seasons top scorer. Fingers crossed,if not we move on.
