Remember Jacko and Warnock both had similar phases of being more dominant in one half than the other. Bound to happen with a developing team and new manager trying to find their "way". I think you missed my point. :-) I was trying to emphasis your point - so really referring to the quote your were quoting!

Don't know what everyone is panicking about good pre season = shit start and bad pre season = flyer. It's always been so...

If Leeds United had lost to Rochdale and Grimbsy, you can guarantee this "friendlies are meaningless" bollocks would not be getting thrown about. Instead, they would be DATM's tip for the drop...

Hopefully defenders with better coming in! If we don't strengthen the defence before Hull I fear another thrashing is on the cards.

Another embarrassing result. Similar performances were put in this time last year. We then got 4 points from our opening 8 fixtures, flirted with relegation for the remainder of the season and conceded 75+ goals. Very worrying indeed. We were safe by February.

All this incessant moaning about defenders.... I have to say having watched the highlights, that the majority of their goals or chances stemmed from errors in our midfield. Poor positioning for the most part. They walked through it.
If you allow teams to overrun your back 4 (or 3, whatever) then there's nothing much the defence can do to stop that. You could stick Kompany and Ramos at CB, but they're no good if everyone doesn't do there job. Defending isn't just for defenders.

Very good point, just watched the goals and there were gaping holes in the midfield for some of them. Also some half-arsed defending on display which hopefully wont be a problem once the real action starts. Hopefully Lynch will have woken up in time for Hull.

There was some gaping holes in the midfield (Whitehead looked slow) but the defending for the second and fourth goals in particular was shocking.

One of the main issues in the first half was that Bunn, Lolley and Scannell didn't track back enough leaving us too light in midfield

Shambolic defending as a unit, not just the defenders themselves.

There just didn't seem to be any pressing or covering in midfield and they just strolled through the gaps to put the defence under pressure. Admittedly they didn't cope with it well!
