Glad to see Cartwright has chucked a few data analysis reports Kevins way to spare himself for another few months.
It comes down to Kevin, with all the good will and enthusiasm in the world, not having the ability to know if Mark Cartwright is doing a good job. That's okay, most football chairmen/owners wouldn't. Cartwright played the game and has been involved in football since then, so it's not hard for him to pull the wool over.
That's alright, that's why you have a Chief Executive in place who is a 'football man' running the club day to day. Oh wait, he's Cartwright's old team mate, old USL work pal and has been parachuted into Town alongside Cartwright by Gary Mellor at Beswicks Sports.
The whole Beswicks thing needs to be scrapped. There is no accountability at all.

My first observation is that it would be a shame if these diaries stopped. Communication is never a bad thing and these don't come across as in any way cynical or contrived.
I personally wouldn't play too much to the more volatile in social media land. There are many who have concerns but present them in an entirely reasonable and considered manner. I would hope that our recent past, and the opportunity that we failed to take, is accepted as a reason why the fan base are generally sceptical. From a footballing viewpoint, although opinions may differ, we know what we are watching. Things are definitely going in the right direction, I have faith in MD and his staff long term, but we are far from the finished article. I agree with the approach of incremental improvement but perhaps that needs to be the benchmark (as opposed to an immediate to the Championship - as welcome as that would be) that we need to be measured against.
I welcome the acknowledgement the perception of Mark Cartwright. I am sure there is extensive data and the work to gather this will not be inconsiderable but it is those that are recruited that will how he, and his department, are judged. It isn't necessarily about the level of investment, although money does talk in football, it is having the ability to find players that will make us better. I do believe that MD won't let others shape his destiny and will be involved in the development process. January isn't a great window to trade in but it might be critical if MC can find the right additions. MC's problem is that he didn't create a good first impression, fairly or not, and you never get another chance to make a first impression.
With regard to fan engagement the bottom line is we need a team, and club, we can believe in. David Wagner gave us that and the response from the supporters showed the potential of our club. The fact that wasn't built on is, as I say, is really at the heart of the malaise we are in at the moment.
Fan experience needs to improve for sure but when you visit other grounds in this league, and it wasn't better in the Championship, there is room for improvement. What is exciting is the H Town development. As someone who used to enjoy the days of Canalside I am looking forward to see what this offers.
Irrespective of fortunes on the pitch I am greatly encouraged by the potential Mr Nagle sees in the club and in the wider community. Leeds isn't far away and has developed positively in the last 10-15 years. Investment has been made in Halifax too. The opportunity to extend that into Kirklees must be investigated and taken. If Town is at the centre of that then that can only be good for the club in the long term. If Mr Nagle makes HTAFC and the town more "investible" in his time as our custodian he'll have done a good job.
As for the banter and general tone of the diaries long may that continue. It comes across as genuine, if perhaps a little naive/goofy (deliberately using the USA vernacular).
Here's a final suggestion though. There is currently "tea with the chairman" how about "a curry with Dave"? If he really is "Billy no mates" I am sure he could gather together a few fans to go out for a Vindaloo when he is next over.
I've come round to the view that we should expect a slow considered evolution. Provided things don't go totally wrong on the pitch, I do agree with Mr Nagle that we may have now turned a corner, then I'll support that.

Was another great listen. Again, certain fans being absolute wankers on social media coming to the fore. The same ones who stay quiet after a victory that give shit after a defeat. Whinging like fuck that they have been through lots being a town fan over the years, woe is me. So have we all!! Get a grip and stop hounding the MGMT with your negative shit. They talk great and I believe in them, if that offends the neigh sayers then fuck em The same rhetoric in reverse could be directed at KN...they were utterly silent whilst we lost 7 in 8...with an occasional, "there's nothing to say, we just need to win" from justaguy. Now to suddenly come out off the back of a comfortable victory against a team in Bristol who were shockingly poor, and a well managed but toothless performance against what look like a over-hyped Wrexham, all seems a bit insincere. Are they WITH US or not? It feels "not really"...the stuff they're talking about could just as easily be discussed after bad performances, and would build that reassurance that we're in good hands (which it feels like we are, but I certainly get why there is a bit of a background rumble of question marks, and the smart-arsery in amongst doesn't really help).

Frothing that they were segregated away from the Wrexham dignitaries Humphrey & Geoffrey Richmond's oily mate? I'm sure they'd earmarked this game as an opportunity to swap notes with Wrexham's commercial management team. A bumper stadium sponsorship deal with a US brand not even available in the UK is the stuff dreams are made of from an HTAFC perspective...

And would agree that you have your moan when things are not going well on the pitch, but equally sing when you win

I have been watching football with Town {and on telly}for many a year now,and believe I can spot a good, consistent, player by now and Cartwright has brought about 2 to the club.If he continues in that vein he is going to cost Kevin a lot of dollars, without the success Kevin craves.Get a real DOF Kevin and watch the club thrive.

And this is a bit of a “no win” we were speaking of. Put yourself in our shoes- when things are going poorly, we’ve both spoken quite a bit in the past, but learned very quickly there is NOTHING we can say that won’t be turned into a lightning rod and make things worse. Plus a lot of the questions are specific- Mark, Michael, Player XYZ, and neither of us are going to adjudicate that publicly- nor would you want us to. As I’ve said before, we tend to tone it down and make fairly bland comments when things are on a downturn, mainly as a public signal of awareness and engagement. But no one wants to hear “stay the course” or “trust the process” in those times. It’s not that either of us shy away from the comments good or bad, it’s just that it doesn’t help. As I’ve said much of this is learning on the fly, and if you step back and are fair about my assessment, I think one would agree our actions (or inactions) are a direct result of “reading the room”, which we were told to do many times. Appreciate the response.

Absolutely NO to clappers and goal music.
A song to get the whole stadium rocking would be good after victory! Just not 'I predict a riot,' don't think that would go down well!

I have to admit if it was me who was pumping millions into the club I wouldn't have the patience kev seems to have
Dunc and the rest would be getting both barrell,s...its one thing to post on a fans forum but when it's directly messaging someone it's getting very personal
If you make it personal then the person on the receiving end has every right to have a pop back

Appreciate the response. Fair comment and understood...BUT... This season is very different to last season....23/24 the football was tedious early season, and relegation became a likelihood with perhaps 4 or 5 months of the season to play out...the whole feeling around the place was one of resignation over an extended period, and Andre B's downbeat negative demeanour only developed that. 24/25 is different. We can all see with our own eyes the standard in this division, its zero surprise at all that clubs like Rotherham have spent the last 10 years being garbage in the Championship and then finding it relatively easy to get re-promoted out of League 1 without really changing anything. The wider fan base can see that without much change, we're a top 8 club, probably a top 6 club and possibly a top 2-3 club in this league. I know we lost 4 league games on the bounce (and 5 in 6), but that was always going to be a weird anomaly....dropping the output volume during that period feels like a mistake to me...we KNOW we aren't going to win every game, and we also know that unlike last season, every loss isn't just another nail in an inevitable coffin... ...as every manager always says, "don't get carried away with wins and don't get carried away with defeats, trust the process". Difficult to trust in and carry that attitude when you're spiralling towards relegation...I think you'd get a much more forgiving and balanced reaction this season irrespective of the results you're chatting after. There's only so much "new" you can say obviously, and obviously its really convenient to do these diaries when they are convenient and you don't want a set schedule as then people jump up and down when there's something missing (like me and the missing final episode of the "How to buy a club" youtube series) - maybe an approach could be to do fewer of them (compared to last season where you were ramping us up on "who is KN" and there was that value), but do them with a regular cadence...then it takes the pressure off the random schedule, which comes across a bit like, "this feels like we're only brave enough to react to a win (we're hiding from defeat)". Hopefully moving forwards there'll be more to chat about the stadium and the fan hub thing...the chatter on insight of "boardroom experience" was interesting...would be good to hear more about what a matchday actually looks like for an owner of a football club, at home and various away venues...almost like a chatty version of the "unrestricted" videos (which are excellent) from a different view point... all that stuff is independent of results so should be able to be discussed without being jumped upon and torn apart by angry people!?

Need something, because last sat it was a ripple of applause. Bollocks! We've gone from beating Man Utd at home to Bristol Rovers. You can excuse the fans for not going absolutely bananas when we score but I didn't notice it being as subdued as they were hinting at. All this atmosphere crap is starting to annoy me a bit. Duff going on about how good the Wrexham fans are, well I was only watching it on TV but they sounded very quiet to me.

I really like Nagle, he’s put his money where his mouth is in regards to the stadium and the squad. He seems to be really moving the stadium ownership issues fowards as well. Really seems to have embraced the club and the Town itself.
Only issue he has for me is his continuing insistence that the DOF is doing an absolutely wonderful job in terms of recruitment. This has been born out by us being relegated with an embarrassing points total after what was described as ‘the best transfer window in years’ in January and then for us to end up with Freddie Ladapo after crying out for a striker for absolutely ages. We’ve also failed to sign backup players for Duffs system so are well short in those areas when we have an injury, hence now no natural replacement for Sorensen.
I worry he’s going to have to waste a lot more money before he realises Cartwright is a useless bullshitter. I’d put it down to his naivety rather than any lack of ambition.

Exactly. Because of relegation we're now playing teams like Bristol rovers, no disrespect to them, but it's hardly going to cause a buzz in the town. Don't think the atmosphere has been too bad considering. It's still better than most. If they're concerned about the atmosphere then maybe some players that 'get you off your seat' would be a good idea?

Well, the work done over Summer is reasonable - some decent signings.....so he has a bit more time yet before more questions asked.......January (again) will be critical in getting a few key players in; if he gets that right and we end up - where we all think / know / believe we should be - in the Top 6, then he will likely have done enough to keep his job.......any less than that would be failure and the finger would point at him.......

I'd rather drive 5 hours to an away game than 2 to a home game right now. It was toxic last season and most of the season before that. Apart from the lack of away support I'd say it's been better this season. I just find it abit hypocritical that the owner is having a little dig at the fans about the atmosphere on the back of a dreadful season that got us relegated. Another thing is, you need to look at the teams we've played at home and the performances. Barnsley aside, they're hardly teams that you look out for when the fixtures come around and we've struggled to put consistent good performances in to get the fans 'up for it.' That being said, it's nowhere as bad as you are making out. It's better than I was expecting tbf.

The diaries are great, good banter from the 2 blokes & they use humour really well to make serious points. We are lucky that they take time to do this & I genuinely believe they have both fallen in love with the club.
However, I don't believe for a minute KN is that happy with Cartwright but I also would not expect him to say so on these diaries, he will be DoF until he isn't. That being said, his summer recruitment hasn't been as bad as has been made out by our fan base. All have shown to have ability but, maybe Miller apart, consistency has been an issue. Given time to overcome the weak mentality that has been festering in this team for far too long, I think that if we are top 6 in the new year, we will kick on & be much stronger after that.
Sorenson is getting way too much stick from people on here, he started like a house on fire & was in the League 1 team of the year last year so can clearly play much better than he has shown lately. The evidence is there but he, too, will have suffered like everyone else in the poor run. He will kick on & a lot of people will have egg on their faces on here, just like the Keighley Cannavaro has shown lately.

If you own/represent a football club with circa 16,000 regular paying supporters and 30,000+ prepared to follow them down to Wembley I'm not sure much weight should be given to the relative small handful of crackpot vocal minority who are out to get a rise...a reasonable proportion of which won't even be followers of Town. The overwhelming 99%+ majority of Town fans would have lapped up all the output we had from KN last season and been very happy with what they heard and then quietly got on with their week, irrespective of the result. Thats KN's real audience...keep delivering to them. (On the last point, I *do* like a rant and an obtrusive viewpoint, it can be quite a cathartic release. Some really interesting viewpoints come out in response to disruptor thinking - as long as its done from a point of respect and you don't just carry on arguing for arguing sake when the discussion becomes circular or get personal or angry with it, then I think it can be a good mindset to have. I certainly don't swear by everything I've ever written on here!! )

I think people need to read between the lines with some of these things.
On Cartwright specifically, they aren’t publicly going to come out and hammer him are they?
Anybody who has been responsible for a team or managed even a single employee will know that is an incredibly stupid thing to do for a variety of reasons, and certainly won’t result in anything positive.
They have however acknowledged it so as fans you should take that as a subtle “we hear you” and you’d expect it’s a consideration behind the scenes. At the very least it means Cartwright is also aware of it and knows he’s on thin ice, certainly with the fans, and probably with the club as well. He will know very clearly he’s under the microscope and needs to start performing and any perceived “dodgy” decisions will be scrutinised.
Therefore looking at it positively, that can only mean Cartwright steps his game up and starts to deliver or he’ll get replaced.

I'd rather drive 5 hours to an away game than 2 to a home game right now. I think you need to move seat 🤷♂️ Do you honestly think the atmosphere has been good? We can and have done so much better as fan inside the stadium. It's about time we forgot about asthma season and the one before and look forward for a change. I believe the issue with us is we focus on the past and let it get to us. That doesn't help you, me, anyone. If we can replicate the atmosphere we show away from home, then we won't need clappers, goal music or things like that. At least that way, the fans can't be used in an excuse like Hinted at by Duff last week and then in the diary this week.
