Its about the perception. Halifax is exactly the same as Hudds away from the Piece Hall...except smaller and with grottier grotty bits on the edges of the Town centre.

It's a spelling mistake 😅 I was born in Dewsbury and lived there for 20 years. It's in a bad way. But it's not significantly worse than vast areas of Huddersfield. There's good and bad everywhere.

I was on joking re the spelling mistake meant to put a !, every town has good and bad areas, just couldn't believe how Dewsbury had declined, I went to cex for a game for my lad only local place to have it, my daughter lives in Hecky now , never been to the place until 2 years ago so can't comment on the decline if there has been 1 or no she says it's gonna take 2 years to build the hub back?, had the biggest kebab I've ever seen there took 2 meals to eat it and it was bob on. Re the giants, I hope they build a new stadium, I have had around 7 season tickets over the years and the atmosphere is dire unless there's a decent away following, this is my opinion I think Ken saved the club, where was Dean then?, he rode up a year later, Ken is not a sports fan it was his wife who got him go buy Fartown, i have met him on loads of occasions and he is a great bloke, i know his daughter Sarah, he is a business man just like Dean Hoyle (never met him) he went from hero to villain, me personally loved the years under Hoyle it is what it is we move on, more important things in life than 22 overpaid prima Donna's kicking a balloon around!! God knows why they were refurbing it anyway, perfectly fine how it is/was and the space is nowhere near big enough for a proper station/terminus. All that money they were throwing away basically on a face lift when the place is less than a decade old, huge waste IMO

TBH I've not been to Mount Pleasant for a while; my mate Craig Lingard* was still Head Coach last time I attended a game, not sure if he's even on the staff anymore. Wasn't me that had a go about the shirt though, never really had a beef with the RL club personally** just Mr Burns when I was helping with FFA. And even if I did I wouldn't have a go at a bloke when he's got his kid in tow. * worked with Craig at JJB and then knew him afterwards when he worked at Yorkshire Bank in Dewsbury, before he signed for Batley. ** Knew a few Eagles fans back in the day so although I personally didn't mind the dwarves per se, I had some 2nd hand resentment

Tally Ho, lets just say the last time i went through Heckmondwike, i just kept my foot down but i think the whole of CleckHeckmondSedge is going down hill just like many other places in our once Green and pleasant land.
Huddersfield Giants, Fartown, call them what ever i have been to many a game over the years and they were the finest team ever to grace this country at one time. Rugby league founded in Huddersfield at the George Hotel in Town in 1895 Liversedge, Brighouse and Manningham all had professional league clubs and Huddersfield RLC was the major sporting force in the Town long before Town came a long. I say good luck to the Giants where ever they end up "Old Gas Works" it is the birth place of rugby league, just one of many things that Huddersfield is or was famous for.

Cheers, not spoken to him for easily 10 years, he was playing for an amateur Cas club when we worked at JJB together

Likely be at the former driving range. Heard the same last night from a reliable source.........They could start work within the year, would mean any HD1 plans (if still alive) would need altering.

Anything at the driving range would need to massively eat into the existing car park.

They're going to need to excavate a bit more of Kilner bank to fit a pitch and surrounding structures on that plot..

From Ken Davy's mouth, its confirmed there's THREE sites in consideration, NONE of which are the old Fartown ground or the Giants site at Laund Hill.

The only site in or near the Town center is the Gasworks other than that there is a site at Bradley or Salendine Nook by the old Wappy Springs pub, but surely you wouldn't build a stadium up there. Is there anywhere at Lockwood or Grimsca, plenty of land up at Lepton.

I can't see them building on the driving range site, surely eating into that much land makes towns purchase of the site much less desirable

Went to man city through work other day lots of building work ongoing but it's pretty impressive. If we can build anything like they have around there a mini stadium for giants and potentially the youth n women Even the store n ticket offices are different levels, the fan zones eating n drinking spots something similar on a smaller scale.was surprised to see that the RL HQ is based within the whole etihad campus. But ultimately it's on the pitch that needs sorting

I thought Lockwood Park had been ruled out because of bad access.

The stadium needs to be within striking distance of the ring road, railway station, town centre. Lockwood Park, the old Fartwn ground are ruled out just because of there dire access by road and public transport.
I can't really see either the gas work site or the driving range having a big enough footprint.

Personally can't see it being the driving range.
If I were Nagle I would make it into a "mini-Wembley" development. Mixed use with apartments for University students/private who would then use the area if you have entertainment, shops, mini-supermarket etc there.
It's within a 10 min walk to the train station and with massive upgrades to the line somewhere like that could become a great location with some vision.

Doesn't have to be on the same scale I know we are not paying that or as big to justify it. Just saying more on the concept of how it's been done as a good footprint. Also if Nagle gets the land etc he is going to develop it to get maximum revenue back.

Obviously not on the same scale but having a similar size ground to City's academy one nearby could have its benefits to both Town & Giants for pitch use & hospitality etc.........The HD-one development will not have gone unnoticed by KN.

Certain Town fans for 30 years - "Why are we sharing with the egg chasers. They're ruining the pitch. Why can't they leave and go somewhere smaller" Same Town fans "They're getting something new and shiny. Maybe we can use it too"
