Every single Charlton fan is either panicking, angry or ready to combust from what im reading. When was the last time we signed a player when their entire fan base didn’t want them to leave? Jordan Rhodes

Both feet, headers, penalties. What's not to like

Looks like he scores a variety of goals. He knows how to take a pen, which is a useless skill for us, but he seems to score poachers goals, instinctive finishes in and around the penalty spot, even laced in a free kick. Looks decent.

Just out of general interest, what would we think was too much for him?

Seems a very sensible, family orientated bloke, who feels grateful to be a pro footballer - not a billy big bollocks striker, just what we need.

Just out of general interest, what would we think was too much for him? If we buy him & his goals get us promoted we could have paid £5M & it would have been a bargain. If we spend £1m & he scores 5 we'll have paid 900K too much. It all depends on where we finish I think to be able to answer that question.

Stump up the money Kev or we miss out. Give him chance fair being fair to Kev, he did stump up a good amount of cash in January. I see no difference to this now. Town will be trying to stike good deals for ourselves, not that the cash isn't there.

If we've genuinely offered 800k (and got rejected) for a soon to be 31 year old who's never played above League one before that isn't good business for me. I'd like to see us utilise the League One route we did before signing players who we can improve and also sell on. Not that I have any confidence Cartwright can source those players. Appreciate May gives us a solid goalscorer at the level and sometimes age is irrelevant but hope the rest of the business is different. When duff came in he mentioned that he would look to sign players who could offer experience, players in their prime/peak and also players that could kick on at a higher level…or words to that effect anyway. It’s been said before that in that division a solid defence and genuine goal scorers go a long way to promotion. Maybe we will look at just getting who’s the best right now in the striking/attacking positions as well as defensively and then look to sign players who are good for the level but should improve and have time on their side in other areas.

Whomever we sign as a striker we need players that are able to pass the ball up to them.
Without a decent midfield, any new striker will not be able to score 20 plus goals.

I really hope this one comes off because it’s a signing what makes teams sit up and take notice, it could also act as a snowball effect in getting our other targets through the door too.
Players will join teams who have genuine ambition

Any updates on this one anyone?
Our bid got rejected very quickly yesterday so with us submitting another and no word of it being rejected coming out possibly it’s been accepted this time?

Just out of general interest, what would we think was too much for him? 1.5 million total limit, IMO. £1m plus £500k if we get promoted this season, £250k if we get promoted season after.

Am I being naive or are the expectations on Healey slightly too high? Other than one good half season for MK in League One, has he done much else at this level? Perhaps I'm being too harsh on the quality of Ligue 2 in France?

Off the top of my head, Toffolo, Grant and Wells all had their fan bases fuming when they joined Town I’m pretty sure I’ve got Toffolo in my best ever town XI… that’s how much I rate him.
