Duff will not have been happy at how easily we kept giving the ball away. Nicholls passes to one of the 3 defenders, they pass it to the wing back who has no options so either loses it or passes it back to Nicholls to smash it long to nobody. It's exactly the same thing we kept doing last season. Hopefully as the season goes on Duff will get them playing some better patterns Nicholls got closed down at one point and played it off the striker for a goal kick. He then took a short 5 yard goal kick to helik. It was like an alien spat it out of its mouth, helik had to control it knee height at 30 mph inside his own 6 yard box. That certainly made the commentators chuckle. He gave him another shite pass 5 minutes later and they had a good laugh about that one too

Massive improvement over last season, for me, sums up the entire pre-season. The difference in midfield is huge & we are a very well organised team now, with lads playing for each other. Evans & Kane are very good additions & Wiles is like a brand new signing too. Definitely need another striker, someone who can take the pressure off when we do play the occasional long ball but we will not play any team as good as the last 4 opponents. Chalk & cheese to last season, with a couple more additions to come, we will have to be challenging near the top. An excellent pre-season, Duff & his staff have made a huge difference. None of the strikers we've been heavily linked with are the type of striker who can hold it up. They're all small like Alfie May. Michael Smith was mentioned last weekend and would make most sense

There's a striker at stevenage that will be guaranteed to cause us problems.
Healey won the ball and laid it off nicely a couple of times... but everytime it goes up to Ward, you just know what will happen.
We need league ones answer to Kieffer Moore.

We could do with a proper 6 we lost our way in the second half Kane needs to play higher up.

Agreed we need some pace, but We also need an out ball for when we don't have the quality to play through the lines. Can't rely on Healey to do everything and when Ward and JK are up there, Nicholls launching it is just a pass back to the opposition. Kieffer is anything but a big lump, far better player than that.

First half wasn't bad but overall not that impressed. Ok their a good side but they had players missing and unless we get a quality striker, we will be staying in league one.

Good performance on the overall today, Nicholls keeping us in the game with some good saves first and second half.
Bojan was limping and in pain (explains why he wasn’t on the pre-season tour). Would imagine he will still be involved this season.

Would take an O'Hare any day of the week over a big lump pace and movement what's needed and just let the midfielders put them through.

Thought Spencer again looked shakey on the left side but he will get used to it, still think we need a prem young cb on loan we pace and ideally Joe Taylor up top with Healey plus that lad from wolves

Decent workout against solid opposition. You could tell we didn't have a no.6 playing in midfield though. Definitely needs addressing sharpish.

Has Bruce Forsyth used to say "Good Game" "Good Game". We have a tough start to the season in what will be a very tough season

Can i just say for £22,500 a week (apparently) I could play up front and fail to hold onto a single pass….
Thanks Neil.

Good opposition. We started well, showed some good passing skills. Dropped off, and let them dominate for a time, but we didn't lose. Keep building on that.

Umm 1st half ok, just ok, some good things, ghe crossing has dramatically improved, nice football at times, some silly surrendering of possession at times though.
2nd half, what was supposed to be happening. Granted Sheffield United are a division above us and fresh out of the PL and it showed but the second half was a incoherent mess.

We’ve got a well organised side. We can pass a ball in midfield which has been non existent for a couple of years.
It feels like we’ve just enough players to be competitive but any injuries we are struggling.
Just need some pace at the back and up top. If we can get some prem young lads in who are half decent then hopefully it’ll help

The Sheffield Star described their performance has disjointed but that wasn't anywhere near their best side. To be truthful i am slightly worried about the forthcoming season and i honestly can't see anything better than a mid table finnish for us unless we strengthen the squad.

Hardly a reserve side, was it?
