This is very modern football but, rightly or wrongly, crucial for growing in the current football world.
Not sure on the guy himself but the role is a positive step, I feel. We are so weak on all branding fronts.

Surprise surprise, another "known to Cartwright" appointment.
Interesting, how well have those US Sporting brands done in the UK that he's worked with before?

Seems a good appointment if he can bring an increase to our brand abroad, which will bring in more revenue which is always welcome

I get what you are saying but our commercial success in England is what it is, you're never gonna get a Leeds fan buying a Town mug or towel etc. His success in the USofA is what matters, that is the growth area for town whether we like it or not. The by-product of that growth is hopeful improved merchandise for Town fans or an improvement in the whole retail process, running it like a separate cost centre within the club will be important. I don't know the in's and out's right now but I would imagine the cost of running the retail operation is swallowed up by the overall budget and their success or failure is rather irrelevant. They are there to serve the 20,000 fans or so within Huddersfield and the rest spread out elsewhere, they are not there currently to make money for the club.

Domenic Notarfrancesco, Tony Sporano's third cousin from Tuscany, brought into help with the waste management.

Surprise surprise, another "known to Cartwright" appointment. Interesting, how well have those US Sporting brands done in the UK that he's worked with before? Actually he’s known to Edwards, who was tremendously successful in his last position. Aside from a disappointing transfer window, over the last weeks we’ve shown at least an appetite for change. Edwards, Cartwright, Maybury, Wetherall, Notarfrancesco. Add to that a new owner, Warnock agreeing to stay on. Even though I was really disappointed we didn’t have a more exciting transfer window, and I still think we’re lacking a forward or two, things seem to be changing at the club. There’s not much evidence of how yet, but it’s okay for things to take a bit of time. Generally speaking though, I like that we’re at least trying something. It’s entirely possible that these appointments are the wrong ones, but you only find that out if you make appointments in the first place don’t you.

All three must know each other well, I guess, working at USL.

Is it just me,or is anyone else wondering 'do we even have a global brand and who cares if we don't?' Seems an odd thing to actually pay someone for to do a job where the gains are absolutely minimal to the club.

Welcome Domenic, and good luck.
I'm sure it will be a lot easier to promote our brand when we have success on the pitch.
We seem to be having a lot more more action on the non football side bringing people in than we did spending months trying to bring players in...

It would be nice to understand what the plans are, I have to say it seems pie in the sky to think that town could sell enough of any type of product outside of Hudds to make any sort of meaningful difference. I think even as a PL club you'd struggle. Anything to improve the brand is welcome though, he can start by sorting out the so it looks decent (and not tiny) on telly.

I think that's the purpose of this appointment. To build one (and increase revenue that can be invested into the club).

If it helps, withour income streams. Then it can't be a bad thing, the club have said for a while, that our income streams are way below what is needed, then if this helps with sponsership or other deals. Then it can't harm. All this will sink or swim, but at least there seems to be an idea, of trying new things to try and improve the club on all levels. Nagle et al will need judging this time next year i would say.

Sounds like a waste of money but time will tell.
Why would anyone outside of Huddersfield would have any interest in Town?

Seems positive. His role with the San Antonio Spurs is impressive, they're a big team in the US.
I don't really know how much of a 'global brand' Town could be, but if the non-premier league English game is starting to get more attention globally, with teams like Wrexham, Burnley & Birmingham attracting investment from the States, we might as well try and get our brand out there.
Might potentially bring in new investment as well, who knows.
