Wasn't his snapped achilles through another Town player catching him too. Was definitely a freak injury where someone landed on the back of his leg. Just can’t recall if it was our player or opposition Sunderland player, basically fell down and just caught Nakayama's ankle under him. Complete freak injury.

He wasn’t on the retained list, but the last we heard of him, he was injured. Not seen any video of him being treated since, so, does anyone know where he is?
Not about him per se, but if a player is released ( injured or not, really), how do they keep fit, in order to find another club? Can they train on their own, with their former club, after a close season, to regain fitness? Someone of his international status, if fully fit, would probably be offered trials by potential buyers, but, any buyer would be taking a risk, so, anyone know the protocols?

He also was happy to stay at Town in league one on reduced terms, the talk of him being unhappy/unsettled etc was nonsense.

Duff might have a look at him up close. I think he's too fragile to rely upon in league one

He hasn't got any speed, weakest area of his game. He'd have played at a much higher level if he did have any

His last two injuries were both freak to be fair. You can't legislate for been tawttted by your own team mate in a West Yorkshire Derby !!

His last two injuries were both freak to be fair. You can't legislate for been tawttted by your own team mate in a West Yorkshire Derby !! Kind of sums up our luck. Awkward fall by a Sunderland player results in our lad getting injured, then our own captain wallops him by accident. For all we’ve had a poor record with injuries, no blame can be pinned on Nakayama! If he is willing to stay on reduced terms, I’d have a year’s deal on the table. I think he lost some of the toughness he seemed to have before his first injury, but as a ball-player he’s the best we have (Balker maybe aside, but still not seen enough of him). He offers a natural left-sided option which we do need, and we did drop off when he wasn’t in the side last season. Good reader of the game, too, good at playing the ball between the lines which would be a good weapon to have in breaking teams down.

He's had awful luck here, surprised he doesn't want to cut his losses and give somewhere else a try. Particularly as the English game is a bit too physical for him I think - he's lost plenty of foot races and strength duels, even before his latest bad injury.
He could give us a good option against teams that are just looking to defend. Him and Balker as overlapping centre backs would give us plenty going forward - Wilder developed that style of play to prise open those defensive teams in this league.

Yeah, and my perspective will change if and when the problem is addressed. FWIW I agree that we'll probably bring in more midfielders. We only have Kasumu and Kane that I'd trust to play a lot of games in Lg1.

I think in a back three Yuta is perfect on the left side - and it seems Duff plays three centre back. Would expect he'd has interest from teams in higher leagues but if not I'd definitely be happy to keep him

Throw in Wiles on top of that - probably moreso than Kasumu, with his injury record. We certainly need more bodies and quality. Rotation is going to be needed this season more than it has in some time, with the extra games of the trophy formerly known as the Paint Pot, international postponements, and more likely cup runs.

I had my doubts even as I typed Kasumu's name, but I'm working on the premise that he's put the worst of those problems behind him. Wishful thinking? Possibly. Wiles? A fairly decent half hour against an 8th(?) tier side in a preseason friendly doesn't convince me that he's up to the standard to do anything in Lg1. I know he's done it before at Rotherham but that was before his injury and I don't think he's the same player any more.
