This thread is absolutely ridiculous. We’ve had one of the worst records in the football league for what, 4 years now? Our fans turn up and support the team regardless of league position and produce some great atmospheres at times, yes we need to have a bit of incentive. But if you think we are bad then you’ve never been to an away game - 90% of the time we put most other grounds to shame, be that a promotion season or the threat of a relegation season. I’m only talking about the South Stand era, the atmosphere before that was at times “embarrassing” on most occasions apart from the big games.
Come into the south stand and sing along please, those guys down the bottom don’t stop, and they were the original founders of the Cowshed Loyal. It’s not their fault if nobody else joins in, why attack them?
Again, what a ridiculous thread, and some ridiculous comments by some real miserable bastards.

Might’ve been an idea for him to have waited until he was sober before posting on here as well Or maybe he wants to attend a football match to see a football match? I’d say just let it wash over you. There’s always one cause or another going on these days and it just becomes white noise in the end. It could have been rainbow laces, remembrance week-end or Halloween yesterday. By all means keep trying to get the message out there but honestly the fact it was rainbow laces or whatever yesterday made no difference to me or anyone else around where I was. Certainly not something I’d be getting all wound up over.

It's not a case of the football encouraging the fans...the fans need to step up and drive the team...starting with the self-annointed Cowshed Loyal/South Stand...man up or give up. That reads a bit harsh on the Cowshed Loyal mids; if they hadn’t made any efforts over the last few years we’d have no atmosphere at all! Although I don’t get to games much, I would argue it’s a cyclical process - the team plays well and gets the fans backing which is turn fires the players up. The cowshed loyal spent a lot of time getting the south stand up and running. No1 can say it has'nt had an affect. They still make a fair ammount of noise, but the atmosphere is flat at the club in general, can only praise the lads for their efforts and hopefully be more to sing about soon.

It's about as good now as when Powell was in charge. This style of football is horse shit.
Insipid, dull, boring take your pick. The south stand atmosphere pretty much mirrors that. Bring back the clappes around the ground, it's been a slippy slope since they were got rid of and get a new drum, or skin the one in the SS is terribly out of tune.

I started the thread and did say the lads at the front of the South Stand are fantastic. My point was that the rest of the stand has lost it's Mojo.

Same with the 'is this quasi political marxist gesturism' of the knee taking when that was a thing. Some people including close friends really got very wound up about it. For me it was 3 seconds of my day, and a chance to have a little internal chuckle at the occasional player who 'forgot', started to charge into the other half when the whistle went and then had to sheepishly style it out.

On further reflection, one point worth making is...imagine what the (poor) atmosphere would be like now if there was no South Stand, and that handful of 20 or so who try and drive things were dotted about around the ground and anonymised?
Now that WOULD be silent.

for one of the first times yesterday i entered the ground sober ...coventry BLM kneed..a haf time lecture from slaphead about rainbow lace and the lgbmtblmbrexit cause then a dedicated grass number for people to bubble up people near them..... its like East Germany WOW your a middle aged man and for ONE of the FIRST times you entered the ground sober. Probably a common thing but it shocks me how reliant on alcohol this nation is. Although watching town regularly could make anyone want to blot their mind out with alcohol.

I'll take the ban Grim. you need to cam it down sweetcheeks the reason i attend a football game is to see a football game not a social justice rally ...a bit of escapism after a week of work see friends and family a few pints not so long ago it used to be like that.

Maybe when your 5m bid is accepted by Deano you can turn down all the noble causes that football clubs are asked to promote these days and make us as popular as Millwall and Leeds 😂

Note my offer has gone in to Phil, as the person with significant control through his ownership of Pure Sports Consultancy. It IS conditional on the whole 100% being made available though, so he will need to negotiate recovering the final 25% from Dean (as well as the debt waiver that I've asked for and removal of the charge held over the club), but that shouldn't be an issue if the long term viability of the club is held sincerely in both their hearts.

If a few Coventry players half heartedly kneeling for about 5 seconds is ruining the whole experience you have other issues. Not you btw, that prick from Birchencliffe.

I've been watching Town for 40+ years and have been a season ticket holder for most of that time. I don't know if I've been very lucky or I'm deaf and blind but I have never heard any racist chanting or seen any racist gestures. I'm as far away from being a Daily Mail reader as you can get. I've never voted Tory and read the Guardian. I do think this taking the knee phenomenon is a superficial gesture. I hate the phrase but it is unnecessary'Virtue signalling' and has really had it's day. There undoubtedly are racists out there now that social media has enabled losers to spout bile but the vast majority of football fans are decent people and taking the knee comes across as a little patronising.

But it's not the vast majority of fans that we're trying to reach with this messaging. It's the minority, small-minded types who will go onto Twitter after the match and send racist messages/pictures/icons to the very players that they were cheering onto the pitch a few hours earlier. I agree that there is a problem with virtue signalling in today's society but if players "taking the knee" can keep the anti-racism message on the table then it's doing some good.

can't see how anyone could argue. Football clubs are (or at least used to be) a vital part of the community. It makes kids days when players turn up at their schools. On the news today Allison ( Liverpool keeper) was on surprising a fan who had donated his bonemarrow to a young 15 year old which saved her life ( by the way she was a town fan), it was heartwarming but the fact Allison did it was sending a huge message to the wider pubic how important the issue is for saving life ( people putting themselves forward like this Liverpool lad did). I love football but they have a role clubs/players beyond just playing. Some you may agree with some not, but surely anybody can see unless they are very self centred selfish people they are in a position to help.

Our community face took off when we made the Premier league. It will take off big time whoever is the owner if we get there again. I suggest Newcastle in the community will become bigger than it is, even with their choice of owners and man city's community side is now absolutely huge. The community does benefit even if the owners are 'dodgy'..(don't want legal action)...

You are right but I’d argue that our profile as a club increased as soon as the charismatic David Wagner arrived. With both him and DH regularly communicating with us a bond was formed which just got stronger and stronger by the day. We have the exact opposite to this at the moment.
