That was basically a case of Preston going in at half-time and their manager saying to them; "What are you playing at lads? This lot are shit!". After the first goal went in, they absolutely destroyed us with their passing game. The difference in quality was massively apparent. This is the biggest difference for me. Lots of other championship teams have genuine championship quality players that can quickly move the ball. Slick one and 2 touch passing and players moving into space. Years of underinvestment have left us in a place where we don’t have players that can do that at championship level. So when they are on the ball, instead of having the ability to quickly pass the ball, they just run with it, before being tackled or closed down and loosing possession. There’s not really a lot that any coach can do, as the players simply aren’t good enough to play at a consistent level in the championship. They are not good enough to quickly and slickly pass the ball at this level. And no matter how much coaching they get, the vast majority of them never will be. The penalty was a massive call tonight. However, what on earth were we doing to even be in a position to give the referee the option. We had good possession of the ball outside our box…….simply players that can’t quickly pass and move at championship level results in us running with the ball and loosing possession. Sadly this time in our own box Completely agree. There are actually League 1 teams who have more Championship quality players than us. A good number of the teams in and around the automatic and play-off spots down there would comfortably beat us. Our recruitment has been absolutely appalling, as we're all aware. I've never really warmed entirely to Rudoni, who flatters to deceive a lot of the time. However, he's probably the only semi-successful signing we've made in the last couple of years. Look at Radulovic. Whoever thought he was ready for Championship football and a relegation battle needs dismissing immediately. I don't think I'm being extreme in saying that a big dope like Lukas Jutciewicz would have been a more effective signing. In January we were absolutely desperate for a midfielder who could dictate play. We got a kid from Chelsea who rats around and can tackle, but can't pass the ball and is more likely to get a red card than make a meaningful attacking contribution. Did no-one at the club watch him play before we signed him? The much-needed centre-back we brought in looks like an absolute Rolls Royce when he plays, but appears to be made of fibreglass; which explains why no top flight clubs in his own country were looking at him (despite his ability). Healey has scored a couple of goals. However, if we're being 100% honest, is he really worth what we paid for him and was he any improvement on Danny Ward? The answer is no, sadly. Other clubs seem to make a lot of really 'under the radar' signings, players who fit a style they're trying to promote and have been thoroughly scouted; lads who you've never heard of but then quickly build a reputation because they're capable. We sign players simply because they're available and play in a position where we're lacking in numbers. The chickens are coming home to roost, and we've heard them clucking for ages now.

Coventry City at Easter and the PNE 2nd half performance tonight showed us everything we aren’t and should be. Fluid movement, precise passing, every player knowing their job and performing it to a decent level, we just don’t have the players because too many aren’t good enough and are playing a level above themselves. The team suffers from a chronic lack of real investment; we wasted the PL money, Dean took his share, FFP last summer, yada yada yada. No doubt there’ll be another sob story trotted out when we spend too little this summer, obviously once everybody has renewed their season cards! Robbie Brady was great for them tonight, he’s exactly what we’ve been crying out for for ages, and would walk into our team. But doubtless his wages would be too much for us yet PNE don’t seem to have a problem.

Burgzorg giving grief back to fans after his performances. What a prick 🤣 Perhaps he needs to focus on his own ineptitude instead Thought he was one of our best players in the first half.

I guess there's a reason for that. No way do worthy’s Town go to Rotherham and perform like they did under AB. I agree. We'd have won 10-0 under Worthy.

He was from the 30 mins i saw........the sad thing is hes got an edge to him like sorba so fans give him the bird when it goes wrong. Ive just watched ABs post match - he looks and sounds shocked. Many of us arent - post prem appalling recruitment and a bunch of lads coming through who either arent good enough or dont possess any mental toughness has got us here. If by some miracle we do stay up it cant hide the huge changes needed. We cant throw 2 yr contracts at the likes of ruffels and ward - new deals for jackson, jones etc either. During the time that lad ran across africa weve won 12 games!!! Its beyond laughable now and has to change for the club not to disappear into league one for another long spell.....or worse.

Listening to AB the one thing I hope is that he is telling Mr Nagle exactly as it is.

I actually don’t know what to say or think about that second half performance.
My player poll that got me a load of abuse was right. These players simply are not good enough. To take off the midfield was bizarre though and I can’t really see what Andre was trying to do.
Della having a go at the fans - sorry Della but you can’t defend that performance.
I remember watching us draw away at Sheffield wed earlier in the season. They were the worst side I had seen in a long time. Yet we couldn’t beat them.
They will stay up and we will go down that’s how poor we have become.
Sad times.

Too many pages to look through so apologies if this has been covered.
Apart from the fact that Matos should NEVER have been dilly dallying on the ball in our own box and should have just cleared the fucking ball, do people think it was a penalty?

Think most agree that Moore tried but the players took the piss out of him.Worthy had a good short stint but we couldn’t have kept up that high intensity,as andre has found out. He’s had to try do it differently than he wants to.So proved he’s not stubborn. He’s spent the last 2 weeks or so in the press and probably the 2 weeks off stroking the egos of players not good enough consistently, even doing so after a largely poor performance against Millwall but he rolled with the result. First half last night they carried on the momentum. But as soon as Preston came out and improved and a few things went against last night the players piss weak mentality came to the fore. I’m not surprised he’s virtually called them out on it after the game.Iv seen people on twitter saying it doesn’t help/what’s he doing etc.Why should he defend that. I think a combination of lack of quality and weak mentality leaves us where we are.In previous seasons we’ve either had a mentally stronger group or 3/4 much better and championship quality players. The playoff season we had both. This lot just somehow need to get over the line and we need a clear out.Andre I think is the right man to take us forward if we stay up.Go down and I just don’t see him staying to be honest. If he did I think we could have a go down there but remains to be seen.

On first watch I thought not but the replay shows that he kicked the players foot in order to get the ball, so yes I think it was probably a penalty. They had another shout for one too about 15 minutes which I also thought looked a foul.

Their players looking for it, no real strong contact, goes down far too easy.

Didn’t go but watched it back several times on sky and imo never anywhere near a penalty, just another inept decision that turned the game

Listening to AB the one thing I hope is that he is telling Mr Nagle exactly as it is. Wonder if Nagle is still claiming that this squad is good enough? What he says publicly and what he believes, and I hope he's realistic, are two different things. They say they recruit from stats well ours on passing completion and ball retention are hopeless. That's a stone cold fact and no one can shy away from the truth.

No doubt that Andre’s substitutes cost us the game..
Played well 1st half and deserved lead..
Kasumu and matos screening the back 4 and our front 3 causing them problems..
However it was obvious that Jackson isn’t good enough and he should have been replaced at HT..
Soft penalty again 🤬🤬
But then to replace matos with Healey was stupid..
Ruined our shape and lost control in midfield..
To replace koroma with jones was double stupid..
He looked like a child in a man’s game AND he moved sorba out of his natural position to accommodate him🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Sorba barely touched the ball after that..
💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

That's a stone cold fact and no one can shy away from the truth. He says a lot publicly. Most of it complete rubbish. I think that's unfair, to a point. I get being positive and I do believe he wants to be successful but he also has to get real about where we really are. In one sense I respect him supporting the team he hired but there comes a point where you have to call things as they are. In the midst of a relegation battle might not be ideal but I do want to hear something more sober when the season is over. This season has been a mess, and an extension of what had been created before Mr Nagle arrived. It needs a hard nosed, driven, clear plan to get us moving forward again. If I don't hear something that is realistic, structured and credible I will certainly support your view that Mr Nagle indeed talks but doesn't deliver ie it's rubbish. Right now I'll give him the opportunity to show he can turn us round. He needs to understand though that the rope he has with the fanbase is getting ever shorter with every week. I hope I'm right that he will prove to be a good custodian of our club.

Well that was shit 😀 Battled first half. Preston were never going to be that bad in second half. Totally lost our way second half. 2 home wins needed or it’s Stockport away next season. What a slog it’s going to be to get out of that division, god knows how long it will take.

Listening to AB the one thing I hope is that he is telling Mr Nagle exactly as it is. Fully agree, the very soft penalty, turned the games, along with poor substitutions. Didn't bother Preston, as we crumbled 2nd half, very disappointing overall, after a battling 1st half performance. We've too many players who aren't good enough to play Championship football - UTT.

They deserve zero credit for us rolling over and the ref being a homer.

The only time they have is when our owner and his sidekick were giving it the big one on Twitter trying to create a rivalry which isn’t as much there for them (yes they think they are massive and Man U are their biggest rival) but in general they just found them both weird/sad with it all.

I couldn't say it was definitely not a penalty, because there was some contact - but if that's a foul anywhere on the pitch then the ref might as well not take the whistle out of his mouth from kick off until final whistle. There are more refs that would book him for simulation than give that penalty.

Can't believe I'm reading it's not a penalty. Looked 100% a penalty in person and not a single person in the stands or pitch really complained.
If that was the other way around and not given there'd be people on here asking for the refs address.
Even if the ref has made a mistake, it's not his fault we have 6-8 players who cannot trap or pass a ball 5 yards.

Stop giving them decisions to make!!!! It was shear crap play on our part that forced matos to have to make a challenge. After that we simply fell apart. Absolutely Pathetic.
