On a serious note, what’s the impact to Town?
Only asking as I’m not sure if it’s just a standard 2 game international break, or is this a tournament where he’ll be with them for a while?

Really pleased for Yuta.
Horrible injury last season that kept him out of the WC.
Delighted for him that he’s been selected for the Asia Cup.

Played all 90mins in the 3-1 win over Bahrain, so presumably his injuries are truly behind him.
Selfishly hope they get knocked out in the quarters though.

I watched the whole game and he did all right. Playing as more or less an orthodox left-back alongside his best mate Tomiyasu (of Arsenal) he was defensively solid (Bahrain didn't offer a lot but were very physical). A lot of Japan's best play going forward came down his side, particularly when Mitoma came on second half. He had the full back on toast every single time. Yuta's performance could best be described as tidy. It makes a big difference when you're playing with players of that kind of quality.

Yuta was an unused sub in the 2-1 defeat to Iran. A shame for the Japanese lads, but at least it means we'll have him back sooner rather than later.

won't be here next season Has he yet to sign a new contract? He has to be offered one first and I don’t believe an offer has been made yet. Provided we stay up I think we need better at left back.

Wasn’t it a freak incident like that that had him out before? Seem to remember someone accidentally landing on the back of his Achilles

Shame for the lad but felt a lot happier once Spencer was on that side. Nakayama is too easy to expose at left back, better when he's part of a back 3

Too lightweight for Championship football for me, wouldn’t be too fussed if he was off in the summer.

Out for 8-10 weeks, knee ligament damage, that's him done for the season, doubt he'll ever play for Town again.

Not good enough with his body to be a centre back, not good enough on the ball to be a full back. Showed flashes of quality but never had a properly good game, and had a great deal of bad luck with injuries. A shame not to have him for the run in even though I wouldn't usually want him starting.

If Yuta wasn't good enough on the ball then there's no hope for the rest, he's head and shoulders above anyone else we have, as a footballer.

What’s happened to Balker? Another signing made of glass? Looked like he could play a bit.
