Scrap em trees fans saying it’s a done deal so just give it to them and if they finish second just give it them anyway they’re massive They can still win automatic promotion and I suspect they will if they win Tuesday. Yep - if Forest win on Tuesday they will be above Bournemouth on goal difference by at least 3 with Hull to play whilst Bournemouth have a much tougher game v Millwall. No way I can see Forest slipping up at Hull nor Bournemouth winning by 4 or more goals v Millwall so tomorrow’s game almost certain to decide the automatic promotion outcome.

I dont spend hundred of pounds a season following town and not want them to win, defeats dont affect me as much as when i was younger though, after losing to Peterborough in 91-92 playoffs it was ages before i got over the fact, i told myself im never going to get like that again over a football match and i haven't tbh, if we fall short in the playoffs i'll obviously be disappointed but accept it and just get on with things. Yeah - that 92 defeat v Peterborough hurt way more than any other semi-final defeat. Not sure why - maybe because we had such a good team that year but injuries and the crazy Butler situation robbed us of so much. Maybe because it was our first attempt at the play-offs.

The shirt was terrible quality, full of clicks but had the white shorts for year. Think that’s the only town kit I’ve ever had Mine was fine, from what I remember. My Barralan from 1979/80 is one of the best kits I’ve ever owned. Beautifully sewn badge and I still have the shirt even now and it is in excellent condition despite getting a lot of wear (in the days it fitted me)

An extraordinary effort in the second half of the season. Pundits go on about Forest but, after 23 games they were a point ahead of us. We’ve so far got one point more than them in the second half of the season (though have played one game more). This season ranks as the greatest achievement by a Town team in my 51 years of support given the context and background to the season.

the only issue i can see with playing luton is that the away end only holds 1000 so will be a lot of very disappointed people One of the most disappointed people will be me. I booked a mini-break some time ago, knowing that there would be no chance of us making the play-offs, from the 13th - 18th May 😡🤬

His penalty is the best I’ve seen from a Town player for some time. Absolutely cool and confident - never looked remotely like missing.

Sorry to piss on everybody’s party but was thinking last time we were 3rd in playoffs and had Jordan Rhodes in the team ……… we didn’t go up. soz. We also can’t get to exactly 81 points so we can’t win the play-offs ?🤔

I didn't give us a hope today, so for me... despite Fulham, Sheff Utd, Forest all away, that was the best result of the season. Yep - haven’t won there since 1986 (Ayresome Park) so I felt anything there was a bonus. Brilliant, calm, efficient performance and result. 18 clean sheets now. Three points needed to be mathematically certain of play offs.

Think Warnock/Wilder bombed him out based on attitude, but he’s looked handy when I’ve seen him play. I heard that. Bad apple to such a point that even though he was great and they could’ve taken him back in January they chose not to Also well behind the other 2 (Carvalho and Johnson) in terms of ability.

Playoffs?

At the start of the season, the playoffs would have been laughed at. Even halfway through in December I expected us to finish mid table which, given how crap we've been the last 3 years, I would have welcomed. But now, seen as we've spent most of the season in and around the playoffs, with 6 games left, finishing below 6th would be a disappointment. One good thing about this year is I think we could beat anyone we might get if we turn up. Where as in the 16/17 year, if we had got Fulham we'd have been battered. Agreed we've done really well whatever happens. As for the playoffs I've thought for a good while now that Forest are the second best team in this league. Purely based on the games played against us, Bournemouth have been miles better than Forest. We’ve had 3 pretty competitive games v Forest and 2 schoolings from Bournemouth.

After missing last night's match due to working , I'm well up for Friday's late kick off . An extra two hours drinking should make it a good atmosphere . Let's make it a double bubble for Westie.. If there is one thing I cannot do, is drink copious amounts of ale before a match... after, yes, before, no. I want to concentrate on the game and savour every minute sober. I'll often rerun plays and incidents in my head after the game. I might have a few beers later though. Totally agree … and my bladder ain’t what it used to be 😬

Not sure how they’ve put this run together. Just a few weeks ago we played them off the park at the City ground and should have been out off sight but they snatched a 95th minute equaliser Doesn’t seem that long back they were looking over their shoulders at the bottom three Gotta love the Championship ! Yep - you did remarkably well not to win a game that you dominated for long periods. Yep - the Championship is my favourite division across the whole of European football.

Having looked through previous seasons 75/76 points is the roughly average to get 6th spot meaning we need 30 points from the last 17 games to edge into the playoffs. I've listed the fixtures below and results i think are realistic. Must admit added into yesterday's signing a lot more hope than I anticipated. Derby Home - Win 3 Points Confirmed Preston Away - Draw 4 Points Sheff U Home - Draw 5 Points Fulham Away - Loss Cardiff Home - Win 8 Points Birmingham Away - Win 11 Points Peterborough Home - Win 14 Points West Brom away - Draw/Loss (depends on who's in charge) Millwall away - Draw 15 Points Bournemouth Home - Loss Hull Away - Win 18 Points Luton Home - Win 21 Points QPR Home - Draw 22 Points Boro Away - Loss Barnsley Home - Win 25 Points Coventry Away - Draw 26 Points Bristol City Home - Win 29 Points Some of those I have marked as losses could easily be a draw or who knows 3 points and vice versa but on the whole not ridiculous i dont think? If you haven’t changed this post since you posted it, then I’m happy to give you the name Nostradamus- brilliant effort at predictions so far.

Nottingham wednesday you mean?! The twats are all over us on Twitter again #rentfreeintheirheads They wouldn’t bother about us if we weren’t a real threat - take it as a compliment 😀

We had more shots, more on target and two goals and yet they had a higher xg than us! How does that work!? Penalty gets 0.77 xG Their next best chance was 0.07 - we had 4 chances better than that.

Bookies make Sheff U and Forest 7/2 to get promoted, Town come in at 7/1, might have a dabble on that. What about Boro - my money would be on them. They’ve got a manager who knows what success looks like.

I think that what the game clearly showed was just how dependent we are on Ward. Our whole style, the fluidity, movement and the way players are brought into the game Seem very much reduced without him.

100% no for me. Don’t ever want it but unfortunately it’s here to stay in the PL at least. A passion killer. 100% agree. Absolutely destroys the game - it’s ok for refs to get things wrong and fans get to enjoy fuming about it for a day, month, years etc. I despise VAR.

Too frustrated by the random unfairness of football last night to post.....more measured this morning! Live in Wolverhampton so travelled back on the tram with WBA fans....incredible how many felt they had played alright and certainly they'd played worse this season. If that's right they must have put out some terrible performances - they had pretty much zero idea how to play us or goal threat until the penalty. About 88 minutes of a great away performance - such a shame that they somehow managed to cash in on the 2 or 3 minutes we lost our heads. But doesnt cloud the performance...again a real measure of how far we've come this season. There was a clear plan, executed well, great movement to create options for the man on the ball and confidence to have time on the ball and wait the right option. Ward showing he's a real centre forward - hold up play, driving forward, good distribution and a threat. I did have a nagging feeling we sometimes slightly overdid it in some areas at the back but only a minor niggle. Thought the game passed Russell by sometimes and Toffolo still worries me a little that he chooses the wrong ball. Nicholls actually the least obviously amazing performance for quite a while although nothing he could do about the goals. Turton showed yet again how much he has grown into the team. O'Brien immense bar a few silly fancy flicks in the wrong areas. He really HAS to be playing Premier league next season for his own development - hope its with us. The driving with the ball is unstoppable at time - despite it seeming to be obvious what he's going to do they couldn't stop him. I'd love second but it's unlikely - in that context the performance was still right up there if not quite the result. Play like that for the rest of the season and play offs more than acheivable. WBA just got lucky by scoring twice in the 3 minutes they dominated. Glad you mentioned Turton - I forgot to. His performance last night was close to a perfect performance from a full-back. Error free, great distance on all his clearing headers (I watched him practising them half an hour before kick-off). Positioning and defending exceptional. Our man of the match.

We needed a win tonight because the Millwall game will be our toughest game we have left and we have some very tough games left. I agree that Millwall will be tough but Boro away will be way harder.

Just got back. Was in WBA end so had great view of penalty. Really poor decision and ref was well positioned. I’m generally not critical of refs but the guy tonight didn’t inspire confidence - not that he was biased but he didn’t really seem to know what was a foul and what wasn’t or what merited a booking and what didn’t. I must admit that on 80 minutes I was thinking just how incredibly comfortable it all felt. They were hopeless and their fans were turning on them. However, although it is disappointing … BBC site said we’d been mugged… that doesn’t take too much away from what I felt was a generally assured and composed performance. My Baggies supporting mate who was at the match with me felt we looked like we knew what we were doing whereas West Brom looked totally lacking in structure and cohesion. Plenty of credit to the coaching team. Unlucky not to win tonight.

So one of there fans thinks the wheels came off for us on Monday 🤔 clearly didn’t notice the 6 changes and weakened team, lol, jeez I hope we spank them and make them realise they have no chance of making the playoffs. Although TBF, only Blackman & Sarr - maybe Ruffels - would raise eyebrows if selected in a league game. And one of those changes was for LoB who was injured. It's not like we sent the kids out. Monday night's was a fairly strong side. No O’Brien No Russell No composure or control in midfield Makes a massive difference

No complaints from me - they had a good goal disallowed but it was never a free-kick for their second goal. Carlos clearly picked the team with league as number one priority - personally I’d have preferred a 6th round cup tie but no problem with his decision in that regard. Thought the score line was fair, the ref was good and didn’t respond to some ridiculous stuff from crowd and Forest players regarding Pearson.

How long is it since we were live on an ITV channel? Must be donkeys yrs? Hypotenuse will be along soon. I’m here - I think it may be in the 5th round v Wigan (lost 1-4) in February 2013.

Love the optimism of Town fans seriously looking at Bournemouth run-in and even considering an automatic playoff!! Keep on deaming guys, why not!! However No chance. Define what you mean by no chance. I'd suggest you're using that phrase contrary to any dictionary definition of the phrase.... ...or I'll be happy to wager at "no chance" odds. ...Up to you .....talking sh*8te ......(again)..... or you'll justify your comment..... It’s a phrase used in the same way as when you buy a Euromillions lottery ticket. You don’t really have a chance of winning but technically it isn’t zero. 😉

The Bournemouth Twitter thing is also terrible use of language.
“I’d be surprised if Huddersfield stayed where they are, let alone make the play offs”
Presumably he meant “I’d be surprised if I could write the next multi-million pound best seller, let alone construct a sensible sentence in my first language”

Been thinking, how many goals have we scored from outside the box this season, apart from Sinanis against Peterborough. Surely some stato knows, I will go for 3 at a guess. You are a little way off, drewden. It is 10 league goals from outside the box - I believe this to be a staggeringly high proportion (over 20%) but don’t have data from other clubs. Chronologically: Koroma at Blackpool Hogg at Blackpool Vallejo v Blackburn Holmes v Hull Ward v Coventry Sinani at Reading Ward at Reading Koroma v Stoke Holmes v Derby Sinani v Peterborough

I think the point on squad depth is fair The 2022 second eleven would beat the 2017 IMO 2017 (team that played Man City in the FA Cup) Coleman Crainie THD Hudson Stankovic Whitehead Billing Bunn Payne Lolley Quaner 2022 - based on players not in the starting 11 on Friday Blackman Pipa Ruffels Sarr Colwill Hogg Vallejo Eiting Koroma Anjorin Rhodes With Campbell, high, aarons, Rowe and the players on loan like REG for further depth That would be the 2017 second eleven who held Man City in the Cup that folk think aren’t as strong as our current second eleven - wow!
