Why do think you have a right to know what goes on in a privately owned business? I know why you THINK you have a right but unless you have a financial stakeholding in Town or any other business I'm afraid you have no rights, other than those that are legally in force. Football Clubs are not like other Businesses. If you can't see that I can't make you see it. I've just paid £250 for a season ticket to help them survive. No other reason. I haven't done this for Wetherspoons, Cineworld, Easy jet. Have you? It's not about 'rights' it's about the Club retaining a customer loyalty no other business has - again if you can't see that I can't make you. I consider myself one of the more supportive supporters on here. So continue to bury your Head in the sand if you think people will put up with being treated like mushrooms for ever. People like me might be dispensable when the Club is thriving, but we're the ones they come to first with their begging bowls, lotteries, etc when they're strapped for cash. I certainly haven't forked out £250 for a product that I have no chance of receiving in the form I want to. £250 is a lot of money and I choose very carefully where I invest or spend it. Like you I don't intend to personally and charitably support blue chip companies however I am very happy to support the small local business that are struggling to survive and their employees often on minimum wages.

People like me might be dispensable when the Club is thriving, but we're the ones they come to first with their begging bowls, lotteries, etc when they're strapped for cash. Another point to your argument, I enrolled as a member at the then ICI Zeneca Club well over 30 years ago, for a few pounds a year it gave me a parking spot not too far from the ground ( I drive down Leeds Road from John Cotton / 3 Nuns end, and a chance to meet up with mates for a few drinks, a bite to eat, few games of snooker, watch the early kick off on telly and have a natter about football and Town in particular. I was genuinely gutted when that was taken from me, had it been any other business that had been involved I would have fought against it but because it was MY football club doing it and benefiting from doing so I accepted it. In the beginning the change was very much for the better, the facilities improved, certainly the catering and numbers attending soared, mainly to listen to Tog interview Dean and former Town players, then we had the PL years with the £100 a year to park followed by the “Fans no longer allowed” - I was going to put “Sorry, no fans” but to be honest it doesn’t fit. I’m sure there’ll be some comments to follow this similar to what we’ve already had, “What right have you got, it’s a business, you’re only a customer” etc etc but on a Town fans forum if that’s what you truly believe in a case like Canalside then I actually feel sorry for you, if you can’t see the problem and that a club that for years has promoted itself as a family, community and caring club is now behaving like a faceless, corporate entity then what hope have we. I have an historic connection with the old ICI recreation club, later Canalside. My dad was secretary of the horticultural society at ICI and they used to hold their shows in the Rec club. According to my mum I took my first ever steps as a baby on the old bowling green at the front!

The old ICI club was a brilliant place and i went to many a semi final/final there along with the odd wedding reception. 30/40/50 yrs a go all the big firms had social clubs but the ICI was the best by far and when it turned in to the Canalside, being a member you felt we had something special also the parking spot was brilliant. What do we have now for the fan's, zilch, fan's need somewhere for fan's to go it make's you feel part of the club. A well run social club for the fan's is a must in my eyes, so many good boozers have gone never to be replaced.

The unfortunate thing is, how profitable do you think a place like that would be, based on it being halfway-decently utilised 23 days out of 365?

Looks like the video update on the changes at Canalside will be out later this week and if you read the comments, there may be the same about the shirt sponsor as well..

Is canalside's days of being 'the fans must go to place ' ended now ?
I seem to recall the early days when the club wanted to encourage fans to call in before and after games, watch sky tv, have some food etc etc... I was in favour of the initiative tbh, although the 'wrong side' of Town for me. A fans bar though, near the ground , is still the ideal scenario i think. HDOne (remember that) had a pub or two for home fans to congregate. Remember (many years ago) going to watch Town at Oxford, at their new stadium with adjoining retail complex..where there was a big bar area, away fans welcome, sky tv, food and I thought that was just what Town need...otherwise it remains the Slubbers and pie and peas...

The new moto instead of Hd One is, Do One as far as the fans are concerned down at Canalside.

Canalside was great. Whilst also being a bit shit. A real reflection of the Club as a whole. For a drinking establishment the beer was shite. Embarrassing. The food was good value and nice. Get in for noon, home game, pie and chips, shit lager (which is marginally better than shit ale), lunchtime game, wander to the game at half two. Was decent to take the lad for lunch during the school hols too, almost guaranteed to see a player. Make his day. Was sat there munching away when Alan Alan Lee was talking to DH about Jedinak (sp?) threatening legal action over an elbow. Saw that wrestler chap from Norwich in there before he'd been announced too.
Sums the Club up to me since the promotion season. Lost it's way big style and become all big bollocks, without actually backing it up with anything. Fans meant fuck all. Long standing ones anyway. Chase the new ones with a shit badge and new corporate areas. The bar next to the ground HD whatever, Legends, can fuck off for me. Try getting folk to pay to go in there now. Covid excepted of course.

So, aside from current Covid related restrictions, how many professional clubs at Championship level or above have training facilities where joe public can just wander about?

So, aside from current Covid related restrictions, how many professional clubs at Championship level or above have training facilities where joe public can just wander about? Not many who bought a local Rec club, allowed members and guests to come in..then slowly removed bowling greens, snooker tables and eventually any fans or former members/employees of ICI. I totally get the privacy at training, but the route Town have taken to this has been ...dishonest ?

If you bought a cafe, would you expect to keep serving breakfasts and pie & chips to those who had come to admire your massive train set? Nothing dishonest about it - it's evolution.

Is today the day we finally get to see what they've done with the training ground then? 29th July >> 19th September >> 23rd September >> Mark Devlin responded by assuring those present that the training facilities are excellent. He did, however, recognise that the club’s communications have not been as clear as they could have been. David Threlfall-Sykes said that the club will release further information once the current phase of redevelopment is complete, which is expected to be a matter of weeks.
21st of October >> 27th October >> Today is "Thursday".

Come on Town!
How many angles do you need to shoot the new disabled parking space from to make it look we’ve made serious improvements?!?

I’ve already had a tour of that garage at the entrance. Mbenza had four of his 80k cars in it and he was filming something for Instagram with his knob head rapper mate.
