What do you expect we are 3 weeks behind every other team due to the playoffs. With such a short summer break this years it’s even worse, we could not come in earlier than we did as all players needed a break / holiday after last season. Our new lads have not been involved in a friendly game you can’t expect them to just rock up and play. You are right, is down to the club to get them ready, but we apparently failed at this big time. It is the first game but we need to get fit, pass to another player on our team, press as a unit. The organisation is way off at the moment.

As usual, some people not prepared to give any credit to the opposition as being a contributing factor to our performance. Burnley are just down from the PL, have a new coach and were “at it” from minute one. You could see the hunger when they were warming up. In my opinion, we were not prepared to face a team playing with that much energy and ability to play a one touch passing game at speed. I don’t lay any blame on DS for this - first game of the season and impossible to assess the opposition beforehand. I’d prefer to concentrate on the positives. Whilst we completely failed to compete in the 1st half, it didn’t take DS long to change it in the 2nd. For a spell, we really lifted our game and this was our opportunity to equalise - which obviously didn’t happen. The highlight was surely the introduction of Tino. Wow! what an impact he made - first Town player to get me out of my seat in a long time. So, I’m not downhearted about last night - I saw enough to suggest that once we are able to set up properly we will compete at the top end . 0 - 1 was not an embarrassment and hopefully things will get better next Friday. What on Earth did you see to suggest we’d compete at the top end? Was it the horrendous lineup, horrendous energy, horrendous passing or 0 shots on target that excited you the most? After 1 game we’re on the same amount of points as Norwich City. If we perform like this next week and the week after I’ll share peoples concern.

That’s fair enough, but you’ve avoided the question Not many weeks ago the majority of these players got us to a Play Off Final. Are we to think that in just a few weeks they have all become bad players? I have complete faith that we will come good again and the patch where we went for them when Tino came on showed me that we still have that ability.

Just had the mispleasure of watching the extended highlights or lowlights should that be, Burnley cut threw us with ease, Town caught in possesion too much, Ruffles ball watching, Thomas not doing his defensive duties and the petulant kick out was rather lucky to go unnoticed by the referee. Let's hope there is a reaction on Friday.

Dean Hoyle expects us to be a championship club run on a league 1 budget and that's right where we will end up with shit like Ruffels and Koroma playing for us. Only this time we will be back where we started saddled with 30 million quids worth of debt. What a chairman.

They were managed by a very talented coach (DS may turn out to be the same, fair enough). We had two key players who have left and not been replaced. We had confidence, optimism and ambition - all those have unwound over summer due to the signals coming out of the club. We are nowhere near the same side/club that we were 2 months ago.

When he leaves he will see the club is right...he's a fan for decades, not an opportunist

Just like us when we went down! We weren’t good for a spell, we just ran a bit and didn’t look miles off the pace. Good luck to Danny S but he’s just another in a long line of young coaches that Hoyle has chucked in at the deep end in the hope they’ll work a miracle. Clark, Robins, Powell, Siewart… The men he’s recruited without a ‘football man’ telling him what to do have all been a disaster. I see little to suggest any difference this time around. You missed one between Powell and Siewert Read it again. Wagner was Webber’s man 100%. It was a rare occasion that Hoyle actually employed someone to run the football side of the club effectively. Sadly, it didn’t last. We used to laugh when Stan suggested we wanted ‘champagne football on beer money’. He’s looking like a visionary now.

Barnsley kept the majority of players the year they went down. Losing the head coach and key players meant the squad were significantly worse, and on the evidence we saw last night that’s exactly the same with us. How you can look at last nights game and think we’re going to be top end is baffling.

Just put my thought down about yesterdays game.
I was disappointed with the first half, just the lack of intensity compared to Burnley. Our players looked like running through treacle.
The positives were the subs and the impact they made. They looked hungry and played without fear.
Koroma is unreal how he’s a shadow of the player he was 2 years ago. Think it’s the mental aptitude seems to be lacking. Would of expected a reaction out of Koroma last year with Sorbas progress. Nothing and still nothing this year. I really like Koroma as use to be so direct however I would take a transfer pre September and try to replace him with a loan. A sad turn for a player with enough ability to do well in championship.
The friendlies pre season I felt were poor in that it looked tactical chaos. Harrogate away was a mess. Bolton was better but midfield was not clicking and no link up with attack.
Burnley did their homework and made playing out from the back difficult but I thought we should of been far better.
I was wondering apart from the left hand side missing lots of players from last year, if these players are bought into playing for Schofield. Seems to be a nice guy and laid back. Just doesn’t have that authority approach.
Read the examiner 5 conclusions stating Sorba and Koroma didn’t get back to help defend and just left Turton and Ruffles on their own. I agree with this but were they instructed to stay forward?
I’d like to see Rudoni Tino and Rhodes start on Friday. Holmes Ward and Koroma out. Rhodes for me looks fit and his clever hold up play and bringing others in to the game - as mentioned pre the game. Rhodes pulling in Tino and Sorba in to the game and running into space would be ideal.
I’m not happy with Russell. It’s hard 2nd season but I’m curious on the bleached hair and even slower work rate defensively on the pitch. Does big Jon think he’s made it and now falling into the trap of loving oneself and no hunger? Not a lot of competition for Russell with Kasumu injured, High on loan.
See Birmingham drew with Luton so expect it’s going to be a difficult game on Friday. Fingers crossed we can get something. UTT

The rest of the last night's starting line up was made up of players only good enough for the bench, cup games and cameos last season. We've lost 3-4 absolutely key players in our team as well as the coach. Let's just hope Rudoni & TIno can produce the season of their lives because the gulf in quality available to DS compared to last season is vast. I do admire your faith!

You're curious on his bleached hair ? Datms expert analysts crank it up a notch I am mate. A player comes in, they do well, they are hungry. The money and attention comes. The hair styles, jewellery, big car, tattoos…suddenly moves from a hard working team player to selfish player who stops improving. Time to cash in when that happens.

Guess again. Burnley played Newcastle in a double-friendly. Each club produced two XIs, and Newcastle swapped pitches at half time so there were in effect 4 games of 45 minutes. Official results were not released, but rumour has it Newcastle won all four!

We didn't just lose O'Brien and Toff, 6 players who started at Wembley have left. Our squad is definitely weaker and a few players who are starting now are bench players at best ( Ruffels, Koroma, REG etc). We need a couple of Prem loans. Can't believe we haven't signed a striker from somewhere. Hope I'm wrong but I can't see this squad finishing in the top half of the table, never mind the playoff spots.

We’ve taken out, Colwell Toffolo sarr pipa O’Brien Sinani and lost Pearson to long term injury.,Brought 2 kids in ( one who has a poor injury record) . It’s frightening really and not beyond the possibility this could be a relegation battle . 20000 fans turned up on Friday be interesting predicting next years opening fixture attendance.

If you look on the Town site, it has become blatantly clear where Danny got his tactics from for last Friday's game.... the article is titled "Town Foundation: Danny Schofield Visits Walking Football Session."

The safe options selection by Schofield was entirely predictable.
He might have expected a lot more work rate, he did say we would be in their faces???
The backing off each time the ball was lost does tell another story.
