No matter the result today, we’re not safe or doomed. I remember walking out of the Coventry match last year 100% convinced we were down. I’ll bet Wednesday fans thought the same after they lost 4-0 the week after we beat them 4-0. With Rotherham next we could really do with a draw, a win would be huge. I get the feeling one or both of QPR and Wednesday will stay up, need to make sure it’s not at our expense. I think both Wednesday and QPR will get out of it. Blackburn fans are on a real downer, not just with the results but also their actual performances (plus the opponents they still have to play). By all accounts they were poor yesterday and outplayed before they went down to 10 men. That could leave one spot being fought over by us, Brum, Plymouth, Stoke and Millwall (by god they’ve been lucky since Harris came back).

Everyone is talking about a win or at the least a draw.
Optimistic if you ask me. Has anyone seen where West Brom are in the table?
They'll set up the same as Cardiff and we'll struggle to create chances. Not looking forward to this one.
I just hope this post doesn't age well.

Yes, we see where they are in the table. But look at last week. We drew v Leeds, QPR won away at Leicester then drew at home to West Brom

We'll be fine. Good manager, decent squad and recent form takes us to mid table. We had an off day but still didn't deserve to lose at Cardiff. No time for naysayers.
Onwards and upwards.

Got to keep the tempo high and make the most of our set pieces. We’re also due a clean sheet, can see this being 1-0 either way, please be in our favour. UTT

The more I think about it, the more I think we're due a bit of fortune. We've gone 70 home matches without a penalty - a truly ludicrous statistic that just underlines how much we haven't had the rub of the green. Not a single opponent has been sent off against us in almost a full season too. We don't score goals from deflections - we're due one of those. I don't think we've been the beneficiaries of an own goal this season. At some point, that will have to change.

Don't understand what's going on with the new gaffer and Matos. Our best chance of staying up is with him on the pitch as much as possible.

We’ve not been the most prolific of scorers, but we’re talking about no penalties in 6,650 mins, if you’re conservative and only allowing 5 mins added time in those games. I think people will fall out of the stands next time we get one given…

I understand him dropping Wiles and Ward, I suspect both are most useful off the bench anyway. Headley rightly comes in. Matos instead of Hogg and that's perfect IMO- but Breitenreiter must see something that we don't. Hope to see a bit of Koroma and Balker too.

We look light up front. Horrible feeling we are setting up for a keep it tight and see if we can nick one performance.

We don't seem to always get the rub of the green, but you also have to make your own luck.

Matos on the bench again. Struggling to understand that one. I'm fairly certain that Chelsea will be having a say in this. He doesn't seem to have 90mins of Championship football in him so there was no way he'd be playing anywhere near 270 in 8 days. Absolutely no point in losing him for the season due to bad game time management.

Or maybe we haven't had any penalties because we haven't been attacking very much and so haven't often been in the opponent's penalty area? A side gets a penalty, on average, every 9 games in the Championship. A side who don't get forward very much, therefore, will get fewer penalties, but you're talking about one penalty every 15 games, or 20 at a push. We have gone three full seasons without a single penalty at home, including a season where we got 87 points and finished third. That isn't because we shouldn't have had any. I can think of two examples just this season where clear handballs took place. That's because we've been exceptionally unlucky. To go SEVENTY games without a penalty is a statistical outlier that tells more of luck than anything else.

Do you think Edwards has been putting too much weight on his ankle and not resting for the 22 hours a day required for it not to buckle

Headley deserves to start. However, I’m slightly nervous as Jed Wallace is probably their most dangerous player and JH is better going forward than defending.

His defending has improved a lot this season, he's more than capable in a 1v1 situation now, maybe still a bit weak defending space. I think Warnock's many quotes saying he can't defend will be a bit of a millstone for him, regardless of the reality

I find the hate of Burgzorg funny considering there’s a similarly wasteful player who gets lauded as the next big thing. Granted they’re different players but I’m always seeing how when rudoni scores one he won’t be able to stop. Yet this is both their stats this season. Rudoni 27 games 5 goals 2 assists Burgzorg 25 games 6 goals 1 assist. Ones a striker, one's a midfielder 🤷
