Based on what he did at Charlton in the Championship and what he has done here I applaud your optimism but would hope Dean see the light and get shut. I don't think he knows what a good player is or how to coach one. Both silly posts but not unexpected The spark seems to have gone from both team and fans. Has anybody any faith left in Powell ,and if so "why ". ?? |

Robbed v Norwich. Freak result v Fulham. 2 missed penalties the other week. Not really had the rub of the green have we? Er, yeh...seeing as we have been outplayed in all but a handful of games for almost 3 seasons. Fortunately there are worse teams than us each year, just. I will never listen to the happy-clappers on here because by simply being "fanatics" their view is skewed, blinkered and overly optimistic. Continual underachievement (over 40 years), the continual signing and overpayment of average players (35 years), poor transfer market negotiation both in purchasing and selling. Negative tactics, boring, useless managers and a club whose profile is now so low fans are leaving in droves. No good players, no coveted players, little skill, less entertainment. An academy that seems to be producing players who cant make the step up, a ground and atmosphere that is stultifying. This is not a recent trend..this goes on and on and on. Have we won a derby? Have we battered anybody? Any cup runs? Any new players breaking through and giving hope (Bunn perhaps?). No, its not we on here who are negative for we don't give up....its the bloody club and its completely mercenary players. Its contracts, Audis and Nandos...club history, pride and love of the Town are as worthless as a bank-note on the Moon. Not too long back when we beat a pitiful Millwall side folk on here were writhing in ecstasy....how hollow it all rang. Since that AMAZING result we have one win in 11...just about what we have deserved. I dont expect us to win more than 30% of games, i dont expect us to win trophies, i dont even expect us to ever get to the Prem but i expect loyalty, fight, entertainment and some occasional skill and the odd glorious victory. 99.9% of people on the planet would bleed buckets for 5 grand a week and a footballers lifestyle. A shameful state of affairs. |

I think the commentary makes games much more interesting than they actually are.. if it sounded bad, guess what it was like watching..
kick it long, don't chase it...
get it wide, cross it to no one...
2 passes and then give it back..
back away when they get it and try and win it outside our box..
stand on the ball when you get it and wait to be robbed of it..
added to that they were as clueless and lacking intent as we were..
both clubs should apologise to everyone who paid..
powell/gray, your teams are fucking awful and your idea of football will kill the fucking game long before the money does..

im surprised people are surprised that this game was dreadful - both teams are on the beach and anybody that watched the first encounter at ours knew the only highlight was may and murphy clashing several times. least we are now unbeaten at their ground on last 5 visits

I do believe we have a good manager. I also believe that the mindless sheep like vogue of swapping and changing managers is not a good thing. Watched the end of the Arsenal game today - wow they moved in to second, just a few weeks ago there was an article on TV about "loyal" fans wanting Wenger replaced. They are, IMO, utter tools. |

A point away from home is only any good when you win your home games - but we don't do that either. How many games is he allowed to go without winning before getting the boot. Hopefully not much longer. I hope and expect him to have all of next season after reshaping the squad in the summer, it was obvious to me that our January dealings meant it would give Powell greater flexibility in the summer window. I hope he can take us onwards and upwards next year, I never want to see Town lose so a manager can be changed. .... but it's been stated that the only Incomings in the summer will be to replace/match outgoings. So your expectation for new faces in the summer should be limited. |

This forum has all but turned into the original message board on the examiner website ie a small number of vitriolic malcontents dominating who mostly don't even attend matches and put others off reading and posting. Where is the camaraderie the laugh of being a fan? It's the club's apparent support that's out of balance not the club. I think a few people have seen too much motd and other edited highlights. The internet is the ultimate cheap troll bully arena and that's coming from someone who makes a good living out of it.

The fact that he can't work it out speaks volumes and you are right he did used to post with good intent but unfortunately Moaner30 once got a good response from the messageboard and gained a good reputation by being controversial and the rest is history. The message board is now full pf them, budding Katie Hopkins and adrian Durhams who have to keep up a persona just because they get a reaction and their natural style probably wouldn't hack it. The sadness is DATM used to have it's own ambiance at one point and even at the clubs lowest ebbs of administration and possible liquidation and even relegations there used to be support, positiveness and mostly humour. Now it's a free for all, full of wind up merchants, posters with multiple identities, opposing supporters and suicidal supporters who slit their wrists when the opposition get a corner. 6 months ago i'd more or less given up on DATM but it's great to see that more and more people are fighting back and counter acting the negative attention seekers. Old faces who knew what DATM used to be about are fighting for the integrity of the message board and i have to put my weight behind it. Power to their keyboards. I've said it before loads of times and i'll say it again there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism and negativity with a bit of understanding but a lot of the times the criticism is unfair, unbalanced and without any understanding of HTFC and our past. |

There was a comment on radio5 yesterday,have players lost the ability to think for themselves ?
The reason for this comment, and i can't just recall who made it, was the introduction of the statistical performance analysis in football.
I don't know how this is used in team selection or match planning, but for sure it is. Yards run, passes completed, area of the pitch covered and so on...it's all there. I suspect this mass of data analysis is not far from actually being able to actually pick a team and calculate the tactics for each opponent we play against. As data is collected during the game the computer churns out over and under performance statistics, suggests tactical, formation and player changes and probably makes the managers job redundant. So, don't blame Powell, blame the bloody software.
