Surely to sell a football club you need it to be successful to a degree on the pitch. No-one wants a club who is struggling year on year even if they own their own ground. Nagle will be here to make money for sure but I don’t think he’s a charlatan who will up and off soon. Sure, he will see potential for development but it’s a calculated risk I’d say.

Because there’s no opportunities to make money in California. So all the people with any ambition there are leaving and flocking to post industrial northern England.

Bolton has no direct train to London and is bigger than Huddersfield. There have been roadworks to Leeds Road and the ring road for what seems like ages. Given the close proximity of the m62 what new roads of bypasses to we need? The size of the town doesn’t dictate how easy it is to build a new stadium. London is huge and Chelsea and QPR can’t find anywhere. The topography has a massive impact along with the amount of greenbelt that can be built upon. Major new road schemes, unless extremely necessary, are an environmental no no these days, rightly or wrongly. Wrongly. Unless you are a fucking idiot, captured by imbecilic Net Zero ideology 😀

Thundering main roads are awful, in appearance, noisy, mainly snarled up with traffic.

Because there’s no opportunities to make money in California. So all the people with any ambition there are leaving and flocking to post industrial northern England. Yes. Look I want to be delicate here, as Sacramento and Huddersfield have many similarities, and I fully understand the worry about outsiders coming in and turning a profit (and nothing else). But if this was a money play, there are far easier (and likely more lucrative) deals back home. The business feeds the club, and the club the business. What happens on the pitch, both now and in the future, is the top priority. Period.

But when you look at what's happened to some clubs in (very) recent history you can understand the concern from some fans. If you look up Bury, Blackpool (Oystons), Northampton and a few others you'll see there's been some right shyster owners.

It is almost certainly unfair on him to suggest nefarious motives (and, to be honest, I’m entirely uncomfortable with the stadium being owned by one man and would like details of safeguards inherent in the leasehold ownership by Kirklees Council), but KN must be aware of the history of unscrupulous people preying on the development opportunities around football clubs, hence cynicism.

The reality is that KN is putting in over £10 million a year just to keep the lights on. The ongoing infrastructure investments are additional to this.
We're already beyond the point where he's ever going to be able to recover his outlay without HTAFC being a Premier League club.
If that ultimately comes to pass, good luck to him, but his primary motivation is obviously more experiential (a last big career project to sink his teeth into) than financial.

My gut feeling is that they felt we were in a much stronger position when they came in (credit to Hoyle: he always was a good salesman) and probably expected we'd be able to get to the Premier League far, far easier than the reality; and that would open lots of financially lucrative doors (selling up and then funding Sacramento?!). I can't imagine for a moment that they expected they were buying a League One club in waiting. That said, I do get the impression that Kevin (and Dave) are genuinely bought into the club. Whether that's with a long-term financial goal in mind is to be seen, but as you say, that'll only come to light if we get to the Prem.

Town clothing everywhere, got his kids in Town clobber too, looked massively delighted when he met Sir Patrick, although maybe he's a massive X-Men or Star Trek fan. If they thought buying Town would be a quick buck-making exercise then Deano is 100% a master salesman.

If they thought buying Town would be a quick buck-making exercise then Deano is 100% a master salesman. A good man of ma own heart for sure ! I love cutting around in my very smart HTAFC clobber... Today it’s an old T-shirt for The Final Strimming, Tomorrow a different item in Bowmore town for the weekly shop, Saturday for the piss up in the best footy bar for sure of course, thereafter a Kakhi non football related top with the word Huddersfield on it and a Castle Hill motif (this circumnavigates the prtty ban on footy tops in the upmarket PC Hotel while still sticking two fingers up at them) - Back To Huddy gear for the 100 yard stagger to Lochindall Hotel and some working class industrial language ! 😊 Then all week up to the local shop, a week today on the high seas of The Cal-Mac Ferry, all runs into Oban Town from Connel for haircut, shopping, getting mama mia out and about, being in to town for curries (where I inform the guys over some banter that their standards must be high as there are pure fab in Huddersfield and Yorkshire as a whole) - Then it’ll be Town attire at Fort William pubs on the Friday then the bus then Friday Inverness Party.... The body will get a break from HTAFC attire on the Saturday as it’ll need to be the Mighty Clachnacuddin FC Lilywhite top for Clachnacuddin v Forres Mechanics !

Could be all sorts of reasons I suppose; the demographic/ancestry of people living there; they kept their French and Scottish roots better; Commonwealth nation as you say.

Could be all sorts of reasons I suppose; the demographic/ancestry of people living there; they kept their French and Scottish roots better; Commonwealth nation as you say. My late Auntie Isobel left The Whisky Isle, trained as a nurse and emigrated to Canada, met her hubby Mr J. Bird, had cousin Iain and Fiona and stayed there till the Big C took her in 1999... She came home from time to time but thankfully kept her Scottish accent thankfully (There are folks here who go on holiday to Canada and America for three weeks and come back with a new accent) ! Her ashes were scattered off ‘Granny’s Rock’ over above beautiful Kilchoman Beech in an East South East wind direction to line up to Canada 🇨🇦 Mr Bird soon found a new Bird who became Mrs Bird and Cousin Fiona wasn’t best pleased but I’m easy going and liberal and ‘life must go on’ is my mantra... As far as I know ‘Uncle’ John has also kicked the bucket however his remains stayed in Canada and the second wife probably got the lot (house and cash) hence Cousin Fiona being pure pissed off ! 😡

The regional differences of English is far worse than American English
Some Scots call everyone ken/say Ken after every sentence...imagine being American and faced with that
North notts where I lived for 15 years call everyone Duck...sadly I picked that up too
Not to mention the good old..is it a T-cake..barn cake..cob..bread roll argument
Chips with bits in Huddersfield....chips with scraps most others
