Most liked RVLP, just a few fairly prominent fans were bleeding obsessive in their dislike 😂

Anthony Gerrard. A prick by all accounts, but I thought he was a really decent centre back. You were wrong

I've got plenty names for players that got a lot of praise, who I thought were shit.
I'd like that thread.

Interesting thread. Off the top of my head, Dalton, Makel, McAliskey, Lolley Dolly was a quality player

Chris Topping scored a great header at home towards the open end, sadly it was an own goal. Colin Russell missed a last minute penalty at Carlisle he hit the post and we should have won.

Who are some of the Town players you liked but felt like a lot of other Town fans either didn’t like/ or under appreciated? In olden days that would probably be best judged by reactions of Town fans around you during the game. Same is prob still true now plus you can add in DATM/social media commentary. Off top of my head and in no particular order I’ll go for: - Wayne Burnett - Lee Makel- Nahki Wells - John Thorrington - Craig Armstrong - Steve Jenkins (reckon most will say he was appreciated but also got a lot of stick on here towards the end!) Great player and an even better drinker.

Joel lynch maybe? Tom smith ? and to be honest i think for me the most underated player i have seen at town is Danny Schofield. I really do think his time at Town was underated. he was very effective for us . The whole Schofield managerial saga pissed me right off. He had been a good servant to the club as a player and a coach so to give him the job then sack him so readily given his service to the club stunk. One of the biggest blots on Hoyle's 2nd stint. As a kid, and even now, Schofield is probably one of my favourite players ever for Town. I was absolutely gutted when he was sacked, never wanted a manager to do well more than when he got the job. He’s in Australia now but I hope he can get back to being a head coach in England at some point.

I don't think we've seen the best of Scott High yet. I think I took longer to give up on him than most, if that counts. I think he'll still forge a decent enough career bouncing between 4th & 5th tiers, but never going to be good enough for us unless the arse falls out of our club..

Alex Dyer was not as bad as people made him out to be. Not great by any means but when I look at some of the shite he's been lumped in with over the years I think that's harsh. Could say the same for Ryan Edmondson.
Lee Glover - a striker that never scored. Came here on loan from Rotherham who were in the division below us and he couldn't get in their team. Never scored but held the ball up well & worked his arse off.
I'm a bit higher on Danny Ward than most people are. Same with Fraizer Campbell.
Sorba Thomas divides opinion. I'm very much a fan.
I liked Nahki Wells more than most people did.

Interesting thread. Off the top of my head, Dalton, Makel, McAliskey, Lolley See, we had two versions of Paul Dalton as far as I was concerned. The one that played for us was on the club's payroll during Brian Horton's time here, and the absolute world-beater he became once Jacko joined the club. I hated the first one. The second - would have got a lot more press attention had (a still in his late 20s and far too good for the 2nd tier) Paul Merson not been plying his trade in the same division at the time. Probably the steepest redemption arc I've ever seen at the club.

Alex Pritchard was very pleasant to me when I met him in hospitality once at HTAFC... 👍 Not so popular on the pitch though - Seen as a non trier and high falooting wage thief ! ☹️ 😬 I think EVERYONE is going to be VERY pleasant to a six and a half feet tall, twenty stone Scotsman, wearing his kilt and sporran! 😉 At least that’s how I picture you 😉 Given the relative heights of the two, I expect Pritch could look up his kilt whilst still stood upright.

Goranc Stankovic. Something about him just looked quality, Beckanbauresq bring the ball out of defence... Injuries did for him here. Always considered him a class player. He’s having a very decent career playing for Graz and Austria. *Slovenia, but otherwise agree with what both of you said.

Pretty sure he was going through a painful divorce and his mind wasn’t on football in that first incarnation (seem to recall it being mentioned in Tom Cowan’s book).

Jon Russell. Was excellent the season he broke into the first team and we finished third in the Championship. Always suspicious of why he was suddenly dropped for the play-off final. Anyway, his career went into decline after that. I’m guessing it came down to money (he was taken on as a B team player and probably thought he deserved a raise once he was established in the first team, which I’d say was fair enough if that was the case). Then maybe badly advised by his agent or became disillusioned. But no idea really.
Jack Payne - loads of ability, loads of clubs. Harry Bunn - an exciting player for a brief period.

Jon Dyson divided people but i liked him, when Ken Monkou and Chris Luketi were both injured at the same time i feared the worst, him and Kevin Gray carried on where they left off and didnt let anyone down.

From his first touch on his debut spinning past his marker to the remarkable transformation in his game when DW worked with him on tracking back. Add to this his ball carrying abilty and he was a joy to watch. His first half performance v Brighton is still one of my favourite ever Town memories.

Pretty sure he was going through a painful divorce and his mind wasn’t on football in that first incarnation (seem to recall it being mentioned in Tom Cowan’s book). I wasn't aware of that. I'd always put it down to Jacko being a far better man manager than Brian Horton. Which, I think he probably was, but given the added info you've just given, maybe that wasn't the whole story.

Every player who had a bit of flair but didn’t run a lot.
Your average Town fan in the promotion/Premier League period have chosen Hogg over Billing. Madness.
Well maybe not every player, Conor Mahoney was shite.
