No.6 is the position he's been brought up playing and generally plays that position when he captains his country aswell. What is a number 6 ? I have honestly no clue. It’s still a centre half number to me. Defensive midfield.

The Sheffield Star described their performance has disjointed but that wasn't anywhere near their best side. To be truthful i am slightly worried about the forthcoming season and i honestly can't see anything better than a mid table finnish for us unless we strengthen the squad. Why? On the basis of the Sheffield Star’s review? Good grief.

Video pass now available on the Town site for UK users but says it's 'not available in your region' at my overseas location? Are any overseas fans able to access it without using a VPN? Seems to work fine from the US They changed it to allow other o/seas Town fans watch it eventually. Anyway, a decent display against a good side.

Sheff United looked what they are tonight; A side filled with top end Championship quality, irrespective of their injury situation. They'll be well in the promotion mix at the end of the season. We looked what we are tonight; a side who should do well in League 1. We were an absolutely appalling Championship outfit last season. We're hardly going to get relegated to a lower division and then suddenly start sweeping teams from a higher division aside.
I liked what I saw from all of our new signings, and our passing game was a vast improvement on last season. However, as the chairman clearly recognises, we still need to bolster the squad. Fingers crossed.

Can i just say for £22,500 a week (apparently) I could play up front and fail to hold onto a single pass…. Thanks Neil. You don’t honestly believe he’s on that do you? Somebody actually told me this tonight, unless I was talking to Dunc.

Surprised by some of the negativity. Good competitive preseason match against opposition which will be challenging at top end of championship.
Nicholls was great - if he stays I will be delighted.
Spencer was very good imo and defended well - a couple of mistakes doesn’t make it a bad performance.
All 3 CMs looked tidy with moments of quality. Wiles continued his improved form.
Full-backs are athletes - will be ideal for us this season in Duffs preferred shape.
Liked watching Duff - vocal and providing instructions on the touchline. Also Kane was very noticeably talking and leading on the pitch which was good to see.
Main thing that gives me optimism is that it is clear to see a style of play with the ball and without the ball. It might not be the finished article straight away but there is a proper plan, which is a nice change!
Bring on the season - UTT

Really impressed with Wiles this season - both his passing and his shooting. I can now see why we bought him last year. Also, iIf he stays fit I can see him being one of our leading scorers.

Anyone got any more info on B team match today, like who played, goalscorers etc?
I know we won 4-2

It's really good to hear that the midfield of our team is a vast improvement on the dross of the last couple of years or so but,the spectre of the non existent striker still comes back every season to haunt us with our lack of ability to get a signing over the line it's like a fucking curse to be honest. We will probably kick off next week still looking for that in the box rough house who can smash a ball into the net to get the fans off there seats!! Healey is a decent player especially at this level but how good would he be with a partner in crime at the side?On the downside if he picks up a knock early Doors just what have we got as a stand in,Ward,Radulovic(gone missing)or Harratt ?

Really enjoyed tonight for a friendly.
On first showing, all 4 new lads look better than what we had.
People know I am behind KN and have defended him.to the high hills, but tonight shows we really need to go and get a striker or 2.
Healey (one I doubted when signed) looks really good, but of we go into the season like this, we won't concede many, but we won't score enough to get us to where we want to be.
Wiles, respect to him, looks like the player we signed but have not seen yet.
Come on Kev, spend that little extra on the striker that on tonight's showing, will get us challenging at the top.

There's no way we will come up as anywhere as near as good as tonight's opponents in League One.

i don’t know what people expected. we was the better team in the first half against a top end championship side…
teams in league one won’t have the quality SU have, so i don’t know why anyone’s worried? we are another decent striker away from challenging autos i think.
really looking forward to saturday, UTT.

Is it just me getting very very giddy? This is some of the best build up play and pressing I’ve seen Town do in years We’re seeing what a really good coach can do.

The rhetoric in here makes me feel like before we signed Alan Lee Alan. Alan Leeee. Alan. Alan Leeeee. I was at the emirates when he equalised. Absolute mayhem. We ran down to the front like wild northerners. The thing is though. That goal had been coming and were it not for Fabregas blatantly cheating to get a pen we’d have deservedly won that game. But anyway… Yeah we 100% need at least 1 striker. We really need a young centre back imo.

To be truthful i am slightly worried about the forthcoming season and i honestly can't see anything better than a mid table finnish for us unless we strengthen the squad. Ahmedhodžić, Souza, Arblaster, Hamer and O'Hare are up there as the best players in their position in the championship. As the game went on you could also see why Burrows is seen as potentially the best left back outside the Prem, very sweet left foot on him. First 30 minutes showed we've got something about us. We more than matched them. After that it was a bit one sided and we were hanging on but it gave enough encouragement to feel like Duff will have us looking like a proper team this season

What I do know is that had we had duff last season we would have had a better chance of staying up. He clearly has a plan. Calls the game honestly with both praise and criticism.
Helik and Nichols both looked up for the game and didn’t look like players that had a transfer in mind.
The desire to stop them from scoring was terrific.
Healey looked a handful. Koroma is close but juts needs to sharpen up.
Ward - literally lost the ball every single time it came to him.
We look strong in the left - Miller works hard and tries to everything quickly. Headley looked sharper tonight.
Sorensen - faded but there is a player in there. No back up though so something that needs addressing.
Wiles - looks like a different player. I hope he scores a couple early doors as I can see him becoming a key player.
I think like most on here we are need more quality in the forward positions.
But it’s a far cry from watching a Darren Moore team and it’s a million miles away from that clown we had at the end of last season.

Looks like Duncan's account has been hacked. He's literally the most up and down Town fan you could ever imagine. One day we're shite and the world's ending, the next we're brilliant and San Siro in 3.

I like what Duff has to say & how he says it: he appears very calm & calculated but you just know that you don't want to get on the wrong side of him.
Is the 100% pen he mentioned in the interview the one where the defender made a great challenge on Koroma to stop him getting a shot away? If so, I don't agree with him on that, the defender did great but Koroma really should have just taken it on his left foot, it never ceases to amaze me how many pro footballers cannot use both feet but it definitely wasn't a pen.

Thought Spencer again looked shakey on the left side but he will get used to it, still think we need a prem young cb on loan we pace and ideally Joe Taylor up top with Healey plus that lad from wolves agree with Spencer comment as much as I like him he is uncomfortable playing on the left. Square peg round hole syndrome. Yes he will improve over time but it's not a natural fit. UTT.

Yeah really liking Duff. Watched him a bit during the match and gives you confidence. Not to be messed with either - after one of their late tackles that hurt one of our players, he gave Wilder a death stare for about 10 seconds. Respectfully disagree on pen - it was a pen for me. Defender eventually gets something on the ball but only after pushing through Koroma from behind and knocking him off balance.

Need leaders to help others dig in. We rode our luck a little bit and have to say Nichols kept us in the game. Need to sharpen up upfront and take our chances. They had more options from their bench, we only had 5 subs to their 10, so we ran out of steam. We will not play a better side than SU this season. We held our own. UTT.
