All of this 'we should be beating Morecambe even with our second string' nonsense. The amount of times that we have gone out at this stage of this competition against a poor/average side from the level below is astounding. Take it seriously by rotating no more than five from Saturday's team. 100%. Why should I bother going to the game if we are not going to take the game seriously as has happened in recent seasons? Duff said in his press conference that he said he was taking it seriously, why do you think he isn't?

Sorry I haven't listened to the presser, just the people on here, suggesting we should be changing the majority of the team from Saturday.

Sorry I haven't listened to the presser, just the people on here, suggesting we should be changing the majority of the team from Saturday. Presser basically said there will be some changes but that we want to win the game and it will be a strong team as he pointed out we’re only one game in and players don’t need resting.

Currently sitting on the plane at Dublin airport coming back for the game with my eldest.
Woke him up at 4am and he said “can’t believe we’re going to watch Town today!” 💙 🤍💙🤍

Working away this week, just had a quick look and seems only an audio pass available for tonight. Is the game only available to watch through sky sports + does anyone know?

Duff has said that he intends to take the game seriously. Ok, they all say that and we've not won a League cup game since our first season in the Premier League - but what more can the club do at this stage? My gut feeling is that Duff will have them taking the game seriously. He seems like the sort to. I can't guarantee that, but nobody can guarantee the other way either.

Hope you and your lad have a great evening!

My team for Tuesday Maxwell Turton Spencer Pearson ruffles Headley Iorpenda kasumu kane Marshall ward Likely line up.. Hopefully Austerfield and Harratt and Hudlin off bench to get moves away If they're cup-tied that'll make them less appealing to potential suitors, won't it?

Don't think it's necessarily not taking it seriously, but the amount of shocks and turn ups in this cup is insane, all across the board in the early rounds. I remember Siewert overseeing the loss at home to Cowleys Lincoln City. Apparently he was in tears at Canalside after the game!

We can make loads of changes from Saturdays starting line up and still put out a team strong enough to win. Expect Maxwell, Headley, Pearson, Kane, Ward, Kasumu and Marshall to start.

Last season 3 Championship teams (Sunderland, PNE, Hull) were beaten at home by L2 sides in the 1st round, if you approach these games half arsed then don't expect to be in the hat for the next draw.......I'm hoping MD will be a bit wiser tonight against Morecambe, Ernie was.

The two players I would definitely rest are Miller and Sorenson. Miller reportedly is quite injury prone so we could do without risking him in cup games. Sorenson we don't really have like for like cover for.
Play Healey as he needs goals.

Straight swaps, Pearson and Kane for Lees and Hogg. Then Headley and Turton for the 2 you mention.

Doubt it would be a contributing factor for a Lg1/2 side that a player wouldn't be available for a couple of cup games maximum. However, cannot imagine that Austerfield or Hudlin would be on bench.

One of my favourite Town moments actually came in the League Cup under Stan Ternent when we arseholed Bradford 4-0. I naively thought it would set us up for some good from in the league thereafter.

I agree with all of the above though Hogg could play in view of maybe the more progressive Kane on Saturday. That said Kasumu did well when came on against Peterborough and minutes be good for him. Lees only just returned from fairly bad injury so any chance to rest him I’d be taking at this stage.

I'd kept Radio Leeds on in the car even when I'd got past the good reception area because it was expected.

He got sacked after the Lincoln match but then Hodgkinson asked if he could take charge of the Fulham game on the Friday and then sacked him again.

He was sacked after the Fulham game, though Hodgkinson did spend the evening after the Lincoln game performatively on the phone walking up and down the touchline. That was a grim night though. An awful performance that sticks out because of how utterly woeful it was. Spaces all over the pitch, every player somehow isolated in possession, Herbert Bockhorn's one and only game making Houdoutu look like Cafu... (maybe not on that last one). Just looked it up and we didn't even use all three subs!

Yeah, that's fair point. It probably won't have a huge bearing either way. Personally I wouldn't pick either. There are 3 schools of thought on this: 1) Fuck it off, play the kids. Need to get out of the cups to avoid fixture congestion. 2) Play the strongest side possible and treat every game like it's the most important match in the club's history. 3) Use the cups as an opportunity to get minutes into the legs of fringe players. If 1, then yeah, stick Austerfield and Hudlin in there. If 2 or 3 (and I subscribe to 3), then I don't see a role for them.
