If it was recorded: - more people would get to hear exactly what was said - there’d be a factual record that could be referred back to in the future of what was discussed You have to wonder why the club wouldn’t want that. It doesn't matter if it's recorded or not, people will still make their own interpretation of key points, unless it's a 100% unequivocal statement, which things rarely are. I can almost guarantee there will be many different opinions shared on this board about this event, by those in attendance at the event. It makes my fucking head hurt does this insistence to know every fucking little bit of inside information. If it goes the way I expect it to, there won't be another one of these Q&A's, then those same people criticising the owners will dig in even further with some conspiracy bollocks. This board has become fucking tedious over the last few yrs, but in some respects I blame that more on how social media has amplified the dickhead community x100... We have an apparently very wealthy American new owner, with no ties to the club, that has stripped out c7 wage from the squad and brought in a backup keeper and a fairly average looking right back. We appear to be hamstrung in bringing other new players into a poor, unbalanced squad. There appears to be a few mixed and low key messages as to why this is. We’re rocking up to the start of the season like the paupers of the league. Plymouth are making £1m signings and were promoted with an apparently small budget. They looking like Richie rich in a toy shop compared to us. We know nothing about the price or terms of the sale of our football club. We have no idea what budget we’re operating in. The sale has been covered in NDAs, just as the last one was. Only the most credulous, servile and uninterested town fans would not be at least mildly curious as to what the fuck is going on.

So absolutely nothing to do with the way the club has been run the last few years then? All social media and the fans fault. Great stuff 👍 The social media age has definitely magnified any discontent. Before the t'interweb there weren't many fans who knew (or gave a shit) about internal finances, ownership structure and the like. It was all about what happened on the pitch, the only option we had back then was to chant "sack the board" "sack the manager" "you're not fit to wear the shirt" while actually AT matches. Now everyone wants every minutiae reported to them and the place is "a shitshow" if it isn't. Now every little knobhead with an axe to grind (imagined or otherwise) can go onto someone's Twatter and call them a nonce (Sorba) or tell them to open the wallet (Kevin Nagle). We're spoiled now compared to what info we USED to get. I agree, but there are plenty on here that think even questioning Dean or the new owner is tantamount to being a Russian communist and terrorist rolled into one. So many just find it hard to see any middle ground.

Can someone tell me what town have done to get themselves in a situation where they cant spend? I know the club were placed under a sanction for filing incorrect accounts, but i thought this was pertaining to phils compnlany going under and not getting the figures in on time? The club made a loss of £2.1m last financial year and a profit the year before, how does that put the club near a £39m loss over 3 years? Explain as if you were telling an 8 year old. Maths not my superpower. The season we made a profit doesn’t count towards the current 3 year period Year 1 of the 3 we made a loss of £3.8m. That was the last published accounts and the last season we got Parachute payments Year 2 ended 30th June 2023. The accounts haven’t been published yet. but assuming a similar loss, then factoring in no parachute payments, paying of 2 Head Coaches, Hiring Warnock and Jepson, making loads of signings in the Jan window that weren’t budgeted for etc, you can probably guess at about a £17m loss So you’re at about £21m loss going into the final year. Which is this year. If we lose a similar figure to last year, we’d be close to the FFP limit of £39m Please don’t take that £17m loss last year as fact, but I can see that it might not be a million miles off. Ok, but championship clubs take in £10m tv money + commercial income right? Thats about £15m a year for town i think, so that would mean wages are in the £32m range, which i find hard to believe considering they dropped ti that kevel the year after the PL. OK £38m but whats £6m that year compared to this year.

The elephant in the room is the terms of the Hoyle sale / Nagle purchase. Do the club get all future transfer income on previous sales, eg Karlan Grant and O Brien? Or is that going Hoyle’s way as terms of the sale. With the NDAs in place we’ll never know of course. Thats half the elephant in the room, the other half is phils pricing of the shares he bought for £2m and didnt buy the second half of. As per my other post if town are onto lose £17m this year after £15m tv and commercial income, thats definately a bit odd.

What are we missing that for the second year running, having sold £13m of players town arent buying a single first team player/are running the risk of losing £17/18m whuch will push the club towards ffp breaches? Totally weird

So essentially what they are saying, there’s no money to spend this year and if we are in trouble come December/January, there’s no money available for us to spend on players to help us survive a relegation fight. So we are as good as down come December if we end up in the same position at the end of the year. Sounds promising.

So we are as good as down come December if we end up in the same position at the end of the year. Sounds promising. Terriers owner Kevin Nagle has confirmed that there is room in the club’s budget for them to bring new players into the squad before the transfer window closes. Nagle said: “The situation is they haven’t found the right one yet – whether it’s been the player maybe doesn’t feel comfortable, or the agent doesn’t feel comfortable, or we don’t feel comfortable. I’ve said before that I let the coaches coach – Neil and his team – and I really let Mark, the sporting director, and his team really do what they need to do. “It’s my job to really be very supportive of them. We’ve done that, I think, so far, and I’m waiting for those right players. We had a chance to see the strengths and maybe the places we need to work on, and I’m excited. We still have three plus weeks left before [the window] closes, so I think there’s going to be still an opportunity to get some really quality players before it’s all said and done.” Nagle had previously alluded to financial limitations on the club over this first year of his ownership, and he confirmed that those come down to the future financial information forecasts that are required by the EFL and especially stringently enforced immediately following a takeover. “The limitations, in higher level terms, are when this process (the takeover) goes through, there’s a budget that’s submitted that you submit to the EFL and they approve it. I think there’s a change you can make at some particular point, but you have to live with the net budget because there’s penalties and other types of fines if you don’t adhere to that. I think some fans are probably aware of that because you read about it publicly where there’s been ownership [at other clubs] that have violated that. We’re not going to violate that, we’re going to live within the means. But we actually still have capacity within our budget to go out and pursue additional players."

Whether it is FFP or some budget restriction imposed due to having new owners (same rules not apply to Birmingham?) it would be interesting to know if the financial penalty for breaking them is greater than what the financial impact of relegation would be Agree with this, What are the financial implications for breaking the rules, why cant we have a go and spend more than the budget, what is the come back on that

Agree with this, What are the financial implications for breaking the rules, why cant we have a go and spend more than the budget, what is the come back on that Come on Sheps, that’s a ridiculous post. I can’t tell if you’re joking or not to be honest. I'm asking a question, so I don't think that's ridiculous at all. We are being told time and time again we aren't allowed to break the rules, but we aren't being told what the implications of it are, if the implications of following the rules are that we have unproven kids (and yes i know they could turn out to be amazing, but we all know the flip side of that as well) and loanees from other championship sides then I'm afraid we will be struggling all season and running the risk of going down. I'm not suggesting that we can, should or are even able to go out and blow millions and millons on over paid players, but I don think that we should be looking into what the comeback would be if we do spend more than the budget. If it is only a budget submitted then that's potentially different to a fixed FFP limit isn't it? There's so much I don't pretend to know or understand (or even really care about) so I'm just asking questions to try and understand it. Yes I know Reading had a point deduction, but that was for breaking FFP multiple times wasn't it? Not for just going over budget. I'm happy to be told anything more about it to try and understand things better.

I thought you were suggesting that going over FFP is worth the risk if the financial fine is less than the cost of relegation. That’s all well and good but, hypothetically, let’s say we think screw it, let’s break FFP rules and spend money we shouldn’t. Does that come with a guarantee of not being relegated?

No mate, there are no guarantees in football what so ever. Apart from the fact if you don’t invest in your first team then you are only going to head one direction.
We all want to see town be the best we can, and it’s a case of just trying to understand what we can and can’t do, an ultimately no one really knows what is happening, can happen and will happen, behind the scenes apart from about 5 people around KN.
It’s all just idle speculation
