To paraphrase Danny Baker - Before Cartwright arrived we were depressed and miserable. He's really turned that around, now we're miserable and depressed.

First 20mins we weren't too bad. Not to say we were great, but not too bad. After that, barring a short period in the 2nd half, their quality told. No great shock in a way when you look at how they threw money around like confetti in the summer If it was only tonight though.

What an absolute fucking disgrace that second half performance was. We created absolutely nothing, I genuinely cant recall even a half chance of any note. Should have been about 4 or 5 -0, they missed some absolute sitters. Some of the signings arent just bad signings, they are absolutely criminal. Genuinely was Ladapo actually scouted? Or did Cartwright just throw him a couple of years in desperation because he faile miserably during the summer? The worrying thing is how we are going to get shut of these players, or are we going to have to watch this until they all run out of contract, cus until a lot go, we wont be bringing anyone else in. We could be talking 2 or 3 years now until we can clear out this lot. We are plummetting down the table, FIFTEENTH after 9 games, just let that sink in. We could genuinely be looking at a double relegation because we are spent, performance wise, results wise, transfer wise, running of the club. Nagle needs to get off twitter, get his arse over here and sort this club out, or fuck off and let someone else do it who actually seems to be interested. While he is leaving the football side of things in the hands of Cartwright, there is still a long way further we will sink. I dont think I have ever known as bad a director of football at this club. We arent just signing duds, we are signing players that wouldnt look out of place in the Conference, that look like we havnt even bothered to have them watched by anyone. We all know that Cartwright wont go anywhere though, just watch as manager after manager take the fall for it. You look at all the players Birmingham have signed, they just got the transfers done. Now im not suggesting for a minute we follow suit with spending that amount, but we couldnt even get Taylor over the line. Just pay the fucking money if thats the player you want, or cheap out, sign Ladapo and watch him struggle to score 5 goals all season. Honestly, the amount of money we waste getting the cheap options, it would have been cheaper in the long run to just go for quality in the first place. This and this again. 👌 Print it and nail it to Nagle's forehead.

However, we spent just under a million on transfer fees over the summer; which on reflection was absolutely diddly squat for a supposedly ambitious club looking to rebuild and get out of the division first time of asking. You therefore have to ask how ambitious the owner actually is.

I was actually impressed with him tonight, he put himself about more than we've seen so far. You missed the winky face emoji to show you were taking the piss/being ironic. Weren't you? I should clarify I meant Bojan lol! Not a great performance but definitely an improvement. No words for how bad Ladapo is!

We have to work harder, perhaps at least supporting the man on the ball wherever he is on the pitch? The number of times we lose it because the easy pass or passes are not available quickly enough is becoming really fucking annoying to witness. The short backwards pass is always the most 'available' but given we dont then move to recieve it back the issue is moved 5 yards backwards. The team within the team of 3 players or so working the ball in an area or down the wide or middle is non existent. Individuals playing as such.?

It’s Barnsley up next at home so you’d expect a decent crowd given it’s a derby but the 3 home league games after that are Wycombe, Exeter & Bristol Rovers. We lose on Saturday and I reckon a lot will give up.

First 20 mins, pretty good. Miller a good positive. Kasumu played pretty well, gets over the pitch, gets good tackles in. Hodge looked pretty good again when he came on.
I think the major issues town have on the pitch are:
1) huge lack of fitness. Can't keep the concentration or pace (and we don't have much of that) in a game.
2) lack of direction. No matter what team starts, they don't have a real plan and they look completely lost. Formation? Tactics? Lack of understanding? Too many starting 11 changes?
3) lack of confidence. Too many times we go into our shell when we concede a goal or we're just waiting for that goal to be conceded.
All of this above comes from management/lack of management. It also comes from inadequate signings. It also comes from the top. Kevin at the top is responsible for all what goes on whether or not he knows English football or not. He is also responsible for all the staff signings.
It's just a complete mess at this present time.

I did not watch the game yesterday, how many minutes did Ladapo get? some are suggesting he does not look too good, was he poor?

I did not watch the game yesterday, how many minutes did Ladapo get? some are suggesting he does not look too good, was he poor? He came on with Josh Koroma whilst the scoreline was still 0-0. So probably about 60 minutes into the game. The ball was played to him and around him on several occasions. He wasn't able to get the ball or keep hold of the ball. He's not quick. He's not good in the air. He doesn't win free kicks but he has a habit of either being offside or fouling when challenging for the ball. He isn't any better than any of the other strikers and doesn't offer anything they that they don't.

First 20 mins was a big improvement & we were comfortably the best team, had a few half chances but we never bettered the chance for Miller in the 1st min, which he should have converted.
After that they were miles better than us & one of the most shameful things I can say about the game is that, at 1-0 down, we were time wasting at the end to keep the score down.
Pitiful.

Spot on and if it's not a chronic lack of match fitness it's literally money down the drain for two years. Not fit to lace Harrat's boots based on that performance.

I couldn’t actually believe how bad Birmingham were on the ball when playing out from the back. It was criminal that after that first 15-20 min that we failed to press them again, we had the players on the bench to change the front 3-4 players so there’s no excuse about not been able to do it for 90 min. They seemed willing to take risks in the last 5-10 min but we still didn’t even attempt a press.
I don’t manage to get to many games but no matter what I’m doing I’ll take a couple of hours out to watch our games, I actually found myself taking a mental note of how bad we was last night in the hope that I stop wasting my time.

That time wasting on throwings, etc, was shameful. No urgency or desire to find an equaliser, I don't think we even had an attempt after they scored? Piss weak mentality from a spineless bunch of players I'm really struggling to get behind. We needed a step change in the losing culture at the club but all we've got is even more fragility. Where's the owner? The Brum American owner is there most games, ours came for a couple of games then scuttled back to the El Dorado hills watching the club fall apart from afar. Where's the leadership when things are still going badly wrong?

Fair play to that Wagner bloke. He lived up to his promises and more after a poor first season at the club. I wouldn't expect/want Nagle to spend anywhere near as much, but I would have liked some kind of ambition from him. The office staff have some shiny new offices to work in and the pathetic set of players have some comfy chairs to sit in whilst they switch off at halftime though, so it's all good.

Did someone suggest our XG stats are the highest in the division? I know we probably shouldn’t judge this after tonight, but I’m struggling to think of too many times where we’ve pressed and created loads of chances in all the league games this season. We have an absolute damp squib of a strikeforce, Healey is probably the best of the bunch but he’s never fit… Hardly surprising strikers don’t want to sign for a team that creates very little for them. According to this website, our xG is 12.4, and we've scored 12 actual goals, so in general we are creating a lot of scorable chances, and taking them. However, I suspect the majority of these were in the matches up to and including Bolton, and not much since. We've also had two penalties, which will be a high xG contribution. But it also doesn't mean a thing if we're conceding as many as we're scoring (we've conceded 11 goals so far), and that we scored 4 of our 12 in one match.

Last night is not the problem the performances and results before are the issue. I actually thought we played ok last night and in patches well, just lacking the forward to put a chance away.
I thought Kasumu, Marshall, Miller, Spencer, Chapman, Pearson all had solid games.

Wow - both gave it away more than finding a fellow player and whilst both have energy and speed around the field, their quality is bang average.

Decent performance and win at the weekend and it will be much calmer on here, lose and it will likely be the straw that breaks the camels back….is it too soon to call a ‘must win game’?….

I live amongst Reading supporters who to a person think they'd have been lucky to get a draw and can't believe that they won. One of them even pointed out that the second goal came from a corner which should either a) have been retaken as the ball was rolling when it was played out to a Reading player or b) resulted in a Town free kick if it had left the quadrant when played to that Reading player as it would have been played twice by the corner taker. As they pointed out though we need to be converting more of our chances - now where have I heard / read that before?

However I had the feeling that wouldn’t last and it didn’t. We appeared to tire quickly (both physically and mentally) and if Birmingham had taken their chances it would have been 5 or 6 quite easily. The score line hides massive issues.

There were many annoying things happening on the pitch last night but one of the worst for me was when we have a throw-in in the attacking third as the clock is at 93:40. Get it launched and get the cavalry up; there’s twenty seconds left! But no, we can’t even decide who’s taking it.
Thought deciding against putting an attacking free kick into the box at Stoke last season and instead time-wasting and playing into the corner before half-time was a low point, but think that beat it.
What has happened to a team when they’re making decisions like that?

We were far from dreadful last night, it was actually a decent performance not without issues but it was not bad at all, taken on its own and many would agree it was a decent performance, the previous games mainly the home ones are the issue not last night. Birmingham are flying at the moment and they scored 1 goal, I admit should have been more but we also had chances. Perform to that level or better all season and we will be top 6. I for one want and think we need this manager to stay on and try and create something with the group, Mr Mark Cartwright I however believe should go and go soon to provide a new person time to implement his ideas with my hope being with Michael Duff in charge.

Let's agree to disagree, I thought we were dreadful, you didn't! We created 1 chance, in the 1st minute, not good enough. Want Michael Duff to succeed, at moment looks like we maybe playing our friends in Manningham, next season! Huge game this weekend, a win will relieve the pressure on MD, a loss will have some sharpening their knives - UTT.
