Sounds like a waste of money but time will tell. Why would anyone outside of Huddersfield would have any interest in Town? Why would anyone in the US have any interest in Wrexham?

My god, some of our fans are monotonous bores.
Who knows whether the role will justify the wage, but in the comments on X and FB, it's full of 'too many backroom staff', 'the Yank just wants to make money', 'can he play upfront', etc.
Can't they give it a bloody rest. Everything the club releases gets contaminated like this.

Perhaps that’s why we need this guy. If we limit our growth to people who where say born in Huddersfield or currently live here then we will not grow at all. Yes a lot of this growth seems to be focused on the USA but there are a awful lot of people there to market to.

How, I've no idea - that's the new bloke's job

Even I'd go to Town v Sacremento, although I may need permission from 'her indoors' to go to the away leg 🤣 PS: Good luck Domenic, don't listen to the miserable buggers on here. Anything that increases the income streams into the club is worth doing.

The likes of Man Utd and Liverpool for example are actually just brand names these days. It's the global market thing. The proposed ESL would have had half the clubs fixtures played overseas, Asia for example. If anyone can take Town to that kind of level, I will be genuinely amazed. I am intrigued to see how Town go with this one

Sounds like a waste of money but time will tell. Why would anyone outside of Huddersfield would have any interest in Town? Why indeed. I think its more about widening the door. In its 29 or whatever years, the stadium hasn't had an overall ground sponsorship from a company that is HQ'd more than roughly 90mins drive of Hudds. The individual stands have local sponsors. There's nothing wrong with that, but there's more money available to find in the rest of the world than there is in a 100mile circle from Huddersfield...lets go get some of it. The Club partners as they stand mainly look like the pickings of an old style regional sales person who has been given a car and no budget for overnight stays...and looks like they aren't even that big of a fan of driving on motorways. There's a bigger target out there. Or we could remain one of the "clubs like Huddersfield Town" forever. 🤷♂️ (I'm easy either way!)

Not a popular view for some. But the guy won’t be successful unless we can get back into the Premier League, in my opinion. I travel all the time, due to work, the PL is watched everywhere. People I meet know all about the Premier League, it’s teams and the players.
No one watches the EFL abroad certainly not in any great numbers.

my fave Town "global moment" was twenty odd years ago when one of the Htoo twins (child leaders of the God's Army revolutionary group in Burma) was filmed in a Panasonic home kit. Just airdrop thousands of Town kits over southern Asia and hope some TikTok influencer picks one up and starts wearing it!

I think appointments like this are good, certainly worth trying. It may or may not work. I’m sure he’ll bring new thinking and he’ll no doubt have to tailor things differently to the UK and European markets compared to how he might do things in the USA, but that’s fine.
At least they’re trying.

Seems positive. His role with the San Antonio Spurs is impressive, they're a big team in the US. I don't really know how much of a 'global brand' Town could be, but if the non-premier league English game is starting to get more attention globally, with teams like Wrexham, Burnley & Birmingham attracting investment from the States, we might as well try and get our brand out there. Might potentially bring in new investment as well, who knows. I think you've probably hit the nail on the head there, this may well be with a view to making the club more invest-able. I guess if you want to attract investment you stand a much better chance with a great brand. There's plenty of material when you look at the history of the club. Good branding will also help get the youngsters interested. A good start would be having the Town shirt for sale in the local sports shops, worth doing even if they make a loss IMO especially since they stock the Leeds one as far as I know, should be illegal in Hudds!

He needs to sort out availability of Town shirts in knock offs markets abroad. They are always sold out f Town shirts, being stuck with loads of Arsenal, Barcelona, Liverpool and Man U shirts to shift. Who wants them?
Apparently, the youth of today like wearing Retro shirts (per reports of Summer festivals). Get those Gola shirts out now.

Welcome aboard .
Couldn’t give a toss if he was known prior by all or none - if he’s up to the task then I’m happy .
Be interesting to see what niche we latch on to to appeal to the global audience . We’ve obviously not got the on field success currently but that isn’t a prerequisite .
It’s whether we use the thrice champions element , working class slogan or something new .
How could it impact player recruitment , tv broadcasting etc …

Is it just me,or is anyone else wondering 'do we even have a global brand and who cares if we don't?' Seems an odd thing to actually pay someone for to do a job where the gains are absolutely minimal to the club. It would be nice to understand what the plans are, I have to say it seems pie in the sky to think that town could sell enough of any type of product outside of Hudds to make any sort of meaningful difference. I think even as a PL club you'd struggle. Anything to improve the brand is welcome though, he can start by sorting out the so it looks decent (and not tiny) on telly. If he can get that sorted out to satisfy more than 50% of DATM, I think his next job will be sorting out the Israeli- Palestinian problem. 🤪

Surprise surprise, someone manages to cast shade over this within minutes of it being announced. "What a load of shit, the club shows no ambition" <Club shows ambition, by trying to build a global brand> "What a load of shit, it'll never work". “Yeah but Uncle Kev is naive and he criticised the team on Twitter so I’m going to criticise everything he does. Head of Global Brand, can he play up front? 🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️💦💦💦💦”

We are probably overlooking the fact that the off field appointments like this are on on annual salaries which are very low compared to the players, so far less of a gamble than buying a player.
