Should “God Save The King” be the anthem played for England?
In my opinion, it’s the National Anthem of the United Kingdom, England shouldn’t be grabbing it for themselves.
Do Scotland and Wales fans feel a bit aggrieved that England fans claim the anthem of the Union for themselves ?
Does it even matter ?

They were talking about that in ma local bar the other week but they were describing it as God save the Queen and the lady is at rest as well... (RIP)
Nobody here does it for sure but I believe some Rangers fans in Glasgow are into it but it’s more for political reasons than anthem ones -
For what it’s worth I think ‘Swing low sweet Chariot’ is a good cheery one for England to contemplate using if they so chose to drift away separately from The UK one...
Some of our lot love ‘Flower of Scotland’ and some love ‘Caledonia’ - When I started out watching Scotland 44 years ago (on tv / radio) it was a mass pipe band playing ‘Scotland the Brave’ which I liked very much ! 🏴

Change it to Agadoo.
It’ll be much more interesting watching them in the line ups, and I imagine they’ll know the words.

I'm fairly sure Scotland the Brave was played in 74 and 78. When did they change it?

Knew they’d been using Flower of Scotland for a while 28901, but had to on-line it there to find out officially and they first used it in 1993 and officially adopted it as their national anthem in 1997 ! How time flies by so quickly the older one gets in life ! 🤭

Aye it was first used by Rugby Union players in 1974 after winger Billy Steel encouraged the players to sing it. The Scottish Rugby Union team first used it officially in 1990... And consequently won The Grand Slam ! 👍 🏈 (Probably the last time that we won it 34 years ago) ! ☹️

You obviously did geography at school Northern Ireland is very much British N Ireland is just a carbunkle on the island of Ireland..a British enclave, just like Gibralter is on Spain..
Not for much longer though I suspect..
The reason England have to play GSTK is entirely political, to keep some semblance of 'the united kingdom'...and the fact Wales and Scotland don't want to be in the UK and regain their independent nationality by having their own anthems shows how precarious it is. If England has it's own anthem it would send shivers down the necks of those establishment bods still living in the 'rule britannia' era....

Why Jerusalem? Please Explain. It’s not for me, but this is why so many people like it: “And did those feet in ancient time walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God on England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the countenance divine shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here among those dark Satanic Mills? Bring me my bow of burning gold! Bring me my arrows of desire! Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire! I will not cease from mental fight, nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant Land.”

Obviously, John Barnes would have to get wheeled out every game to do the rap - but that's just details.

I'm pretty sure Scotland voted to remain just a few years ago😉 There's much discontent, same as the enclave in n.ireland .. The UK alliance of the 3 Nations will not be held together by the English singing GSTK.

I know he was suggesting it for the UK, but I'll go with Billy Connolly's suggestion of the theme to The Archers radio show 🤣🤣🤣.

The UK alliance of the 3 Nations will not be held together by the English singing GSTK. And it can never really be broken for defence reasons Would Wales and Scotland suddenly have an airforce and navy and be able to fend off putin when he,s already flying tu-95s near British airspace every other day and defend its waters from his subs The Republic of Ireland cannot even defend itself and if you don't already know the raf and royal navy have permission to patrol patrol the waters and skies of Ireland
