I'm fairly sure I've seen Lee run past defenders and get away from them on a couple of occasions(only a couple mind) I cant remember seeing Rhodesy do that,I think that lack of pace might be all that ends up holding him back from getting to the very top Hes not fast but he's faster than Lee... Seem to remember him scoring a fair few one on ones where he has outpaced the defender...

[Diid we not once have a player with that name at Town in nineteen hundred and frozen to death? I was correct. Derek Parkin. Full back at Town and incredibly was transferred to Wolves in 1968(the most expensive full back in the country) Derek Parkin was a brilliant right back & was IMO good enough to have played international football!

What's with all the Lee bashing. He is a good player at the level. He runs through brick Walls for us and I'm sure Rhodes loves having someone like him as a strike partner. He ain't ever gonna score more than a handful of goals in a season but the other things he does more than make up for that. I bet the people slagin lee are the same people who wouldn't have afobe back! like what? I think the people who don't rate him ( myself included) can't really see he does much of anything to make up for his lack of goals.

Parkin's just a stop gap whilst big Al's 'away' I reckon once he's served his suspension he'll be back in and Parkin will be parkin' his 'arris on the bench.
He's no long-term player for us.

Another bloke brought in to encourage the old hoof up front to find his head. I hope to god the Rhovak combo gets chance to flourish before we have to use this bloke.

Remember him at York, big strong lad. Bet he does not get 10 more goals in his career. ; ) Did you or did you not state that Alan Lee would not even have 10 more shots on goal a while back (and was proved wrong as he has had 11 at a ratio of 1 nearly every 2 games ). just realised you may have said "shots on target". in which case you may be right. Loved the off tangent musings when you started off earlier this year but in all honesty much preferred when you showed your true colours talking about the violence in days gone by. It must be difficult to maintain your alter ego. I am not proud of old football violence nor did i ever seek it out as others did. Rites of passage and all that. Some kids grow up in war zones, some in Universities and others on the terraces! I said Lee would not get 10 goals and not been proved wrong yet!

WOrries me..LC has become obsessed with bruising Centre backs to leave room for LN and JR just like last year with 451 which costs us in play off final I would play JR and LN from start but obvious will be JP how fit is he? Also with size of our squad why do we need to go in loan market need to offload about 10 players!!

A great signing LC , this lad could make a big difference even if it is only for a short time. I've seen him play several times and he is remarkably skillful for a big lad, with quite quick feet and he is not short of a bit of pace over shortish 20-30 metres either. Lets go to Charlton aiming for a win even more than Im sure we would have anyway.

Hopefully Parkin will be nearer the player we probably thought we were getting when we signed Lee for so much money.

Funny about this Alan Lee knocking when he has missed games we have missed him! Second in the league, 43 games unbeaten and some fans still knock lads in the side. Get over it, leave them alone and get behind them!

I think you're going to be disappointed captain this is a like for like signing, however he is an inch taller and i think a fair bit heavier. ;D

I think I suggested Parkin as a possible for the target man we looked like we needed either last season or the season before, when he was still at Preston. May be a bit late in the day as I'm not sure he's quite as much of a goal threat now but he'll be fine as a replacement for Lee who's hardly been prolific.

His talent is movement and intelligence in the penalty area. You don't need pace for that.

For all his ungainly appearance and general size I recall him scoring some decent goals when the ball came to his feet, he's not just about powering headers in, or at least he wasn't when at his best at Preston. Potential as impact player off the bench when Novak has run himself ragged. Played under Terry Dolan at York early in his career apparently.

It IS a big game for us. We're sitting second and third at the moment and separated by only 2 points so, assuming things are similarly poised next month, it's either you opening up a decent gap on the chasing pack, or us leapfrogging you into the auto spots. Plus you'll be bringing a good following which makes a change in this league from the usual. I'm looking forward to it nearly as much as when our beloved neighbours come calling
