Interesting how many ex-City players have been mentioned, Craig Armstrong, Lee Makel, Jacob Butterfield, Chris Brandon, Sean Scannell, Jack Payne, Nahki Wells and Lee Novak.
Wells and Novak the only players who did well for us.
Brandon was injured the whole time, Scannell got suspended then injured long term only to leave as soon as he got fit and Payne started really well then gave up when the going got tough and we finished bottom of L1.

Most of those names went to City on their downward trajectory. Wells was clearly looking upwards when he moved here, as were Duxbury, Reid and Sinnott, 3 others that jumped ship in their peak. Struggling to think of a decent up and coming Town player who went to Bradford. Going to City is basically either a pension top up before retirement or they're not good enough.

Most liked RVLP, just a few fairly prominent fans were bleeding obsessive in their dislike 😂 Think you have the wrong way round most knew he was a complete waste and his career tells you everything bombed out by all the team he as played for.

As a player I liked RVLP but I thought his character was a bit sus. I look at his time here in the way I look at last season. If you've got a squad of dedicated professional with one talented knobhead, the knobhead falls into line with the overarching culture at the club. If you've got too many knobheads, the culture becomes one in which the knobhead doesn't have to not be a knobhead to fit in. RVLP was good because he was alongside Schindy, Hogg, Heff, Kache et al.

At the time there was not deemed to be much to choose between us. We were promoted that year & Bradford had a poor season, but as I recall they were generally regarded as being one of the teams vying for promotion at the time - they were just poorer than most people expected them to be that season but then got promoted the next. I'd add Graham Mitchell went the other way in the Sinnott/Duxbury deal. Bilo the Bantam - how did he do with you?

Probably comes as no surprise that Paul Dalton is one of my all-time favourite players! After Paul Merson, he was the best attacking midfielder in the league one season.
I always had a soft spot for Steve Jenkins although his performances were mixed to say the least!

Michael Collins. He wasnt one for crunching into tackles which was maybe why he was underrated by Town fans as he was deemed to be a passenger a lot of the time. But he was involved in pretty much every good attack we had with a deft touch here or there. He had a good footballing brain and knew what he was going to do with the ball before he got it.
And of course an injury time winner in Beeston doesn't do his legacy any harm!

Billing aswell. Another one who didnt launch himself into crunching tackled very often and was dubbed idle despite all the stats proving otherwise. Id imagine hes played more PL games than any other ex town player already, with potentially many more season to add to that yet...which I think shows how underrated he was by some. The legend that was otium springs to mind! Think hed chuckle at how many PL appearances Billing has made now!

There's still plenty of time for him to end up at Bury RIP Oti Edit: Just to say I liked Billing and his languid style (not appearance obviously) reminded me of a certain Rev. Starbuck.

Mark Smith, left winger signed from Rochdale after having a good game against us in the FA Cup (a 4-3 win at Spotland if memory serves). He has an uncanny knack of running the ball out of play. I always said he’d come good, but he rarely did. The occasional piece of brilliance in and among. I liked him!

Chris Balderstone. Usually in the team if someone else was injured (Les Massie etc.) but good enough to be a regular at Carlisle when they got promoted to the (old) 1st division and to play regularly for them when up there. Anyone who played for Town and Yorkshire is fine by me, but he was even let go by Yorkshire to then find success at Leicestershire.

Little Joe Harper 😊
Seriously though, around 1964 we (briefly) had a little Scottish winger called Billy Fraser. I thought he was a very exciting player but he only made 8 appearances so I’m guessing that he didn’t have many admirers.

Duxbury had years with us before and after his one year with you. Was his peak conveniently those 12 months at Town..? Also, we had five years in an upward trajectory in the late 90s, whether we wanted to sign any Town players or not, is irrelevant.

His last season with us was my first year as a fan so I was a bit too young to comment. His last game was promotion at Wembley though and then he left before we started our season in Division One (Championship).

Duxbury was garbage for us and Sinnott only marginally better, I'd have said Mitchell was a better defence der than Sinnott was.
