I’ve just starting coaching the development team winning 4-0 vs Hull today and what a result for the firsts. Some real talent in Town’s women’s team. Quality would surprise a lot

Hats off to Kate Mallin who put Huddersfield Ladies ahead against West Ham Women in the FA Cup. The rest of the team can hang their heads in shame though after getting hammered 8-1 !!! West Ham having as many as 6 players queuing up to score goals, one even getting a hattrick shortly before the end. Ouch....

You realise West Ham are in the WSL, the equivalent of a League One side playing a PL side. Town were the lowest ranked team left in the competition, the only National League side to get this far. They've done themselves proud.

So if a player scores a penalty just over 10 minutes in to a match they are immune from any criticism in the game? That's not even the dumbest thing you've said. You know the gulf between the 2 sides? They did well to get as far as they did, the furthest they've ever been and they came up against a team of internationals. What's so embarrassing about an international player scoring a hat-trick?

Women's football receiving boost: www.bbc.com/sport/football/47605807At first glance, 10 m seems a lot for a sponsorship deal over 3 years, but on reflection, is it really? Anybody know the figures involved for Sky's sponsorship deal with the EFL over 5 years done in 2017, just for an initial comparison?

I turned this off at the point the presenter said they wouldn't employ a League 2 footballer to be in the studio to comment on a Premier League game as he'd never played at that level, but it was ok for the woman GK to comment because she had played at the elite level. I'm sorry but any League 2 team, even Bradford City, would annihilate the England women's team, which makes his point ridiculous.

Both FA Cup semis are free-to-air on the BBC today.
Reading vs West Ham United (who beat Town 8-1 in the fifth round) is on now on the red button. Man City vs Chelsea is a 3.30 kick off on BBC One.

Don't know if you watched the whole of the match Impact but I did, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite refreshing really. Because there's not the pace and power of the men's game there's a lot more good football and passing - some nice one-touch football. It was nowhere near one of the better women's matches this season but was a lot more entertaining than much of the sterile, spoiling stuff I've seen this season in the Premiership. Little play-acting, little diving, little feigning injury, but two teams trying to play football and win a match rather than not lose one.

If that is meant as a slight on womens football, just remember we scored an OG from the halfway line this season.

It'll never be on a par & don't think the powers that be, ever expect it to be. However, it is growing in stature, the technique and skills are there, just the pace and physicality of the game isn't quite there & it will always struggle to get there for obvious reasons. If they had a few more rough & tumbles like the video below then it might beef up the image. I might be right in saying that in the US Womens football is much bigger than in Europe, not really sure why, other than that there are probably less top tier sports for Women to partake in over there, so it grew from grassroots...
The media coverage doesn't particularly bother me, you can always switch off. But one thing that does irk for some I expect, is that under normal circumstances this would be classed as a minority sport in the UK, given the attendances it gets; and coverage/funding of it massively surpasses that of other minority sports. Without the money of their parent clubs playing in the PL, a lot of these clubs would still be struggling. Let's hope that their cheating ways don't infiltrate the Womens game though...

Said it before will say it again... "A woman will play for the first team in football within the next 10 years". The way he got physically dominated, maybe Flo has already managed it? In reality,. no it won;t happen., ever. And neither should it. Take the most physically strong female player now and put them in the professional mens game and whilst her technique might be good enough, she would be completely bullied out of it if the opposition played against her in the same way they would a man. Which of course most wouldn;t be inclined to do. Womens football is good ( apart from the goalkeeping ). Its growing and thats a great thing all round. The amount of media coverage of it compared to the actual interest in it is totally off the scale though.
