I think we now need to give up hoping that Bojan will 'come good'. He looks like an absolute dead loss to me. Aside from his goalscoring exploits in what's broadly-speaking a Scandinavian amateur league, there's nothing on his CV to suggest we should expect anything from him than what we've seen/are currently seeing. A total waste of money. He's missing (i) pace, (ii) trickery, (iii) heading ability, (iv) aggression, and (v) enthusiasm. He's not suddenly going to develop any of these skills/abilities. You could very well be right.the only caveat I can make is that at no point have we had him fit. When he came in January he hadn’t played since November or something? He’s then missed most of if not all of this pre season plus all of the season until the last couple of weeks. It looks like duff is going to try get him fit on the job(another reason to play him in a 3)….if….and it’s a big if…he can actually get somewhere close to been fully match fit and we still are seeing all the things you mention there then he truly wants binning off. If he can link play and put away chances when/if they come I couldn’t give a monkeys whether he has pace or trickery.Get him fit, play to his strengths and get others to do 50% of his pressing. After that if he still looks poor then his time is probably up. Also for what it’s worth I gather application wise the penny may have dropped finally, let’s hope it stays that way! I admire your optimism mate but to ‘play to his strengths’ we’d surely have to know what they are first. To me his only strength has been bullying teams in a semi pro League. How we managed to pay a million quid for this guy beggars belief.

Not confident at all. I've seen us win once in six years and am going to this one.

I think next 3-4 games there’s a good chance he’ll feature heavily so don’t think be long before we know 100% either way. He may just end up being a more exotic Kyle hudlin.

The energy levels of the team have been a concern to me in a few games, especially at home. Two weeks ago after beating Bolton away the lads should be ten foot tall & buzzing to get into the Northampton lot, but we looked completely shattered & drained compared to the Cobblers team........Maybe they need a bit more fuel in the tank, the preparation for home games will be questioned again if we look flat & lack lustre once again at JSS. We have not looked like a fit team since our loss to Notts Forest at Wembley. Not sure why, but we have not looked a team that could run for 90 min since then. We sold our 2 fittest players and haven't been able to replace them

It’s no coincidence is it that when a team is doing badly that these little injuries appear…
Ward - Calf again really ? Nichols - on going problem decides now is the time to get it fixed. Healey - hamstring ….. Helik - hamstring. Koroma - bad back Turton - where ? Ruffles - where ?
Team tomorrow
Chapman - done well so far. No chance with any of the goals
Spencer Pearson lonwijk Sorensen hodge Hogg kasumu miller
Evans Marshall
Midfield flooded in the hope they manage to pass it to each other.
No point playing Bojan - he isn’t anywhere near good enough. Koroma to come off the bench if needed.
Bench Maxwell Wiles Iorpenda Turton Headley Healey - ?? Koroma
No place for lees.

The fact that duff said Nicholls has been playing all season with a slight ligament problem in his elbow pretty much dispels your arguement about it being no coincidence. We also weren’t doing badly when Healey was pulled out of the squad. On Healey he won’t be in that squad for Saturday, that was stated yesterday too. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the same side as Tuesday.Although maybe lonwijk and hodge could be back in the 11.

If JK is fit he might not be far off with that starting line up, Lees could miss out having started every game (back Tues). We need to find our mojo in front of the home fans pretty damn quick, Town possibly (FAC home tie) have five out of the next six at JSS so we have to start turning it on a bit more & make the place a winning fortress........The next two have to be gut busting 110% effort shown, bare minimum.

Hope they ask why we ran out of steam after twenty minutes the other night. Is fitness an issue already? Or did they visibly slow down and stop running due to mindset or game plan? I think any team would have run out of steam, we were pressing like headless chickens, it was effective but unsustainable. They need to know when to press and when to sit. I thought it was telling that for all the pressing we barely intercepted a pass. Under Wagner we pressed effectively. Almost got us a couple of goals iirc so it wasn't all ineffective. You do see teams play like that for ninety minutes. Wagner's team never seemed to run out of steam. Bielsas Leeds team played at a ridiculous pace for 90 minutes.

I'd leave the defence as is, not seeing the hype around Nigel tbh. Doesn't really seem to be good at anything. A PL loan but playing at the same level be did two or three sessions ago. Suggests he's perhaps found his level. Shame we couldn't get some real PL quality although I appreciate it's not easy as a L1 team. Hodge has to play though imo, looks so much better than the rest of our CM.

Make's me wonder whether current training, is over zealous, with some Head Coaches introducing 2 training sessions. We've had far too many injuries, during recent seasons, despite better pitches, training facilities etc!

Can you buy tickets at the ticket office in the morning, presume pay at the turnstile if finished now?

We've had far too many injuries, during recent seasons, despite better pitches, training facilities etc! Was a fairly new concept when Wagner came in 8 or 9 years ago. Seems like yet another attempt to copy premier teams but with league one skills.

We sold our 2 fittest players and haven't been able to replace them We don't replace like for like we replace good with cheaper. They may not be fit (seen a lot of this recently), they may not be able to pass the ball (becoming almost a requirement), they are able to hide behind opposition players and the referee so they are not able to receive a pass (they must know that the majority of our passes would never find them anyway).

Pukki plays on the shoulder, presses, gets in behind. Radulovic wants the ball into feet, more of a potential link up player playing deeper. He’s lacked the physicality to do that to now. Pukki avoids that kind of clash and gets in behind teams, finding a yard against an exposed defence.

Teams never used to get into the early part of October with a 1/3 of players injured. It's beyond ridiculous. Players are out with a knock and disappear for months. And it seems to be every season. Remember the days with 11 on the pitch and 1 sub? Played on pitches that cut up really badly, no sports nutritionists or the tech they have nowadays… It always puzzles me why many teams are so badly affected by injuries in the modern era. Maybe it’s the pace of the game, or simply that players pick up a lot of knocks because of all the subtle fouls and niggling play that you see & that rarely gets punished in favour of letting the game flow. Whatever it is it feels like we’ve regressed in this area of the game.

But instead of backing off they've now got squads of 25 players and 5 subs to address the carnage this style is causing. Coaches need to slow it down a bit to preserve the health of the players otherwise you get what Town have, long injury lists despite the fact we don't have a 25 man squad of sufficient quality.

I think this is it isn’t it.They’re all expected to cover more distance per game and within that a certain amount has to be at a high intensity/sprints. The training is also that way too and they do more of it. I think in game intensity may well have not been too far off 20 years ago or so but training certainly wasn’t and players got more days off etc as managers used that as an incentive to get a result. So many more muscle injuries these days and it’s not just town,it’s all clubs. Also I wonder if the fact that generally the scrutiny on the manager is so much more than it used to be that they’re constantly worried for their job that they probably over play players for fear of losing. Add into that smaller injuries that players would have previously played through they tend to get advised now to sit out for a game or two.

I think you’ve got a point. Wouldn’t say it’s beyond the capability of players, but it really pushes their limits and makes them more susceptible to injury I think. On I Believe In Miracles (brilliant documentary) Frank Clark talks about how Forest often had days off and essentially did little in the way of fitness between matches. He used to go running on his days off and Cloughie bollocked him when he found out. That’s the team that won the European Cup.

On players endurance. You can see tablets on small stands in the dugouts, players data being analysed during the game to check I assume, on distance covered etc. this surely adds to the pressure players are already under to perform.
