Not a popular view for some. But the guy wonāt be successful unless we can get back into the Premier League, in my opinion. I travel all the time, due to work, the PL is watched everywhere. People I meet know all about the Premier League, itās teams and the players. No one watches the EFL abroad certainly not in any great numbers. The title seems a bit of a misnomer. All his experience seems to be in retail, and the examples the article gives of his achievements and Edwardsā statement, suggests that Director of Global Sales would be closer to the job he does.
It seems from the article that heāll be building up our online and physical retail & merchandise ranges, including player specific merchandise.
Would imagine that we might have some marketing campaigns locally and in the US.
Why mention all that in the article unless itās relevant to what heāll do for town.
All utterly fundamental to us building our revenue base - so heāll be an important appointment.

We should have picked from one of the many other Director of Global Brand candidates available to us. No idea what they intend to do to pull people to town. Seems the only way to do that these days is to get a couple of Hollywood A listers but I think itās encouraging anyway that they want to expand the potential of the club.

Player product lines seem likely - JK10 baseball caps, t shirts with player chants on and that sort of thing. Done well I think some of that sort of thing would sell really well and could add a nice bit of humour and fun - all the stuff we put out is pretty stiff and po faced.
A āHeritageā line of merch all about our history, wider selection of current items.
Selling āfootball experiencesā to American tourists on holiday for English history.
Not sure how much this guy will be on but if heās got the right ideas heāll easily make his salary back for us and more.

Judging by the number of folk over here who wear vests/ tops/tshirts/caps with the name of a baseball/basketball/NFL team they know nothing about I think it's well worth a punt.
Who knows, maybe a Town top with "Hogg" will soon be de rigueur in New York.
