Best for both clubs, town get total control of the stadium and the giants can build something smaller and look to try improve their fanbase.

I think it's quite sad to be honest but I'm sure Davy and Nagle know better than I do. I've been to watch Giants less than a handful of times, I have NO idea why it's "a shame". Full marks to Davey though, he has played a lousy hand like a riverboat gambler. |

should be good news all round this.
Hopefully an indication that Nagle / Town are to get full control and develop the stadium and the site to the financial benefit of the club.
Hopefully the Giants build a stadium suitable to their attendances and one they can also use to drive commercial revenues for themselves.
Thinking a bit more about it, could Town women get use of the Giants new stadium to help them develop their attendances??

Probably almost as many away fans as home fans at a good few of those games though. Based on this seasons attendances 10 times too big rather than 4 times is probably more accurate. |

I’ve not lived in Huddersfield for quite some time now so this may not be feasible,but could the old Fartown site not be developed.
It would seem quite good to take the club back to their historical home.

Used to get some challenge cup semi finals, Rugby international games etc but that's all stopped. Driving range shut. Swimming pools shut. Gymnasiums shut. Now Giants leaving . I really like what Town have done with the ground this summer and hope Nagle can make a success of it. I suppose things haven't really ever worked down their like they hoped since the place was built. |

I'm not sad about the Giants going as that's for the best, but of course the situation is sad. The stadium was built as this optimistic, forward-looking investment in the town of Huddersfield, and its proud sporting institutions. Nobody has the vision, pride, or money to even think about a thing like that here nowadays.
It's ultimately a sign of how the country has gone to the dogs in the time since. The council can't hold up their end of the bargain because their funding has been progressively eviscerated by the government since 1994. They couldn't even afford to put a rugby league museum in the very building rugby league was founded in. For 20 out of 30 years of the stadium's operation, it has been mismanaged and allowed to decay. Town have been stumping up the cost for a while, but this looks to be creating the conditions for Nagle (or hopefully the club) to own the site outright. While a big swathe of land in Town gets taken up for another rugby stadium. Will probably have some new student flats included as part of the planning permission!

I always try and look at these things objectively and not allow the emotions of ownerships getting in the way.
I hope Fartown get themselves together again, because there are a few clubs who have shown what a bit of cohesion and decent recruitment can bring.
They’ve just struggled to gain any sort of momentum over the last few seasons, but hopefully a new ground might invigorate their fortunes, with or without KD.

This may be a bit of a curve-ball, BUT, I have had in the back of my mind the consultation on local leisure centres finishing just a few months before KD pocketed £9m+.
"Leeds Road Sports Complex (is) under continued review. We hope to keep (it) open, but (it has) the potential to close within a short timescale should financial or operational circumstances change."
Its a relatively convenient place with a train station nearby that could give it even easier access with a bit of development, wouldn't need a zoning change of use, would be unlikely to get significant planning objections for building stands around the area that currently hosts the 4G surface (or somewhere in the fields), and has space that could be turned into a huge car park.
Throw in continued use of community facilities and potentially the space to eventually throw in something to rival Canalside in rugby terms, and I could well imagine something going up there relatively rapidly.
No good for a ski-slope though.
