Yes I got the same distinct impression, maybe wrong of course. I think what he has to realise is that we've been subjected to extremely poor football and failure, for a number of seasons now, and people had just given up on the club to some degree. The mentality shift takes time. We're never going to pull big numbers in against Morecombe, but i hope a fair few extra will buy tickets for saturday. I would add in that it's not just against a backdrop of a few years of being shite, but also that: 1) It's a cup competition. We've never done anything in the cup competitions. Even when we were good. 2) It's the League Cup. Of all the cup competitions, it's the one we've had the least success in, and taken the least seriously. Last night was our first win in that competition in 7 years. It's a competition where we've been consistently defeated by sides that we would ordinarily be expected to beat comfortably. 3) The "weakened team" argument. For all that I disagreed with those who wanted to play the strongest side available (personally I'd have made even more changes), there will have been people who saw 8 changes to the starting lineup & decided the club weren't taking it seriously. I'm not surprised that the crowd was small and the excitement level low. "Mentality Shift" is bang on. And it's a whole club reset. That was the message I got from the interview. It's not just on the players - the supporters need to do our bit too. OUR mentality needs shifting. A professional performance & a comfortable win that could have easily been a few more - two chances for JK (one unlucky, the other fluffed). 3 penalty appeals (Ward's first wasn't obvious, Ward's 2nd was blatant & with a different badge on his shirt would have had it awarded, JK's was the right call) and a couple of other chances - on another day we'd have bummed them in the gob. The fans should know now that whoever we get, in whichever cup competition, and whoever is selected to play - we're taking the game seriously. If we need evidence of that, last night was Exhibit A. I had my doubts at first but I'm really warming to Michael Duff.

You should become a football manager, it’s well paid! You already know more than a host of managers who Wardy has played under. Can I have your autograph? I wouldn't have been any worse than some of the dickheads they've employed in the last two years. I know mate, you clearly know your stuff. It’s really good money you know.

The tie was never appealing. Yeah more noise would've been nice, but a small crowd all in 1 stand with a comfortable win in a tie we were expected to win against a small team from a lower division was never going to lead to much atmosphere. Saturday will undoubtedly be better. Oh and random thought, I'm sure Tog said the ticket office was open post match, but unless I wasn't looking properly, it wasn't open These comments really make me laugh (not a dig at you in any way) because over the years some of our fans laugh at the bigger clubs when they don't attend home games when they get drawn against us. Last night for us, will have the same meaning if we were to draw a bottom end PL team.

We are now in a very different division. So is Danny Ward. His 'contribution' to the squad may change accordingly. If he stays, if he makes appearances I am then going to give an opinion on him. What has gone before is gone for me..I know all the rumours, I know about the sick notes but as long as he is here and part of it, he gets the leeway from me for season 24/25 till he proves otherwise. Be good if everyone wants to play and it looks like it.? In what other walk of life would this be the case? In the reality of professional football and players contracts?? Cutting off your nose to spite your face is costly and may not be your best move anyway.. We are discussing professional football, it is a world apart from real jobs and to treat it as real world stuff dors not help.😉

I quite enjoyed it last night, and not just the performance- being in the Riverside had me harking back to past times like the Iain Dunn golden goal game, the Pontins League reserve games, and the first silverware of the New Stadium era when we became Champions of Yorkshire... how that didn't get us a European place, I'll never know! 🤣

Just listened to Duffs interview, anyone get the impression he wasn’t too happy with the turnout and performance of the crowd today? Mentioned how good we were last week, but hopes with good performances the crowd will also turn up. I didn’t hear the interview but it feels a bit like a performance review at work. There always has to be an “area for improvement”. Nothing is perfect.

I reckon Maxwell didn’t actually handle the ball until the 55th minute last night. Unless I missed something that’s remarkable.

Unless I missed something that’s remarkable. 2 games where the 'opportunities' conceeded were very few and very far between??? No golden chances conceeded, no goals..🤔 5 goals scored.. Its early doors but overall 180 minutes of much better application and intent. Saturday is a game im looking forward to with much more than hope and a following wind...

You don’t win anything by never trying, Duff will change the mentality of the club and I think along with Nagle, this will be a good combination. Big clubs try to win every trophy and believe they can win every trophy. This is where we need to shift our mentality to.

If he scored three goals in a game, everyone would be delighted. But he doesn't. He got three in a whole season last season. He constantly misses chances, and offers very little on the pitch whenever he's on it. That's why people think he's poor. That’s quite funny. A bit of a quiz for you - name me the scorer of the last 3 hat tricks for town? What's the prize?

Difficult to understand the criticism on here after that performance. Korma might deserve to be cut some slack? He was a handful at the weekend and we know he can score. He deserves a chance to get his eye in this season. I trust this manager 100% so I'm sure he wouldn't play him if he didn't see that he will have a positive effect on games. Well done to Callum Marshall. His movement was excellent, took his goal brilliantly and the assist was superb. Big shout out for Headley as well - excellent performance. Kane, Kasumu, Sorensen.....all had great games. He needs to curry favour with some fans I think.

I did learn a load about scaffolding during his tenure.
