On 1 January 1962, before they reached international stardom, the Beatles auditioned for Decca Records at Decca Studios in West Hampstead, north London. In what is considered one of the biggest mistakes in music industry history, Decca decided to reject the band, selecting instead Brian Poole and the Tremeloes.[1] The man who never made a decision is the only one that never made a mistake, hey Ted? Cue link to Arfield thread?

Cue link to Arfield thread? Totally agree RE making mistakes .. totally disagree RE using arfield as an analogy .. an arfield analogy would be Decca signing the Beatles and then the Beatles producing two years of dross singles which didn't sell .. they then are released from their contract .. parlophone decide a speculative punt as the Beatles had shown some promise in the Hamburg nightscene of the early 60s.. on signing for parlophone the Beatles discover LSD and write some hits

Wonder what Terrier Luke is doing now? My guess he's emigrated and living under an assumed name somewhere. Not only would he have to stand the ribbing on here, I expect he spouted this sort of shit regularly with his mates... He's probably part of the bull-shitness protection programme, living in Dungeness or somewhere equally tropical... Works for the club. No he doesn't.

18 months or so since he was on here. Seem to remember he was a "reasonable" goalkeeper when it came to football ability. Like many posters on here, (including myself) he backed himself into a corner when arguing over something. In his case Vardy. His corner was bigger than most, though. Come back Luke - we won't hold it against you, honest. Edit. To be fair to him too, there is no one, and I mean no one, on this board - or in the scouting community professionally - who would have predicted Jamie Vardy's meteoric rise since then. Even when Leicester were arseholing us 6-1 a couple of years ago and Vardy's smashed one in - you wouldn't have predicted he (or Leicester) would be where they are now. Not sure he even started that day. Could have been Nugent and Woods. with leicester a good few were still predicting 'meltdown' a month ago.. the defeat by Arsenal was also the 'turning point' apparently.. football isnt regularly this interesting, especially in the premier league.. first season for a long time I have had any interest in the top division.. As for Vardy, he was always wick and he did work hard. The basic ingredients were there to be worked on and its been a question of time and being in the right team at the right time. Predicting that from where he came from and where he was 'stuck' for a while would be a work of Nostradamus..

What I remember from the Champioship as well was that his shooting was unhesitating and unherring. It's been great seeing well built sides like Leicester and Spurs trumping the bought in sides.

Always nice to revitalise this thread every time the pending Premiership tops goalscorer/title winning/England international has a great game.
Has anyone ever been any more wrong in their entire life.

Why can't I call him useless? It is a forum of 'opinions' so many keep saying. Thing is, i can comment on his ability first hand as I've played against him on three or four occasions. The lad will NEVER cut it as a professional footballer. Think he would be useless for us so you are vindicated in that sense. Don't know how you can say he will NEVER cut it as a pro though...?? Ahahaha

Terrierluke backs up the stereotype of the Saturday night 'footballer' down the pub.
Knows much more about football than you because they play on a Saturday, at the back of a retail park against hungover men, some of which get paid a tenner for coming along.
Oh, and the football system is completely screwed because none of the scouts or coaches at professional clubs agree with his opinion.
What a titty head

This will never get old i hope it does tbh, because basically - fuck Vardy and what he could have done for us in some league 1 parallel universe where Clark signed him. I'm much more exited about our current signings to gaf tbh.

This is just sad. People are allowed to be wrong. They are indeed, but then there are the details to which he goes into that makes it just silly. I've said a players shit before and he's turned out good. I haven't said I've played with him or against him, know what its like at that level etc etc blah blah blah. Its just fully laughable

Comes down to hindsight being easy but foresight being hard - but don't be firightened about giving your opinion if there is a bit of common sense behind it.

Every club has made mistakes. Every club has passed on a player that at the time was considered to be not good enough. Even the best. Pogba at Man Utd. Lukaku nearly went back to Chelsea. I don't loose any sleep over Vardy, Lambert or Arfield. You can add Cameron Jerome and Fraizer Campbell slipped through our fingers too. Yeah, it's a shame and yeah we'll never know what may have happened had we had these players but let's be honest, we've not done too bad without them have we?

It's a fine line between Jamie Vardy and Lee Novak.
What was the tangible difference between them before they broke into the pro game?
