Town looked like a top 10 team in my opinion where as Blackpool may struggle . I no its difficult to judge with it being pre season but you looked alot fitter and brighter than Blackpool . Will certainly be looking out for your results every week n I'd like to hope it could be a regular pre season fixture between the too sides for the foreseeable future Nice one, cheers Phil 😉

Out Campbell - Covid Edmonds-Green - Covid Koroma - Isolate Brown - Isolate Critchlow - Isolate And a few have knocks… Pipa - still injured? Rowe - still injured? Grant - Injured? Aarons - Ever fit? Bacuna - international Mbenza - cba? Injured? Sold? I’ll give us something - we’re nothing but consistent Still injured - bit more to the groin injury than first thought so is in London getting further checks; will be ready for start of the season though. So still got injuries... will it ever end. The championship is one of the most competitive and tough leagues in world football and we need really hard guys to see us through what’ll be a hugely gruelling season. Our lot seem to be as feeble as feathers, always, always injured. The Covid cases and isolating players is a lottery and many teams could suffer from that, but the injuries are becoming baffling now. I’d like to think to start the season we’d have a full squad to pick from and take it from there, but one of these days we are gonna run out of luck and these injuries will see HTAFC in League 1. Get players please Town, that are made of brick and not butter !

Very good link up play all over the pitch. Colwill looks excellent. Pearson very solid. Thomas had a great game as well. Nicholls very positive. Need the final ball a bit better but that will come. Very enjoyable game. Exactly how I saw the game. Pearson and Colwill should be our CB’s in a back 4, both were very impressive. DH had a good game but I wouldn’t rely on him playing the Eiting role and would want another AM who’s better. Link up play was good considering the pitch was slow. Of the youngsters, Daly very much needs a loan at a lower level. Diarra had a lively cameo that would warrant further playing time. Jackson and High were solid.

Holmes should never play on the wing ever again. Different player down the middle. I think quite a few Derby fans said similar.

Is this the same groin injury he’s had on and off since I think Feb?

When will we see any evidence of Carlos & co being able to develop young players like we previously saw with O’Brien who let’s not forget had started 2 games for us before Cowley came in Edmonds green MOTM Dec-19 Daly winner Dec-19 Rowe debut premier league Carlos & co haven’t shown ability to develop these players enough, nor has the guts to give them a consistent run - reverting to type and choosing continued repeated failures Given that agree there’s no point Daly being here whilst Carlos remains in charge - let’s get him on a league 1 loan for 6 months

Having now had a day to reflect on yesterday’s performance, albeit against lower league team, my brief thoughts...
Lee Nicholls was very assured in his 45 minutes, took and came for balls in the air when needed, was very vocal, comfortable with the ball at his feet and pulled off a worldly diving to his left to tip a ball round the post. All in all I feel quite positive about our goalkeeping position going into the new season as I’m sure he is our starting number 1.
Sorba Thomas for me was excellent. His turn of pace is frightening and he really went at the opposition. He created quite a few chances with his driving forward runs. A constant worry for Southport. If he can make the step up against Championship defenders he is going to be our breakout player this season. Pity he couldn’t top yesterday’s performance with a goal.
Duane Holmes, As people have already said, had a good game in the middle of the park, finding himself in lots of space to make things happen and scored a very good second half goal.
Defence on the whole was solid and were never really put in any trouble; Colwill was assured as was Pearson.
Forwards huffed and puffed but didn’t really get much. Danny Ward was a little frustrating as nothing seemed to come off for him and Jordan Rhodes was the same, lots of running about and chasing down but nothing of note apart from an attempt at an overhead shot.
We looked quite fit on the whole with lots of closing down, tracking back and industriousness, Lewis O’Brien in particular showing some bite.
All in all, a very pleasant afternoon watching a live football game in the sunshine with some very positive signs of progress, that, with a couple more signings and the injuries stay in abeyance, we could be in for a season where we keep our fingernails for once as we stay out of the bottom half.
Early days I know, but I’d rather look at this season with a glass half full outlook than half empty... 🤞
Oh and another thing - ‘Fat Phil’ our Chairman, whom some on here like to label him, cannot be called that any longer. Obviously been on a diet these last few months and is looking much leaner and trimmer.

I think being up against non league defenders probably helped to make him look a bit faster

Wonder how many Fleetwood tickets we've sold?
A few may be considering an overnight stay I'd guess
