I'm guessing Wagner et al weren't cheap, Wagner quoted as £100k per week and it wouldn't surprise me. That's another £5M at least on the wage bill unless its included in those figures already. Plus we have the enabling works for the PL, a fair few quid there I guess. I guess we'll end up writing off about £20M this season due to transfer business. I expect the club to lose money on Diakbenza, Sobhi, Flo and Mounie. None of those 5 are now worth anywhere near what we paid. Add Pritchard into those losses. Although they might all be covered by selling Billing. Pritchard is still worth what we paid imo.

Would be disappointed to lose Pritchard. A proven high end Championship player

That is very sad positive but there’s no getting away from the fact this season has seen us fail on many fronts and a lot are extremely disappointed at what could be viewed as a missed or lost opportunity. I think in this instance at least, art is spot on with his assessment. There are no hysterics in what he has put, just a cold, hard summing up of how he and many others feel. Let’s hope we can go on and get something from today, and then watch Norwich beat leeds. UTT im sure we will give it a go and yes a Norwich win would shut rl up a bit

Might have a chance? Have you seen the quality of the upper end if he championship? As much as it pains me to say it only Leeds have impressed. Derby etc etc just run about and turn over possession. It’s really not that good. Vastly below premier. A chasm.

This thread is now becoming "let's find a scapegoat and hang them out to dry". 1 We don't have the true detail of what has gone on 2 We can all agree the club, collectively, made some poor recruitment decisions 3 It's happened, we are where we are and we can't change anything more now until summer Lessons must be learned and acted upon if we are to keep moving forward. My overall feeling is that we were so near to being at this level for at least another season, and DH potentially having a more saleable asset, and now we are not sure what is going to happen. It's very frustrating and after decades in the backwaters, really disappointing. I don't see any point in blaming individuals, I'm sure the people who can influence know what has happened. If they don't, then we do have a problem. It feels a little more than disappointing to me, it's actually quite maddening and annoying if I'm honest on my feelings about it. Think you hit the nail on the head there saying we've been in the backwaters for so long and now we're back we've made a right hash of it. I don't want to start pointing the finger but it just smacks of typical Town to me, trying to do it in the cheap and if there is a way to mess something up, no matter how hard, we find it. Again, if I'm truly honest, I'm incredulous at how we've cocked this season up, I really am. I just hope we can have a clear out in the summer, Seiwert is given some money and we can come straight back up and give it another crack. Move away from this tinpot view and attitude we have of ourselves. Tinpot view? You mean factual! We are small fish at this level........we missed the boat c20 yrs ago and every year that passes makes it tougher. We lost a generation of fans when we sold Stewart and they don’t have the same desire to return....even in the prem. Leeds, villa, Sunderland, Norwich, wed, Derby to name but 6 can all get regular top flight crowds more than 50% bigger than ours........that is a huge advantage not necessarily in ticket revenue but in sponsorship money, merchandising, overseas interest etc. Yes we have recruited badly, and some of our players have been abject this season, but you make it out the job was straightforward......it’s clearly not. The 3 teams likely to come down include 2 of those promoted last term........the likes of Bournemouth, Watford, palace, have huge backers which we don’t. Football isn’t all about money but when you have no strikers performing and can’t attract more than a promising young lad from lower down it’s not a recipe for massive success is it? I’m disappointed and a bit disillusioned with the game tbh cos no doubt about it our league is fast resembling those abroad where 4 or 5 teams completely dominate. Not as bad as France and Germany just yet but getting there.

Pretty sure Hogg would have been sent off today. No way would Hazard have danced away from him all afternoon.
And for the love of god, get Diakhaby on the left where he can use his pace productively rather than cutting in all the time!

Would be disappointed to lose Pritchard. A proven high end Championship player But does nothing in the Premier League? Not sure what your point is? Are you saying 1. I’m understating his contribution for us? Or 2. That we have needed Premier League players If 1. I think he’s worked hard but been a bit lightweight If 2. The horrific recruitment has been done to death Either way we’re heading toward the Championship and need players to get us competing again

As long as the supporters stay with the club...

As for Diakhaby, said that last week and first half, for the love of god put him on the left wing.

Our whole recruitment department over the last 18 months deserve to be sacked. We are 10 games away from setting another club record for games without a win and at the moment that seems very possible.
I would also be looking to get rid of Winter as he has being in charge while Deano has not being around (for very valid reasons) and has shown the club couldn't cope without him. At the moment with the squad getting so used to losing we could be looking at back to back relegation once again

Neither seem to have done badly without him!

As long as the supporters stay with the club... I watched the PNE v Derby game too - it was end to end. Wilson hitting the woodwork twice for Derby - once with his right foot once with his left, a player who is prepared to shoot, something we have been lacking all season. The the second half belonged to PNE - how they didn't score I will never know. The thing was it was a really enjoyable game - I've sort of missed that even competitive game when either side is capable of winning. We might do okay next season, whatever, I'm looking forward to it none the less - I might just have given up on this season!! That said I'm still looking forward to our next game!

The lad had a decent game but you are right, he absolutely refuses to kick the ball with his right foot. He did start on the left I believe, but with the injury to Mbenza he was shifted across.

I honestly can't understand why people aren't more fucked off? We've thrown away the golden ticket with little effort, and we'll never see these times again, yet no one seems particularly arsed. Just loads of cap-doffing and it was nice while it lasted. Bizarre defeatist attitude. I'm fuming every week.

We've missed the obvious goalscorer, but we've had a difficult season with some rotten luck, injuries that killed our ability to play a settled side etc. Not hiding the fact we shouldn't be down near the foot of the table, but it's clearly one of those seasons that thankfully only come along every few yrs. Just that we're suffering it on the big stage, in the full glare of the spotlight... I'm not being defeatist, happy clapper, I'm pissed off but trying to look at some context.

A season like this 10 years ago would have ruined my weekend completely, but the older I've got, I've lost some of the fervour. It still disappoints, but the way I see it, losing to the Chelsea's of this world, for a team of our stature, is de rigeur.

We spent money but on the wrong players and were down by January If people want to delude that throwing £40m in January would save us then so be it. Personally I think it would cripple us and made a Pompey style collapse possible I’m not enjoying this season but I see it as a step back - we regroup in the summer and try again In the meantime let’s see what some the young fringe players have got before deciding to keep or replace in the summer

If we continue plodding along and getting beat each week then you can't just suddenly start winning.
