Where would you recommend placing a huge one though? Not knocking the idea, but worth thinking about it logistically True, I was thinking either over the FMU barrier? or on the wall behind the FML?

The wall behind the fm lower is actually about 3 metres behind the stand so is impossible to reach. It's an optical illusion like people thinking is has no roof. This is a brilliant idea and I would happy to contribute. It would a good idea to ok it with the powers that be before you turn up with a massive flag. I've had one confiscated and I've seen people turned away without a fire certificate.

I'd avoid using "ARISE"...it'll just look like "ARSE" from other stands, TV etc.

A lot of these type of flags are permanent fixtures at grounds, they aren't removed after games, the ones at Old Trafford aren't anyway.
I like the designs, they are a good idea, but as someone said good luck with covering up advertising space and the like. Plus, despite whether they come with a fire certificate I'd be willing to bet Robinson would have summat to say about em.

I designed and drew the original logo you have used for the top three suggestions. Not too pleased to see them redrawn although I know you were just doing it as a concept, kind of feels like someone stealing my work though. It is a logo though so not sure what they think of this? If you did use it I'd much appreciate using an original version, no offence to your artwork but hopefully that's understandable. I'd take it more as a compliment rather than someone stealing your work....seeing your logo adorned on a giant flag in the ground, couldn't imagine a better compliment. Like you said though it's only a concept to get the ball rolling and it was never going to be used cos it's not mine, would be great if you could contribute some flag designs though.

Yeah I'd be happy for it to be used if the person I did it for is also happy for that (Guess it could work as free advertising ) I'd just appreciate being used in its original format if it is though. I'd love to contribute some designs in the future though, I do like the idea if you can pass it with the club.

Regardless of logistics I'd be happy to chip in for this too.. Love the "Arise Sir Dean mock up, and the Herbert Chapman idea - though on the latter I think we should act with a touch more class than the slightly cocky "History - You've either got it or you haven't".....
As someone said above, putting up a poll would be the best bet I'd imagine - and certainly the fairest way of getting what the majority want.
Great idea though - kudos to Smithfield Building

Can we not get sponsored by a company for these?

I'd definitely chip in. Think it would be best to either organise it through HTSA or nominate someone to approach the club first to see where banners could be put, so then we'd know what size and shape they could be. Wonder if there's enough space in the corners to get some big square ones set slightly back from the pitch? Would be great to get one of Chapman in the riverside/north stand corner as it could be seen on telly. In terms of the funding, presumably you could use something like www.crowdfunder.co.uk with maybe all donations going into the HTSA account. Then have a poll to see what everyone wants on the flag - surely Deano and Chapman are two musts? Not sure in terms of players, other than Boothy and maybe Lillis.

@dappertherapper, would you be interested in taking lead on this i.e. collecting funds etc?
As above posted has noted, crowdfunder.co.uk looks ideal.

Can we not get sponsored by a company for these? I think the funding and ideas should come solely from the fans, don't want to have to plug a company on our banners.

Agreed, with enough contributions this would be more than affordable. With twitter/FB plus some promotion from the club we could easily generate enough publicity/interest in this idea.

I'd avoid using "ARISE"...it'll just look like "ARSE" from other stands, TV etc. Hang this next to it so they can tell the difference.

Whatever happened to the "giant shirt" that used to be on the pitch.
Always looked like it would make an ideal pre match crowd surfer.

Just remember that we don't have the stand full-time YET. Fully behind the flags in general but bear in mind that we aren't all sat together every week YET. So don't get the monk on if the flag you part-paid for lives in another stand temporarily! I'm sure we are all grown ups right? PS - Looking forward to Saturday!!! UTT!!

Im in. Chapman and Hoyle are a must. Boothy and Illis too. Surely Peter Clarke should get a mention? Mark Robins - the chosen one. I do know somebody who has a printing place, I could get some rough quotes? Does mean lining the pockets of a Bradford company though. IMO all the big toilets should have Leeds and Bradford badges on the toilet roles too.
