You've got a nerve coming anywhere near a Billing thread. "Never make a player" "will end up at Bury" . .... transferred for around 15m to a premier league club.. highest ever transfer fee from town .. so obviously you're going to hold your hands up and accept that maybe your judgement wasn't 100% correct? HELL NO . Why do that when you can loiter about on here denigrating the kid further, in order to divert attention from the fact that yet again you've made a bit of a tit of yourself

I’ve achieved plenty in my time, more than I ever imagined. I think you’re missing my point but I will assume your IQ is less than that of the average Love Island viewer. 😜. Never leave an employer on the wrong terms and believe you could go back is a good trait to have. He or is agent didn’t do too well here, Same as Nahki Wells but they will of course be much wealthier. He didn’t have to leave on the terms he did, unprofessional, in my opinion. What have you achieved in order to question mine? Good for you. But I didn't question someone's achievement in their chosen profession based on the ground capacity of the club they choose to play for. Is that not the same as saying that a nurse at HRI has achieved less than one who works at LGI ? Your original point didn't question whether he was wise to fall out with the club, only belittled his ambition for choosing to go a club with small crowds even though they are an established Premier league club. I’m not questioning, merely stating “Bournemouth!” Really? Established PL side or not, I bet when all this stared he didn’t dream of a move to Bournemouth. If he’d conducted himself in a proper manner then who knows but you can imagine that it put off some of the bigger clubs. I’d probably say that a surgeon working at St James”s or Christie’s has achieved more than someone working at HRI, there is alway a hierarchy in terms of where you ply your trade. Good employees generally get recognised and rewarded / promoted or leave for better positions, which is essentially what PB has done in going to an established PL side but back to my point, I bet he didn’t dream of that move.

If gossip and rumour are to be believed he "downed tools" which as a town fan I find utterly despicable. I think we have got good money for him in the circumstances . I agree if he had carried on the form of sept oct nov of last year he would have gone to a bigger club for bigger money so more fool him . BUT he has proved he can cut it in the premier league, he has made us more money than any youth product we have ever had . Why can't people be happy and move on ? The levels of vitriol are ridiculous

No it’s not. What does anyone know here about Schalke other than what you can glean at face value. The actual truth about their budget, their squad, their needs etc, you have no idea. For all you know he did come in and got rejected. For all you know he has a contractual restriction from his compromise with the club. The fact is that you and the maker of the ‘salient point’ don’t know. This is confirmation bias at work. Does the fact that Wagner hasn’t signed anyone from Town mean that every player here is shit / bad attitude / whatever else negative that is on your mind? Also good points. I accept the bias...still no link from anyone of note to Billing though was there? Wagner was not his biggest fan...that was clear. Dont managers return to their old clubs to steal the better players regularly? Schalke have made signings but no approaches at Huddersfield. It was an ideal situation...wantaway top player available cheap and soon. As you say there could be a dozen reasons why Schalke have not shown interest...i think it is because Wagner knows he is a waste of space...how is that for bias? Biased.....but honest

Good luck to Phil.
Before last season started I’d predicted that it would be Phil’s breakthrough season. Soon after we had shown some impressive early performances, although a bit unlucky not to get more points, we dominated Wolves in the midfield which I thought was going to be our springboard into the season.
How wrong could I be.
Phil’s early form was impressive alongside Mooy and Hogg, there was no doubt about it. However when Mooy got injured, we needed Phil to step up another notch which never materialised. If we were to survive, Phil had to be the man, but never did. Is he capable of being the main midfielder? I believe he is but he doesn’t have that experience and maturity just yet. Phil has a long way to go, which I don’t think Phil realises just yet and hopefully for Phil’s sake, Howe can get him to mature.
His immaturity has been shown publicly by his comments about the gaffer. Privately it is obvious by his benching by JS. His attitude is a sign of his maturity and I hope for Phil’s sake he wakes up to himself because he could go onto being a very accomplished PL midfielder. If he doesn’t, he’ll just be another who wastes his talent by thinking he’s to good to listen.
His attitude cost Town a good £5-10m after they have given him everything.

The point I was making is the size of the ground ( hospital car park) doesnt equate to professional ambition/achievement which is what your original post was doing. Hence my reference to Bradford.

But was a bit of a know head in the way he did it.

Good riddance what a pain he became and the arrogant lad ends up at B, mouth for money. He downed tools and still got paid unforgivable. I've worked with loads of useless bastards over the yrs that were/are robbing a wage. Only difference here is the sums of money involved & that a player who decides to leave our club on bad terms gets a roasting from the supporters... I await the next useless bastard, target for the fans to vent their spleens about - I can guarantee you they'll be in the current squad already...

Are you a secret Billing lover ? If we're being honest with ourselves, our stadium has been a morgue for the majority of the seasons we've played in it, save for the last 3 full house seasons and the occasional big game/play-off game. The one thing that has changed it IMHO, is the South Stand group who campaigned for a proper home end a la the Cowshed.

No doubt there will be some "clever" response to prove I'm wrong but if you're in a hole stop digging would seem to be relevant advice in this case and as for what has he ever done ? Well, played and scored in the Championship and PL, represented his country at u21 level, won his clubs Goal of the Season, two years running, won his clubs Players Player of the Season and secured a record fee received transfer to another PL side. Not too bad, just a shame he left under a cloud, having pissed a lot of Town fans off and left for a lot less than he should have because of his attitude over the last 6 months.

As you say there could be a dozen reasons why Schalke have not shown interest...i think it is because Wagner knows he is a waste of space...how is that for bias? Managers are less and less likely to poach players they’ve worked with...it’s the kind of thing that used to happen through managers like Redknapp and Warnock who have financial reasons for repeatedly signing someone like Paddy Kenny. Modern managers and coaches are more likely to work with what they’ve got, and do COACHING. Schalke have only signed defenders and a couple of wingers...and they’ve got about six first team Centre mid players, all of who are contracted to 2022 as a minimum...they’re hardly likely to bring MORE players in to that position when they’re full of internationals that he’ll have to juggle already. In what way was it clear Wagner wasn’t Billings biggest fan?! He regularly gushed about him...this in November >>> “I cannot name you one 22-year-old player who is comparable with him. He is 6' 6", left-footed, with an unbelievable shot; quick vision; technique; long throw-in; endurance and now, fighting spirit as well.
"I can't name you a player [like him] but obviously I am not a scout, maybe some scouts are able to do it!
"Phil has added to his game this season. Since pre-season started, he has the mindset for defending and aggression and that it is enjoyable to defend.
"He has added intensity and aggression into his game. Everything else he had before.
"When I speak with him he is so hungry and so greedy to continue this and even in training he looks very good, day in, day out."source: www.skysports.com/football/news/11740/11567085/david-wagner-says-huddersfield-town-midfielder-philip-billing-is-incomparable-for-his-age

Good luck to the lad. May work out, may become very good, then again he could flop. We got £15m for a player cast into the kids team, never going to play again, which is good business. No matter what was said, clear he wanted to be a Premier League player, but there are ways of doing it without giving interviews about your management etc. Wish him well and hope he hits the heights as it will look good for our club going forward for potential young talent we may want to purchase in the future. Hope he gets on the international 1st team stage and progresses, like I say, it will reflect well on the club at producing talent and will enhance the possibility of young loan players or purchasing ones abroad etc.

Well said. Clearly success in tockyterriers world is measured only in pound notes. And success in Johnny's world is how many people are watching you do it. Whilst in equating it to plying his trade at the highest level. So what's your point exactly? Feel for you bud, good luck in life you will need it.

But a premier league club never came along and offered £15m for Des. Perhaps clubs don’t buy players on the strength of a 2 min YouTube clip? Weren’t Newcastle in the Premier League when they signed Des Hamilton? Didn’t Fergie buy Bebe after watching a YouTube video of him? Yes they were, they paid £2m for him I believe? Fergie bought Bebe on the strength of a recomendation from his asst. Carlos Queiroz

Exorbitant transfer fee which will offset the loss we made in player value when we gave Joe Lolley to Forest.

Glad he has gone. Talent there but does not apply himself well far too often. He may do well, he may not, hope we have a good sell on cause just in case but it could really go either way. If someone upsets him and he goes into another sulk he will go nowhere.

I hope he becomes a top premier league player if only to choke some of these posters who castigate him just as many do when a player leaves Town. He came as a very young player. How many of them would move at his age to foreign country.
