All proper Town Fans feel sick when we lose heavily as we have done over the last few days but we have been down this road many many times. A few good wins would cheer us and we would then cruise towards the end of the season.
As far as next season is concerned CP must change things during the summer then we or he can start again.

Not our dosh though is it. But it's mine going on petrol, match tickets, food and drink. That's why last night was my last game this season. Brentford fans must love their value for money

So are you saying you would like an owner who is a bit more generous/daring?
Spent £42m since taking over and only mid table Championship. Lower mid table, let's be accurate. I'd be pretty pissed off if that was my money.
Perhaps yes but I'm not really sure what your point is now, you seem to just be upset were not higher in the table like Bournemouth are.... I'd like us to be as well but you have to be realistic

Hoyle should not be pissed off with the fans. He should be pissed off with Powell & the players who are not achieving what he set out to achieve at the beginning of the season. In any walk of life, if the paying customer aint happy, then he has a right to complain. Why should he be pissed at Powell? Ask yourself this.....How many teams currently above Town, have a smaller budget for players then we do? And how many teams below have a bigger budget? If the answer is close to zero and quite a few, respectively, then I must be missing something... Because he's under achieving when Hoyle said he wanted us to over achieve this season and at least finish in the top ten. Now that is easier said than done, but Powell's constant negative tactics in setting up not to lose and hoping to nick a win is doing him few favours. If we had a rock solid defence and were poor up front then you could understand his way of thinking, but its the other way round and our defence is crap. Therefore he should be setting up to play on the front foot more often. It might not work every time but it would at least show people that he was giving it a go and maybe then a few of us might be a bit more tolerant. The point about the budget is overstated. Other teams in the recent past such as Brentford, Bournemouth (they passed FFP), Burnley, Blackpool etc over achieved because they have/had managers who could get the best out of what they'd got or are/were smart in the transfer market.

Just another point. Although I'm commenting on the Powell Out thread I'm not advocating his sacking. He should be at least given the summer to get the players he wants, but he has to change his approach to games if he is to get the consistency that we so badly lack at the moment.

Top 10....well how many points are we off top ten? Some might say 11 points clear of relegation is over-achieving Do you not think that your expecting quite a lot from a manager who's been here little over half a season, has offloaded half the squad to save money and has barely spent a penny? Sorry but Bournemouth have spent a fortune. Your right, every few years theres a stand out team that seems to do really well, but that doesn't mean they all had amazing managers and ours is crap. In fact Powell looked pretty decent when he finished 10th with Charlton in their first year back in the championship, did he not? Perhaps we should poach Ian Hollaway from Millwall considering he was so amazing for Blackpool then? Oh wait, we won't have to soon because he will probably get sacked. Honestly I just think some fans are absolutely unbelievable. To believe we have a divine right to be considerably higher in the table, for me is just ludicrous. I don't know why Dean Hoyle puts up with it.

I don't know why Dean Hoyle puts up with it. Read my posts again. Its what Hoyle expected when he made the comments in the summer & again in his report on the last set of accounts. So if you think some fans are unbelievable then you should count in him in that group as well.

Bloke who sits behind me has watched Town since 1950s and has said he won't be renewing his season ticket. Many will follow suit. Blokes who have watched them since the fifties have witnessed the really dark days, when town were at their nadir. To come out with statements like this is ridiculous, many people like him will be wittering and moaning from the same seats next season. Its possible we could finish in our highest position for fifteen years this season.

There was a girl in front of me at the game yesterday shouting and balling about how we're 'not f*cking safe' and that really made me angry. Ive had a lot of sympathy this season for Blackpool fans, must be awful to follow them at the moment. We've not gone out there and consistently had bad results after bad results like Wigan, Millwall and Blackpool. We've had some great results. Nottingham Forrest at ours, Ipswich away, Millwall away - all great games to name three. The way I see it there's 24 places in our league. Only one will win. Another two go up and three go down. Realistically we going to gain promotion based on where we are shopping for players and what we spend? As long as we aren't in the bottom three to me where we finish this season now is enough for me to renew my ticket. Even if we went down i still would. Because I am a huddersfield town fan and love football. If I didn't renew I would miss it. I couldn't support anyone else. In terms of Powell out - who would everyone want in in his place? Careful what you wish for. Id like to see what he does over the summer and the start to the new season now before thinking down those lines. Good post, powells only been in the job about 7 months and next season nobody remembers who finished 8th or 18th.

This over achieving stuff really is guff. Whilst we cannot go toe to toe with the financial big boys, I think Brentford have proven that you don't need to spend a fortune to be competitive. First point is that we have some bloody good footballers at this club. Second point: we do not use the loan market effectively at all. We sign tin pot full backs rather than influential midfielders, upcoming centre half's or young raw striking talent. Third point: we set up to not lose, but we can't defend for toffee without Lynch. We suppress the attackers to try and get a draw yet we end up losing 3 or 4.
All 3 points could have been addressed with a positive managerial appointment but no, we played safe and now DH stands to lose fortunes in season ticket revenue.

Only 43 million !! www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/brentford-owner-matthew-benham-every-championship-club-wants-to-get-into-the-premier-league-and-we-are-no-different-9336176.htmlIf you read that though the £43 million he's put in was over an eight year period up to gaining promotion. He's saying there that they will have one of the smaller budgets in the Championship (probably similar to ours). He also speaks about about spending what they have better than most, which given their performances & results this season appears to be working.

People seem to be forgetting Brentford are really an exception to the rule. They clearly have spent money but everything would appear to have cone together for them very nicely. In their case I think it will be very interesting to see where they will be in 5 years time.
Not a lot seems to be known about how much their owner is worth seems to have made his money has a professional gambler and owner of smart odds. He also has purchased a Danish club as well so clearly he is no mug.

People squeal about "why aren't we doing as well as Burnley... Bournemouth... Brentford" (maybe the letter B is lucky) You never hear "thank god we aren't losing every week like blackpool or wigan or millwall" or "thank god we aren't in the fourth division like pompey and Plymouth"... football isn't an exact science.. Even if it was then there is the slight obstacle of having opposition teams who want to win just as much as us.. some people don't get that .. they think all we need to do is either dean hoyle stump up... or "do X and Y and Z will happen cos it has at Brentford".. If only it was that easy.. That's not to say things cant be done better and that's not to say that people who don't always see the negative side of everything aren't as royally pissed off as the "moaners" when we get thumped 4-1.....

CP is to some extent responsible if we are looking for 'blame' in the last 2 away defeats....With a team containing Wallace(he would make Terry look shit alongside him) Carroll and Edgar what do we expect?

Damn right ted. Just thinking of clubs we've played the most over the last 20 years, guessing will be clubs like Carlisle, tranmere rovers, Peterborough, Stockport county, Mk dons, port vale. We are doing better than all those clubs. There will always be clubs like Brentford and people need to learn to accept that. But there will be even more clubs like Pompey, Stockport county etc

So the four players they have on loan from Premiership clubs are not on big wages plus the lad from Sporting CP .....er I don't think so... I don't care how much they are on, what really matters is how they have spent their money on a team that play the right way and good to watch. Add to that a position of maybe getting into the playoffs then we all know which club has done a better job. Three years at this level and still fighting to stay away from the bottom four or five is not progress, and many fans looking like staying away is only going to take us one way!

I don't know what wages they are on but its a myth that everybody in the Premier League is on a kings ransom. Some of those younger players in Premier league squads will be on no more money than the average Championship player and in any case the parent team usually continues to pay a significant portion of the players wage. We no doubt have Robinson on a similar deal and those are the sort of players that we should be targeting and not journeymen players like Edgar & Miller.

Watford was good too.
4th bottom every season, then! Aim high.
It's not about that is it? In my post I say if we go down I would still renew. But it's about accepting what is achievable at this level with money that's being spent. How many went to Charlton and or Brentford expecting to get a point? I know I didn't expect to get anything much there. How many went to Bournemouth? We pulled a point out the bag. We aren't playing Cholchester, Chesterfield or Yeovil anymore.

Their highest earner last season was on £4,500 per week which to you (I presume) and I is a lot of money but not so much in footballing terms. Granted their wage bill we have increased this season but I doubt its much bigger than ours.

If you bothered to read my post (I've highlighted the relevant bit), you might get a clue as to the solution I'm suggesting. I've supported the club for 47 years and those that know will know that I'll continue to do so whatever division we're in, but it won't stop me from voicing my opinion if I think something's not right.

Not sure why it's so grad to believe they may have a bigger wage budget than we do. Not a lot is known about how much their owner is worth but from what I've read he is obe of most successful European gamblers on the Far East markets which I'm presuming would make him a very wealthy man. Maybe oti could give us some indication of much money he maybe worth. But the fact he now has a 2nd club in Denmark would also suggest he us a very wealthy man

No doubt they have spent money but so did we when we first came up I just believe the difference is they have used the market a lot better than us, some smart signings like Andre grey and then some very good use of the loan market to get players in to suit the style they want to play.

Well that's two years less than me mate....we're in the Championship and hey it's competitive - last time I looked were still in with a chance of being in the top ten....I'd rather think of that than the constant diet of doom, desolation and perverse defeatist gloating you get on here. As I've said elsewhere - supporting a club like Town or indeed any club does nt come with conditions....you're either in or out and there's never any guarantee of success....in effect you're still saying we need to spend someone else's money and go into further debt...and isn't it terrible all these other clubs with the same aspirations as us keep trying to beat us.... I'm not suggesting we get ourselves further into debt, but I am suggesting that we spend the money we have got more wisely, on better quality. The fact that we've shipped a good number out in January and with Edgar & Miller only here until the end of the season (hopefully), there should be funds available in the summer. As I stated earlier in this thread, I'm not advocating Powell's sacking, but he needs to be smarter in the transfer market and adopt a more positive approach to some of the games. We might then achieve the top ten finish (next season) that Hoyle talked about last summer.

The forshaw transfer tells a story in itself. brentford seem to be in a position to invest transfer fees straight back into the squad. Most of the transfer fees we've received have gone to balancing the books. Hey you've supported town for many many years and I admire and respect that so you are certainly entitled to an opinion more so than me
