I hope he remains injury free and enjoys what playing time he has left. He'll probably jack it all in after another 2 or 3 seasons and I still wouldn't be surprised to see him turn up to a few town matches after he's hung his boots up.

He's on 5Live at 4:15 for anyone interested. Stead seems to be playing down any connection with Huddersfield Town even though he is still a town player . On the way via taxi to Torquay this morning , i heard someone on a radio show ask why town had put Stead out on loan when proving that he can mix it with some of the best premier league players. Have yet to hear Stead mention that he is a free agent come the end of the season, and sometimes nowt like rattling your own cage. I'm assuming you know the full inner details of the stead loan arrangement Sugy ? Cos if not then for God sake shut up and give it a rest

No, pay his wages for less than a week and collect a fee before the end of the window. We are liable for his wages all the while he is under contract, pull a stunt like that and it could backfire big style. We don't know the exact terms of the current loan agreement with BCFC. In return for a rest of season loan rather than a fee (and with a guaranteed bumper paycheck to come from the Chelsea game) they may have agreed to pick up all of his wages. And with Paterson gone and Vaughan playing in a face mask we would have every justification for recalling him. We have no other recognised strikers with first team experience, let alone first team Championship experience. I don't think any of us could see Bunn or Scannell doing what Steadinho did on Saturday. I agree it's not going to happen, I'd just like to think that we considered the option. Of course we may have a loan striker signing pretty much sewn up in which case it's all academic anyway.

Agreed we don't know the exact terms, but do you really think Town would agree with Bradford that they keep him for the rest of the season desperately hoping Vaughan would not pick up an injury? We wanted him and Paterson off the wage bill and one good performance for a division one team doesn't mean we were wrong. Let's see who comes in.

A brilliant effort but falling on deaf ears, Coddington!

Did well again last night, Hanson always looks more an out and out striker though.

Parkinson seems to know how to get the best out of him! Everything from you has to be a swipe at htfc.... Maybe stead is playing better cos he realises he is at the arse end of his career and needed to pull his finger out... Or maybe it's cos Bradford are so average and desperate that they could afford to give him games to get his fitness up to speed .. When we gave him games he was so rank it was untrue... We couldn't just continue to pick him whatever his form... But no.. In E4 world its the merlin like powers of Phil Parkinson which has transformed Stead.. Powers which of course robins and Powell don't have ... Jesus Good luck to the lad though, if he had played for us as he has for Bradford he would have played 60 games by now and cemented his position as a town hero

quote author=" E4b" source="/post/1683661/thread" timestamp="1423553543"]Parkinson seems to know how to get the best out of him![/quote] Probably because hes now playing at his level - good league 1 player and mediocre championship player. Has the ability to show real quality at times, but never did it enough and rightly allowed to leave.........bit like most if not all of the others who departed in Jan!!!! Time to move on!

Whole Stead thing is getting boring now. He's doing well because he's at a level he's confident with and able to achieve in. We'd regret bringing him back up the Championship.

Can we recall him from his loan and tell Sadford if they want their wonder-man back for the rest of the season they can use the cup run money to pay his full wages.

He looks like the player we thought we'd signed now he's playing for Bradford, looks so much sharper and fitter, he's looked finished when he's played for us recently and apparently looked the same playing for Oldham on loan. Not sure what's caused the transformation but I think its more to do with his mind/body than it is managers, teams and leagues. Good on him anyway, long may it continue.

He didn't put one performance in for town worthy of the name.. Not one... Fair play to him.. He has been a revelation at Bradford and the form he has shown for them in the last two months would have seen him get into our team.. I am in no doubt of that.. But he wasn't good enough for us.... Why I don't know... But please don't put it down to the gaffers... I wasn't them who told him to go out and huff n puff without looking fit... Have the sharpness of a balloon and the touch of a walrus... It was stead.. He needs to take personal responsibility.... Stop using steady return to form as a rod to beat huddersfield... Deans still paying half his wages.. I'd feel duped if I was him

He is some player now. I think it is confidence and belief, we failed to give him that. Or he failled to inspire that in us.
Pity, but he's at the tail end of his career and I am really chuffed for him.
