Am I being naive or are the expectations on Healey slightly too high? Other than one good half season for MK in League One, has he done much else at this level? Perhaps I'm being too harsh on the quality of Ligue 2 in France? Id say Ligue 2 in france is bottom end champ/top end league one Having watched quite a lot of ligue 2 football for gambling reasons, I'd say it was lower league 1 upper league 2 quality. I think Healey will be the dogs for us tho if he stays fit.

From charltons forum seems like their equivalent to Maynardblue
reamsofverse Season Ticket Holder ********** about an hour ago Quote Looks like Huddersfield have stepped into the ball park figure we are asking for Alfie so I expect that to happen sooner rather than later.

If not, they won’t be getting Charles. He’ll be more expensive than May, by a long chalk.

Not sure if this is as close as some on Charlton board suggest. Noticed Charlton Twitter today posting videos of some going in last week for early testing and May was the first one on the video. I know the video is taken last week but if you knew he was pretty much gone why post it today and not edit him out.
OR the lack of transfer activity has me very bored and overthinking.

That reamsofverse poster seems a bit weird to me....he/she seems to think May is already 32 (I think he's 31 early July) &, as a result, will soon be past it, yet then goes on to recommend 37 year old Adam LeFondre as a replacement. What worries me about that board is the majority seem to agree that he does nothing outside the box but is a good goal poacher, we will then need to find some players to set him up if we buy him!

Not the same as putting someone on a video on Monday when they’re reportedly off in probs a couple of days is it

Think you might be massively overestimating how much the young lads doing content for football clubs know about the likely transfer activity going on upstairs

That’s equally as suspicious on their end as the transfer could break down, I wouldn’t like I said read anything into it.

Both feet, headers, penalties. What's not to like I can see the ability to use both feet & head the ball being very useful.

Seems to have a bit of tenacity about him. I would like to see him, Healey and Bojan up top for the upcoming season. If Harrett is to be given a second chance, his tenacity could do us good in League One.

Interesting quote from Michael Duff when he was Cheltenham manager in 2022 regarding May:
"He came in a couple of years ago and we thought he was a good player, but I don't think he'd mind me saying he probably wasn't a great pro in terms of doing all the extras stuff in the gym, the bits that people don't see.
He's reaping his rewards for all his hard work now and he's been instrumental in what we've done in the last couple of years.
He's 28 in his age but in terms of his football age I think he's still quite young with his development."
May admitted when at Doncaster he just enjoyed himself and had a good time while playing football but having a family and working under Duff seems to have really matured him as a player. I would guess he holds MD in high regard and it bodes well for other players we bring in and maybe some underachievers currently with us.

May prior to facing Duff's Barnsley the following season: "We all know he’s going to be a top, top manager. I hope he succeeds at Barnsley because he’s done so much for me. "Even the last conversation I had with him, he told me I could call him anytime to chat about anything and that’s the type of guy he is. He is a superb man manager and he got the best out of me, letting me be myself really. "He had big belief in me so it was important I repaid him. Hopefully on Saturday I can beat the record against the manager who got the most success out of me as a professional player."

It's a shame Charlton don't have any interest in Koroma. Would have been a good move for him back to London and would have offset a large chunk of the May fee

Couple of articles online said we'd gone back in with a £1.2m bid for May. God knows how true that is, but it's a fair whack for League One prices.
