I'm getting the impression nobody's going to be happy unless we appoint Hughton or Lennon? With their recent clubs, we have to accept that they're not going to be easy to attract maybe you could add powell as he has been gaining some support as well. but one thing is for sure, whoever is appointed, you will NEVER EVER get EVERYONE on DATM agreeing or liking the appointment

He ticks no boxes. Not successful, doesn't like playing football. Please not him. Wait a second, let's not let sensationalist negativity cloud cold facts... He's won 2 SPL titles, came runners up with Hibs, and got Birmingham promoted to the PL. Didn't he get them relegated first?

I'm afraid if people are saying "please God no" etc to Alex McLeish then these people need to have a reality check on which team they want to follow! Can't believe some people would be disappointed with this appointment! Ticks so many boxes IMO what boxes are ticked that in particular strikes you as making him a good choice? and i am not suggesting not supporting him any less if he were appointed, but would not pretend i would be anything but disppointed myself Suppose it's all about opinions. I personally think McLeish ticks more boxes than Powell, reason being McLeish has had success at THIS level, yes his recent record looks poor, but as other people have pointed out you won't find many managers out of work that haven't been sacked. It's more the dramatic overreaction from some posters at the prospect of a McLeish being manager that I find baffling.

And don't expect subs until the 80th minute.

He's managed good teams for their respective levels (barring Birmingham in the Premiership of course). I don't know what boxes get ticked from a manager who won the league with Rangers, won promotion from the Championship with a team that were one of the favourites, got relegated from the Premier League, had a disaster at Villa, failed at Forest and who doesn't play good football. Powell to me just seems like a far better fit for our club.

not necessarily, more likely a few bets being placed based on DATM gossip He's gone from 6/1 to 2/7 in just a few hours, someone must be sure on him being appointed and id be surprised if they were going off what's being said on here.

What's the big problem with McLeish? Didn't he get Birmingham promoted from the Championship?

I would imagine its just been leaked that he has had an interview or maybe even one of the candidates that has been called back, far from done and dusted, although I was led to believe that they were making an announcement today to start work tomorrow and probably be at the game tonight........ So if hes gone odds on now, could be a done deal.
Personally, I think it would be a good appointment. He has managed rangers in the champions league and Scotland. You lot are never happy..

Now that the Kluivert opportunity has been dashed, I seem to have lost interest in all of this. Right now I couldn't give a fat rats arse who the next manager is. The ones we have to choose from all seem so much....less.

His success at this level was to get Birmingham promoted having got them relegated the year before. He then got them relegated again a couple of seasons later.

you're probably right 82 - funny how his name got drawn in to the mix though. I guess my point is - it seems to be the same old circus of previously failed managers that come around touting for business. Maybe that's being too harsh on them (the failed bit). But none of them seem truly inspiring.

Don't forget that Elvis went heavily odds on with skybet shortly before Robins was appointed. There has been some Billy Davies traction, down to 4's now.
