Whatever happemed to that huge flag that smelled of chip shop curry sauce? It surfed the Millenium Stadium play off, and I vaguely remember it surfing across the Kilner Bank at least once if not twice since then, plus a couple of away games. Bureaucracy, health and safety, people with degrees in clip board management and Mr Robinson probably all contributed to banning it.... Of course incase somebody suffocated or choked on it or something similar. The big flag was never banned I read this on here a good two or three years ago. Emailed Robinson about this and he said the bloke just stopped bringing it. Dealt with Robinson on a few occasions and he's been fair and decent with me on all occasions (can't speak about anyone else). Revocked my ban and is not against flags in the slightest. You just have to make sure you go through the right channels, no matter how daft they may seem.

If the OP (or anyone else involved) creates a poll, we might have a rough idea of how many people are interested in contributing. Also, it might be a nice touch if the names of everyone who put-in could be sewn/stuck/written on the back of the flag. UTT

I've already set up a Kickstarter to use as a funding thing.
Thought it was best to let it mull whilst we went through our dire patch and positivity resources were needed elsewhere.
Someone in this thread has said they've emailed the club so maybe wait on their reply before we take it any further?

Great idea- once (if) we get the go ahead, whack the link in a thread and see if admins will sticky it. I suspect you'll get plenty of funds raised in that.

Although Dean Hoyle is encouraging us to bring flags we are forbidden to do so by the safety officer.I have read the stadium rules and have emailed a request today and receive a prompt reply. Bellow are both. How do Middlesbrough ,Man U, palace, Liverpool and other clubs get away with displaying banners and Liverpool ' s case flags? Have we got different rules at our stadium? EMAIL. I am intending to bring a banner to place over empty seats in the fm lowertomorrow. It says htfc on it and measure 6×1 metres . It is a few years old and was last used at Old Trafford for the play final. It has no fire certificate because it's homemade. It would be taped securely to the empty seats and I do not intend to move it before or during the game REPLYThank you for your email Unfortunately due to the size of your flag, it would require a fire certificate for us to permit it to be displayed in the seating area, therefore, it cannot be brought into the Stadium for tomorrow’s game. I understand that the policy regarding bringing flags and banners into the Stadium is available on Huddersfield Town’s web site. Regards John K Robinson Safety Officer Kirklees Stadium Development Ltd The John Smith’s Stadium Stadium Way HUDDERSFIELD HD1 6PG The best way to get around this type of person is to ask them for the solution. So - "We ( the Town Supporters) would like to show our love for our Team/owner etc. by having a banner at the games. What would we need to do to make it safe and acceptable." Then see what his response is... and take it from there. He will either tell you the solution or start to hang himself. Simples.

I think you'll find every stadium in the country (including Wembley) have the same rules regarding flags over a certain size being flame retardant. This isn't me sucking up to the club or Robinson, just don't see what you expect. His obvious answer will be, bring a flag that is ok with the stadium regulations and we won't have a problem. He won't be hanging himself. Edit....For those that don't know why it would have to be fire retardant, it would only take one drunken idiot to ignite it with a lighter as it passes overhead.

I was hoping to see if the club and players would chuck a few quid in Aswell.

Think Dean has shown his money, and there seems to be enough interest here to raise some funds for a decent effort.

Agreed- would rather the club spend any money on getting us behind the goal and subsidising season tickets in there. Don't think we should push the club for contributions on this- should be a fan thing to show our intent to make something of the stadium and atmosphere.

Thought it would be nice for the players to match our donations. I'll be contributing and I still want it to be a fan thing. Peter Clarke deserves a banner btw.

Not sure about flags for existing individual players, especially if your talking about something thats going to be jointly funded by the fans. Someone went out and got a Pilkington banner done, three months later he'd been sold.

A great idea, who will we hand over our donations too - assuming the club approves the flag?

The worlds gone mad with the 'what ifs'.
Odds on One lunatic, pissed up, deciding to burn himself and others means all flags have to be fire retardant.
Sensible yes - likely to happen - course not.
Same sad idiot could also get pissed up and decide to light the clothes of the person sat in front of him - so do we ban clothes or make them have a fire retardant certificate before you can get into the ground.
Not a pop at you Cod but when will this madness end - whatever happened to common sense and personal responsibility.

[/quote] I agree Jimmy, but if you were responsible for all health and safety aspects in the stadium in this litigious day and age would you risk it? I know I wouldn't. Idiots and self responsibility do not go hand in hand I'm afraid. But I agree with the sentiment.

Great idea. Would definitely stick a tenner into the pot.
I agree with people saying that we couldn't expect the club to allow us to hang banners over potential advertising space, but there is plenty of space on the wall below the FM Lower to have a few banners. Needs to be done right though, having one banner on the wall behind the FM Lower would look a bit naff, but having several stretching across the whole stand like the Stretford End would look brilliant.
Get the wall sorted, then have plenty of banners in the stands. Would look quality.

Can someone make a flag with detachable blue bits so we can just have a white flag to when we're losing?

The best way to get around this type of person is to ask them for the solution. So - "We ( the Town Supporters) would like to show our love for our Team/owner etc. by having a banner at the games. What would we need to do to make it safe and acceptable." Then see what his response is... and take it from there. He will either tell you the solution or start to hang himself. Simples. He won't be hanging himself. Edit....For those that don't know why it would have to be fire retardant, it would only take one drunken idiot to ignite it with a lighter as it passes overhead. So if that is the "only" requirement, then he has already told you the answer. So don't try to get around it, accept it. Let's face it, Dean & the Club would not contribute, or condone something that is not done correctly.

Did anyone from the club reply re: getting their support/permission for this?
I did a Booth one in work while bored the other day. I'll neaten em up tomorrow and put him, the Dean and the Chapman one to a vote.
